Intermittent BSODs On Startup 0x0000000a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Nov 21, 2011

It's a windows 7 home premium 64 bit new build pc. Very very carefully stuck together, very very carefully installed only the right drivers, very very carefully installed software to make sure nothing starts that I don't want starting and there are no lazy apps using up memory.

Windows 7 flies, it's a lovely machine now but occasionally I get a bsod at startup. I've followed the instructions and added a zip file with all the outputs.

Intermittent BSODs, Errors 0x0c2, 0x019, 0x05c, 0x00a

Jun 16, 2012

My laptop is around 9 months old, and first showed a few BSODs about 6 months ago. It is still within warranty, and I sent it back to the manufacturer, who apparently did a RAM burn-in or test, found nothing, factory reset it and sent it back. This solved the problem for a few months before it started again, and it has continued for the past month or so. The error codes are in the title in abbreviated form. The BSODs tend to occur when either loading the desktop or launching a program, but they aren't reliably caused by anything and I think they have sometimes happened when doing basic word processing/web surfing etc.I have run the windows memcheck for a total of 4 passes (2 on standard setting, and 2 on extended) and dskchk at least twice, both with no joy. I updated drivers, and finally the BIOS about a week ago. Since the BIOS update I have had no BSODs, but they are really sporadic (occurring sometimes every day, sometimes once a fortnight),I tried looking at the minidumps (attached) with BlueScreenView, which shows a problem every time with ntoskrnl.exe, and sometimes fbfmon.sys, fltmgr.sys, hal.dll, and fileinfo.sys additionally, but none of these other files are consistently flagged as problems.

Intermittent Startup Failures?

Oct 16, 2011

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) that was on sale at Costco. It arrived on Thursday, October 13. However, from the beginning it doesn't always start up correctly. About 4 times out of 12 it got up to the "Starting Windows..." screen, but the 4 lights don't come together to form the windows logo (that's the startup animation). Each time I did a hard reset, and then it would ask if I wanted to run Startup Repair.First time: I think this was before I even installed any of my own programs. Tried running Startup Repair... which failed to start up, and I reset again.

Second time: Immediately following the first, I decided to run Windows normally without Startup Repair, and it worked.Third time: I decided to try Startup Repair again. It went through this time, and when prompted to try a System Restore I did.Fourth time: ...apparently that didn't work, because it happened again. This one happened when I started it for the first time this morning, 10/16. I noticed that the Seagate Drive was attached when I started it this morning. I did another System Restore.Fifth time: 10/16. Pressed F8 and tried to start with Boot Logging. Not sure if ntbtlog.txt recorded the failure, or only the following time when I tried to boot in safe mode. (Safe Mode did work the one time I tried that)

Constant BSODs On Startup - System Recovery

May 22, 2011

[Using Windows 7 64-bit]. My computer has been working fine for months and out of nowhere I get a BSOD. I think it may be a one time thing so I just let it restart but I get a BSOD again. This keeps happening for 3-4 times. Afterwards I think a system restore might fix the problem. When I went to the startup repair screen, right when I'm about to click the system restore button I get a BSOD again. I think it may be something on my drive so I burn a recovery disk. When it's searching for my Windows installations, I get a BSOD again. All of the recovery methods I know of get blocked by this annoying BSOD.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0X000000a) BSOD

Feb 28, 2012

Unfortunately I now am running into a BSOD 0x000000a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. I have included the JCGriff file, Perfmon, and zipped up Minidump files (2 of them to be exact). I am unsure as to what the problem of this one is. I ran MemTest86+ for over 15 Hours and 9 passes and reported no errors. I will be running a chkdsk /r /f along with a Hitachi DiskFitness test. after I post this and will report back.

BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL During Install

May 6, 2009

I'm trying to install the newest build on an old laptop that currently runs XP. I try booting from the DVD, and after it gets to the point where the little green progress bar animation plays on the bottom of the screen, I instantly get the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bsod.

Other cases I've found of this bsod seem to be related to peripheral drivers, but it's a laptop, so there are none (per se).

Any thoughts?

BSOD Errors A1 (Memory_Management) And A (Irql_Not_Less_Or_Equal)?

Jun 19, 2012

I have had a very solid stable system since 2010, then I decided 6 GB of RAM and a 9800GT/GTX560Ti wasn't enough. I sold these parts away and replaced them with 24 GB of RAM and a GTX560Ti 448 edition. The instant I throw these new parts into my box I start getting the two different BSoD errors (the ones in the title). I have cleared everything of my previous overclocks with the upgraded components.System Specs: (bolded is what was introduced to the system which created the errors)Windows 7 Professional x647 930EVGA 132-BL-E758 (Motherboard)EVGA GTX560Ti 448 FTW EditionPatriot Extreme Performance (24 GB of RAM)If you need to know anything besides the core components that I have, let me know. Attached are the dump files.

The story so far:I have ran Memtest overnight on all the sticks of RAM and nothing comes up, it claims they're all good. I'm not sure how to test the graphics card, but what I can tell you is that I can login to Windows and within 5 minutes the BSoD shows itself. When in safe mode, (where I am right now), it runs more stable, but I have had it BSoD in here as well; It's just nowhere near as often. So, this makes me think its not hardware related and hopefully it's not because I have no other RAM sticks or graphics card to test with.My thoughts:I only used 3 of the 6 slots for RAM on the motherboard before this upgrade so initially I thought maybe I had a bad slot. I can't disprove that, but I still get the BSoD when using only 1 stick of RAM in a slot that was previously known as working. I uninstalled the graphics driver for my old GTX560Ti and downloaded the latest driver for my new graphics card and still get a BSoD.

Random BSOD - Error 0x0000000a And 0x00000050?

Dec 5, 2011

Been having random BSOD for the past week or so. Started on Sunday (11-27-11),where I had come back to my machine and it had been restarted... after logging in, find out that it was a BSOD. I then proceded to have 3 different BSOD events on Monday, which led me to perform a memtest on Tuesday morning to see if my memory was bad. After 2 full passes (I know, not a full 8), it didn't seem to be that, so I went ahead and did a System Restore from a backup from roughly 2 weeks prior. This led to solid performance for the next week, until this morning (Monday, 12-5-11) when I had another. All BSOD events seemed to occur at random times, so I can't say they were triggered by a specific event to the best of my knowledge.

I had performed the BSOD dump collection and Performance Monitor Report on last monday as well as doing the BSOD dump collection today. Regretfully, I cannot get the Performance Monitor to stop running today, so hopefully just the dump collection will be enough. As for my computer components:- HP Elite 7000 MT machine- Windows 7 Ultimate x64- Not the version originally installed on system- Hardware is a little over a year and a half old- 64-bit OS (originally had x86) wasinstalled 13 months ago.- Only non-stock hardware would be an added harddrive (just a backup drive, no OS on it), and I added 4GB more RAM (alongside the original 4GB) back in January.

BSOD During Windows Update, Error 0x0000000a?

Apr 13, 2012

Computer is still under warranty (purchased in January) but after a couple months, the customer support hasn't been able to hone in on the problem(s), so I'm just attempting some research myself on the blue screen codes I'm getting. Yesterday the motherboard and both RAM sticks were swapped out and I ran the recovery disks, so the operating system is fresh as well. (Hard drive has also been replaced and one RAM stick was replaced previously too.) Didn't see the blue screen happen, just came back and the computer was off and when I turned it back on it went to the windows recovery screen. When I booted to Windows normally it gave me the error, then finished installing the updates. After the motherboard switchout, it automatically boots from the front USB ports first, despite the fact that I've gone into the BIOS and excluded everything from the boot order other than the hd and cd/dvd. (So it'll boot from my jump drive and say 'missing operating system' and I have to restart.) Not sure if it's relevant information, but figured I'd include it.

Does Not Load Some Drivers (intermittent)

Oct 26, 2009

I'm rather new to Windows 7 but I've done my fair share of installing versions of XP and Vista to my machines and I've never run into this issue.

I have a Dell XPS M1330 computer with 3GB ram. I chose to install the 32 version of Windows 7 Pro from Vista Home. Everything, including Aero was confirmed would work when I ran the upgrade advisor. I did a clean installation after backing up all my files and loaded the most current drivers from the Dell website that were applicable to my serial number.

My problem is that when the OS is shut down or restarted PROPERLY, some drivers don't load properly and I'm stuck with a frozen home screen. I definatly know that my trackpad and video drivers aren't loading because the cursor will not move and the screen resorts to the lowest resolution possible.

However, if I do a hard re-boot by pressing and holding the power button, effectively triggering my safe-mode prompts, everything loads properly. It seems VERY strage to me that this would happen - I would expect it to either work or fail - not a combination of both!

I'm just curious if this is something anyone else has come accross - or if I should call Dell and make sure the drivers are current for 7 and try re-installing everything.

Intermittent Performance Since Upgrade To SSD

May 2, 2012

I wanted to hop on the SSD band wagon a few months ago so I grabbed a 64GB SSD down my local store.I'm pleased with the fast boot times and applications like Photoshop (which always used to take 10-15 seconds to open), which now open within a second.I have been having an annoying issue though since the purchase which has got me considering going back to my old drive. I have formatted and reinstalled windows and experienced the issue basically within the first few hours of the format, so i assume its the drive. Below are a few things I experience...

*I will be navigating directories and exploring files when all of a sudden the hour glass will appear and make me wait for 5-10 seconds before allowing me to resume doing what I was doing.
*This happens in all windows applications like firefox (while browsing webpages) or within photoshop while navigating in application menus.
*sometimes the application or windows menu will hang for a couple of seconds.. sometimes 30 seconds !
*I never experience any actual application crashes.. just 'hanging'
*If I ctrl+alt+del .. nothing happens UNTIL the computer decides it wants to 'wake up'.
*If I continue to do things while the computer is hanging, when it 'wakes up'.. it will 'fast forward' many of the actions I did while it was hanging (if that makes sense). It does this Intermittently.. sometimes I have a good hour.. sometimes it can be an issue for a few hours etc.
