Batch Command To Pause Script Until Application Closed?

It's probably something obvious but both Pause and Wait for don't seem have the functionality I needed. The batch file (windows command script) I'm making is intended to do something fairly simple. It extracts a 7zip file into the TEMP directory then starts an executable from that 7zip file. All that is not a problem, but I really wanted to add some house cleaning functionality as well. Namely, after that executable or process is closed, the script deletes the extracted content from the TEMP folder. Also, but less importantly I was wondering if there is a way to hide the command prompt while the script & application is running, mainly so the command prompt window isn't closed while waiting for the application to end, thus missing the command to purge the TEMP files.

Im setting up a batch file to run some adb commands on my android phone. I want to run a command and store the result into a variable for later use in the batch file.
Example command:
adb shell getprop ro.product.brand
That command outputs the brand of the device e.g. samsung. I want to capture that without displaying it into a variable that will be used later on in the script. I have the 3 adb files coped over to the scripts location so that it will run natively.

How to make a batch file so that I can launch the ipconfig /all command right off my desktop. I know how to get to the command prompt and running, but I want to just put a shortcut and/or write a batch file with just a click. I can get the command prompt up. I open a new text file and type: C:Windowssystem32cmd.exe and then I save the text file to .bat and I click on it and my command prompt comes up. I can't seem to get ipconfig /all to come up at all.

I am trying to create a batch file that runs 3 other batch files. Right now, it works fine using the call command on each other batch file. However, these other batch files take awhile to run. and so the entire process takes a very long time, since each "sub" batch file is run only after the previous one is finished.I was wondering if there is a command or way to start a batch file fro the top-level batch file, then go on and start the next batch file before the previous one is finished. In other words, I want the sub batch files to run in parallel in the background. (similar to the '&' in Unix).

The reason I ended up there was because I was getting a problem where, at random times during random programs, the computer would lose signal to the monitor... Pause for a while, then reboot. Figuring I might have old hardware profiles that needed updating, I went to check my windows updater and found it was disabled... A short series of checks and Gringo was head to head with a Zero Acess Infection, which he promptly kicked the backside of.However, since then, the black screen issue has returned. It seems it wasn't Malware related. It doesn't seem to have any obvious pattern. Sometimes it happens when nothing it happening at all, and when I get back to the computer there is just an error log.Sometimes it happens twice in a row, sometimes not for hours. my system has been skipping for a bit now, basically a few things are quite wrong to me, and them seem to get worse. in chronological order;crackling in the sound (i use optical audio with the z5500 speakers from logitech) small jitters/pauses from time to time jitters/pauses got longer and more frequent video card crashing (im guessing caused by drivers)** very long pauses all video is affected (Internet causes a massive pause after about 30seconds, window goes green - flv player crashes/gets lines across the window) *note: when it the video jitters, so does the sound**what i mean by crash is, the screen will go off completely (as if in sleep mode), recover and the message will appear in the task bar saying the driver crashed.system resources will go to 100% for a brief moment while the system is unresponsive (all cores and memory to 100%). after a cold boot, it will not start for about 10 minutes, then it will start slowly and within an hour get to where it is regularly.
the computer itself is fairley new (june 2011), the hard drive, though is from 2008, i used it on another build and basically recycled it, (reinstalled the os multiple times since i bought it, clearing the drive each time.)things i have tried;kaspersky full scan ccleaner disk fragmentation disk check updated all my drivers boot to only necessary programs with msconfigmy system;os version: microsoft windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit processor: intel(r) core(tm) i7-2600 cpu @ 3.40ghz, intel64 family 6 model 42 stepping 7 processor count: 8 ram: 8174 mb - g.skill ripjaw series 1600 graphics card: nvidia geforce gtx 570, 1280 mb hard drives: c: total - 476836 mb, free - 103627 mb - wd caviar blue motherboard: asrock, p67 extreme4 antivirus: kaspersky pure, enabledi have gotten several error messages in korean from chrome, not sure what exactly they were saying. the screen will now pause when the sound does, then after a little while it will go back to normal but not before having the whole screen go black.

I have a process that is always running on my PC (Win7 sp1) that I can shutdown gracefully anytime and will also shutdown gracefully when the computer is restarted or shutdown if only it is given enough time. I'd like to add a little time (maybe 20 seconds) between the time the computer sends the shutdown command to all open processes and the time it sends the kill now command to any processes that are left open.If my process shuts down gracefully it restarts in about 5 seconds, but when it shuts down ungracefully it takes about 10 minutes.

I am having issues when trying to pause then play most video types including mkv. If I pause and then play a video the audio starts just fine but the video is frozen until I skip forward or backward. It is only an issue if I pause then play the video within ~10 seconds. Not sure what is going on here or how to fix this. I'm using Shark007 codecs.

I recently bought a new dell laptop. Im running a Windows 7 Home premium x64. Now since the start i have noticed a few weird things happening. 1. When ever im using a browser ie. Internet explorer and google chrome, my browser scrolls down automatically to the bottom page even if im typing or watching a video.2. when im playing a fulls screen online video my video tends to auto pause.3. when ever i donot have a browser open and i open any other window/application everything minimizes, though i haven't noticed these issues when im playing game in full screen.

In UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .
In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,
Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .

Our office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application.If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.

I can get the task manager going by hitting control, alt, delete. I've tried to start explorer.exe from the file menu, but get the same error.

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click on OK to terminate the application.The only option is to click ok. I am deathly afraid to turn off my computer because my brother recently did and that caused it to freeze at the blue HP startup screen, but thats another thread. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. I use zone alarm full security suite if that helps at all, I don't know if it deleted a registry file or something.

I tried to replace 3 files in the system 32 folder, and must have made a mistake along the way leaving my laptop inaccessible once logged on. The three files were:
uxtheme.dll
themeui.dll
themeservice.dll
I received these error messaged when logged on:dwm.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). I don't what happened but all of a sudden a message box opens up on my windows 7 laptop and it says this " the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application" . I clicked ok but the error message box keeps returning back.If i remember properly, this happened when I tried installing some wallpaper.system seems to be working finw with all applications, but this message box is quite annoying.

I was just wondering if it is possible to reverse engineer a 32-bit application and recompile it as a 64-bit application. If so, would it still function?I don't know if talking about reverse engineering is acceptable in this forum or not. If not, my apologies.Also, I don't exactly know how "legal" it is or if it's against any EULAs.I'm a heavy browser user. I use Firefox Nightly and constantly have several tabs open. I also run several different applications at once and occasionally Skype. I'm CONSTANTLY hitting the 32-bit barrier for RAM (can't remember if it's 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 GB) and I still have more RAM on my system. I'm thinking the video quality on Skype starts going south when I run low/out on addressable memory since it's a 32-bit application

I've been getting the BSOD for a few days now, this happens only when the laptop lid is closed. I have set the option "choose what closing the lid does" to "do nothing". this is because i have the broadband ON and I'm usually downloading stuff. When i open the lid I see a box that says "windows has recovered from an unexpected error" and the problem event name has "blue screen"

I have a laptop, Sony Vaio, which have the power button on the right side, not over the keyboard like some other models. So I would like to turn on the laptop by pushing the power button anytime - even when the lid is closed. But this is not the case, I can only turn on the laptop when i open the lid. I have connected my laptop to TV (as dock, via HDMI port) to look at movies. I have changed the power settings to do nothing when i closing the lid. Which works fine, but I still need to open a lid, turn on, and close the lid again! I think it should be an easy way to solve this problem. So i want to know is there any way to turn on windows when the lid is closed?

I wanted to have an external remote power button on my netbook, therefore I opened it and managed to put 2 wires from the button inside. The external button works, but one big problem remains:I cannot power UP the netbook when the lid is closed, even if I press the external remote power button?Instead, when lid is opened, the remote button works perfectly!

I have a standard PC => Router => Internet (Modem) connection at the moment and I didn't notice until just now but every single port on my machine forces itself closed. I know the issue is not with my ISP as they don't block any ports, I have had ports opened before, and as of noticing this issue opening ports works on my other PCs. After testing the router is also functioning perfectly and is not at issue with port forwarding.I do not run any type of anti-virus software and I also do not run any third party firewall software. Windows Firewall has been tried as both enabled and disabled (though they give different results). When connected to the internet through my router the opened ports appear as stealthed like all of the non-forwarded ports when windows firewall is enabled with proper rules and as closed when windows firewall is disabled. When connected directly through to my internet the ports all show as closed.
