BSOD When Logging In To Desktop, Error 0x0000000a
Jul 6, 2012
I just bought a new Dell laptop 6 weeks ago. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Original Install, OEM.
About two weeks after purchasing the laptop Windows startup recovery would run every time I turned on the laptop. Just a few days ago the I started getting the BSOD after logging in to the desktop. If I try to start an application immediately after logging in, I won't get a BSOD. If I log in and leave the latptop unattended I get a BSOD.

Been having random BSOD for the past week or so. Started on Sunday (11-27-11),where I had come back to my machine and it had been restarted... after logging in, find out that it was a BSOD. I then proceded to have 3 different BSOD events on Monday, which led me to perform a memtest on Tuesday morning to see if my memory was bad. After 2 full passes (I know, not a full 8), it didn't seem to be that, so I went ahead and did a System Restore from a backup from roughly 2 weeks prior. This led to solid performance for the next week, until this morning (Monday, 12-5-11) when I had another. All BSOD events seemed to occur at random times, so I can't say they were triggered by a specific event to the best of my knowledge.
I had performed the BSOD dump collection and Performance Monitor Report on last monday as well as doing the BSOD dump collection today. Regretfully, I cannot get the Performance Monitor to stop running today, so hopefully just the dump collection will be enough. As for my computer components:- HP Elite 7000 MT machine- Windows 7 Ultimate x64- Not the version originally installed on system- Hardware is a little over a year and a half old- 64-bit OS (originally had x86) wasinstalled 13 months ago.- Only non-stock hardware would be an added harddrive (just a backup drive, no OS on it), and I added 4GB more RAM (alongside the original 4GB) back in January.

Computer is still under warranty (purchased in January) but after a couple months, the customer support hasn't been able to hone in on the problem(s), so I'm just attempting some research myself on the blue screen codes I'm getting. Yesterday the motherboard and both RAM sticks were swapped out and I ran the recovery disks, so the operating system is fresh as well. (Hard drive has also been replaced and one RAM stick was replaced previously too.) Didn't see the blue screen happen, just came back and the computer was off and when I turned it back on it went to the windows recovery screen. When I booted to Windows normally it gave me the error, then finished installing the updates. After the motherboard switchout, it automatically boots from the front USB ports first, despite the fact that I've gone into the BIOS and excluded everything from the boot order other than the hd and cd/dvd. (So it'll boot from my jump drive and say 'missing operating system' and I have to restart.) Not sure if it's relevant information, but figured I'd include it.

I keep getting a BSOD every time I log into my desktop and I'm not sure what the problem is. It works on safe mode, but that's about it. I think this folder may contain the dump files which I got by running the desktop on safe mode: Attachment 233731

I am trying to fix a computer for a relative, but cannot seem to figure out the cause of these BSOD's, they are frequent, with the computer running typically for less than 5 minutes before crashing out, once or twice for longer since I've received it. I removed expired versions of norton internet security and another norton program as well as a basic virus scan with malwarebytes. The laptop also passed a single full pass from memtest.

Yesterday laptop with Windows 7 has been properly closed, and today after running a complete lack of desktop. The black background and nothing more. Works only task manager and cmd. Safe mode starts up properly. I tried to selectively disable the service take off, I checked the correctness of system files (sfc), chkdsk scanned, restored the system state, repairing the system from the installer, but still the same effect. MHDD does not show anything suspicious and logs OTL, which results in the Annex. Issue the command with cmd explorer.exe does not work. When you call the command iexplore or other associated with the control panel everything works. Sometimes this happens with all the icons appear and then disappear, and only remains the sidebar.

From my laptop I put in abc for user and 123 for password I can connect to the desktop but it says invalid user name or password. I have tried creating different user names and passwords on the desktop fot the laptop. What am I doing wrong? I do not understand why this is so difficult. I built my computer about 1.5 years ago and I've never had a problem with it until yesterday. When I was playing a computer game my Windows 7 Ultimate x86 froze for 1 sec (during that 1 sec the display on screen turns all "glitchy"). Imminently after the Blue Screen pops up and I have typed out what the it says beblow. Now everytime I start up my computer and log into windows (my computer takes a little longer than usual to boot up now) the computer shuts off 5-10 minutes and shows the blue screen again.

I keep getting BSODs when using this computer. Often it would crash right after logging into windows and this is fairly consistent. Other times, it would crash while using windows. I am using an SSD with a HDD as a mass storage.

When I tried logging in this morning I got a BSOD saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". It kept happening after rebooting so I used system restore and that went away. But then I got a BSOD saying "a clock interrupt was not received on the secondary processor". This happens either right when I log in, or within about 10 minutes. I've been in safe mode for about an hour and it's been okay. I ran memtest86 for a few hours but there were no errors. I also cleared the CMOS.

This just started happening a few days ago and I can't seem to determine why? I also cannot seem to run the perfmon report as my system won't stay running long enough to generate it and I can't seem to run the report tool from safe mode.

I having a problem where if i set any short-cut on my desktop to a transparent one (both made in Photoshop, and one downloaded from here [7forums]) it will work until I log off (or restart ofc).I have tried rebuilding the icon cache - again it worked until I logged off - and also tried rebuilding the thumbnail cache - but with the same resultThe Install of Windows is fairly new only about a month old and although I do have a mod that removes the short-cut arrow this was happening before that point.

I built my first computer almost two weeks ago, and it worked just fine for a while, but now it repeatedly gives me a blue screen whenever I try to log in. Sometimes it happens after I type in my password and press enter, sometimes while I'm typing it, and sometimes when I just hover the mouse pointer over my user icon.
I attempted the System Health Report like the BSOD thread instructed, but that generates an error: The system cannot find the path specified.
64-bit Windows Professional Full retail version System age and date of OS installation is 12 days.

I've been getting BSOD for a while now. I bought my computer a couple of months ago. It was fine for the first couple of months but for the past couple of weeks, usually when I'm playing a game, I would get randomPage Fault in Nonpaged Area BSOD. Some days I dont get it at all but others a few times. Today out of nowhere I got it while browsing the web. Now every time I boot my computer and log in I get the BSOD. Restarted about a dozen times, same thing. By no means am I a computer Wiz but I checked the hardware, it seems to be fine. Updated all drivers. Tried to even log into a different User. Used System restore.

then the desktop finally loads. It only lasts about 60 seconds before BSOD'ing again. Safe Mode seems ok, but I was in the process of typing up this thread when safe mode shut down on me randomly. I've tried restoring to earlier points and running malware scans. Minidumps are included.

I am running windows 7 basic on an acer netbook and every time I log on I get a desktop that is covered in black except for the application shortcut icons. When I highlight areas of the desktop by dragging the mouse over it it gets rid of the black. Also I've noticed as I type this my text is is being entered way after I type it in like one letter at a time very slowly.

I am not sure if this problem is due to networking or security issue so just posted in this General discussion section.
These 2 days my Windows 7 Build 7232 got a problem that there is an alert message to show "I/O Error 103" when logged into Windows. I check in TECHNET support site and know it was due to "Cannot connect to the registry on site server X in site Y.".
The iso file of the Build 7232 was scanned with Kaspersky and found without malware nor virus.

It's a windows 7 home premium 64 bit new build pc. Very very carefully stuck together, very very carefully installed only the right drivers, very very carefully installed software to make sure nothing starts that I don't want starting and there are no lazy apps using up memory.
Windows 7 flies, it's a lovely machine now but occasionally I get a bsod at startup. I've followed the instructions and added a zip file with all the outputs.
