View 1 Replies View RelatedSome background info: I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. It is 64-bit. I am running it on a laptop. I have no idea why I got the BSOD, but I did get it today. Restarted the computer in safe mode, then restarted again in "regular" mode and everything was fine. I'm typing on the same computer now (it's the only one I have, okay?). Can't think of anything that would be wrong with the computer, except the charger broke (I'm pretty sure this is a charger issue, and a new one is in the mail) so the battery doesn't charge: I have to have the computer plugged in when I use it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Java app that runs just fine on Windows XP. However, on Windows 7 there is a problem related to a job being done via a Java thread. Background: The app spawns a separate job via a Java thread and continues on while the spawned job executes. In other words, 2 things happen at once.
Problem: On Windows 7, when the app spawns the job, Windows sits and waits for the spawned job to complete before it continues on. In other words, 2 things DO NOT happen at once. It's as if Java threading does not work in Windows 7.
My message replies are always at the bottom of the thread-how can I make be at the top.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just mooved from WinXP to Win7 with my software. My software needs to have real time response to I/O so it makes busy-wait in one thread (wich has affinity to run on one CPU).The result is 100% CPU on one of the cores and 0 CPU for others, in WinXP it worked just fine.In win7 the system freezes. The software is a console software (for Windows program it beaves a bit diffrent. only if the main thread make busy-wait without peeking messages it freezes)

System does not freeze in safe mode but it does freeze in safe mode with networking. I made a thread a while back about a new laptop i got - basically had different sorts of BSOD and freezing. Can't remember if BSOD were present in diagnostic mode , but the random total freezes were (require restart). Don't know if i will succeed in returning it but i need to know if it is hardware or software because if i send it one more time in service and it's fine (physically) they will make me pay for it and shipping (to another country).

This PC is a Dell Optiplex 755 Small Form Factor with Core 2 Duo and 2GB RAM.About a month ago the Hard Drive was predicted to fail, so I created a Windows Image from the Windows backup utility, swapped in a new hard drive, and applied the Image.I tried searching the issue, but Google could not provide any help on such an obscure issue but with terms common to other problems.
Occasionally (becoming more frequent) I get the error message saying "A Process or thread crucial to to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated" I have no idea what the cause is.
This is in Windows 7 64 bit, does anyone know what the cause is?
I have just had re-install WIndows 7 (32bit)on my PC something that I've done once before with no problems. This time however there's a yellow triangle showing next to the PC icon in devices and printers.Going into properties then hardware it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" on Intel(R) 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller - 27B8.I've got a disk with drivers on it and updated the PC with those but I still have this problem.

In the System there is a Canon LIDE scanner which shows as a CanoScan with the yellow exclamation mark. Also Devices and Printers it shows up but with the yellow exclamation mark. Have reinstalled the supplied 64bit Canon software for it but still no go. It is USB powered so swapped around the USB cable but still a no go area. Unplugging and reconnecting the scanner makes no difference. I have no idea where Canon places the drivers for this when the set up program installs.Going online Windows finds the driver software but reports back that it has encountered an error while attempting to install it. The software it is tryng to install is CanoScan LiDE 600F.

I updated my drivers, and still nothing, i also have the latest bios version. I tried asking on a couple other forums but it seems they are a bunch of amateurs...so i came here.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe icons on my desktop have a lock in the lower corner. Indicating that they are not to be shared. This lock randomly switches to a green check mark or to a grey X or sometimes to the file shared icon. Different ones switch to different icons when it happens. So not just the folders or just the shortcuts. But all desktop icons. The main icon picture stays the same, it's the lower corner spot that changes around randomly. The little arrow that indicates that the icon is a shortcut. This even happens on my game icons. Is this a sign of a malfunction or maybe mal-ware? I do not have Mozy or Norton installed. Running Win 7. When I turned on my PC today a AMD update was prompted. Assuming it was for a driver update, I clicked ok. Even though I uninstalled and reinstalled my driver yesterday, to try and fix a flickering problem. The update looked legitimate. Today I also uploaded and downloaded a small video file from "Bloggif.com". While I was trying to create an animated .gif. The animated .gif worked. This seems like one of those things that happens when I don't know that my pinky finger is resting on the ctrl key. But can't figure out how to keyword troubleshoot through Google.
