I'm using a 2007 Toshiba Tecra M5 Laptop. I've run the SF Diag Tool, so here are the details.My laptop has thus far crashed 5 times today in a time span of 3 hours, what can I do to make this stop? Any ideas why this happens?
View 9 RepliesI was running a dual boot system with XP and Ubuntu in a 64 bit system. Had no problems whatsoever.
Recently installed Windows 7 in same dual boot system and Windows now crashes frequently. No BSOD- just shuts down quietly to a black screen. At first I suspected a heating problem but the system reboots immediately so overheating does not seem to be an issue.
Ubuntu has never crashed so I assume it is a Windows software problem.
I have not been able to identify an event which might cause this problem. I have run scans for malware and viruses using Spybox Search and Destroy as well as other similar programs.
Just to be clear, these crashes do not provide a BSOD and therefore no error code for me to research and correct on my own. In the last two days, this has happened 4-5 times, and most often while watching streaming video online (but not always). Without warning, everything will lock up (sometimes this is accompanied by a terrible sound emitted from the speakers - presumably looping audio from the video i was watching). The computer then reboots itself without my involvement. Before anyone asks, my drivers are UP TO DATE, and my BIOS is up to date as well. So far, I have asked around and most people point to my graphics card overheating, or a very dirty (dusty) pc as a likely cause. Firstly, my computer is generally kept very clean, and I am monitoring my GPU temps and they are usually WELL within normal ranges (frankly it runs very cool). I have called EVGA for support, and they told me they had not heard of this problem before. They had me run a bunch of gpu stress tests, all of which provided no clue (they were clean) as to what could be wrong. Someone else told me to make sure my RAM was properly seated. I did check that and I can't see any seating issues.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my HP Pavilion dv6233se notebook pc as a response to frequent system crashing and being unable to restart. I've updated all the drivers as far as I can determine, but I still get occasional BSOD. The blue screen is too blurry for me to read so I have no information to go on as far as codes or causes.
The most recent BSOD occurred while running IOLO System Mechanics, when I started the defrag tool, but I have since run the tool without incident.

i got a problem with Vista, a normal start causes a crash (+memdump), it only starts in safemode, how to repair it ? i have already ran the installation-disk several times.
whats a little bit mysterious is the fact that last time i used that Vista-partition it worked normally. i then copied all files to a new partition on another harddisk and i have since then used that partion instead.
i changed CPU 2 days ago, can that be the cause ? the computer is otherwise working OK, im running Windows 7 on a another partition.
I am installing Windows 7. I deleted all partitions during the install setup and created a new one for Windows to install on (plus the 100MB partition it created itself). The installation seems to go fine until the "completing installation" phase. The computer reboots and the Windows 7 desktop appears but an error window pops up that says "The system unexpectedly rebooted during the installation. The installation can not be completed." It also tells me to restart the installation (which I've done several times with the same result each time).
I know that the system meets (actually exceeds) the minimum requirements. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or what could be causing this problem?
I just got an Acer laptop. Sometimes, for no reason I understand, the browser will suddenly go back a page. I am using Firefox. I have not had this happen on any other system with Firefox. Is it something with the mouse on the laptop?

Iam using Win xp is corrupted So new Win 7 Ultmte and SP1 installed. All programs working, But Micromax pc suite is working, Selecting Dial up for internet (Sytem Unexpected shut down and restarting automatically). I have installed fresh pc suite also, avast free anti virus also booted, but same result.

The last thing I did was shutdown before going home and I believe it installed an update then shutdown, so I'm suspecting the update caused the problem.
I can't get into the F8 Safe Mode screen to try Last known good configuration so I think I'll try a System Restore from the install DVD. Does that sound like a good approach?
I don't have the specs with me but I think it's a 2.8Ghz Dual core Intel with 4GB RAM and two SATA drives. It's been running fine for about a year.
Occasionally (becoming more frequent) I get the error message saying "A Process or thread crucial to to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated" I have no idea what the cause is.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had this machine built just over a year ago, and only had occasional crashes (no particular activities seemed to generate the issue). About 2 months ago the crashes became more persistent, and upon restarting the machine would have trouble loading normal mode. At the screen that reads "welcome" the spinning wheel would simply freeze, and the computer would lock up. As this problem persisted the computer would either automatically reboot itself each time, or crash into a BSOD and run a dump. I can, however, start it in Safe Mode without issue. It had been running the same install of windows 7 ultimate x64 until a couple of weeks ago when I attempted to reinstall. This solved nothing, so I reinstalled again, this time deleting the partitions and formatting the drive. Again, the problems persist. I'm inclined to think they're hardware related at this point, but I'm in no way an expert.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've experienced 2 BSOD's today, both within 30 minutes of turning on the computer. I was doing nothing extraordinary either time, just browsing the web (in fact, the second time I was getting ready to post this). The blue screen flashed too quickly but I think it was stop error 116 and the file was ati something .sys. I suspect gfx card because of this. I've attached all the dump information.
OS is OEM, reinstalled 1 year ago. Mobo, CPU, RAM, secondary HDD are 2.5 years old. SSD (boot drive) is 1 year old. Gfx card, PSU are 6 months old. Other maybe useful info about the gfx card is that it has been behaving strangely before. Last week and other times, Windows Aero would suddenly turn off, and the gfx temperature would rise ~5-10C and fan would go crazy. Rebooting fixed this, at least temporarily.
I have SLI GTX 580s. Yesterday I was playing a lot of The Secret World and the computer was working fine. I shut down and today when I try to start it up I get a BSOD and the computer reboots. I can start it in safe mode and I get this message:[CODE]I tried both cards by themselves, one of them works fine but the other one gets these errors. I don't know what to do. They were both absolutely fine yesterday, no artifacts show up on screen for the card that isnt working, just when I install Nvidia drivers it all goes to hell.

I have a Compaq persario CQ62 laptop i was on facebook about a week ago and signed out and my computer froze i powered it down and when i turned it on i thought it was going to start and then it went to a blue screen. So I just got back from a 3 day vacation, and when I came back I rebooted my computer only to come back to the "Start Windows Normally/ launch startup repair" naturally I chose startup repair, it froze. Tried starting normally, took me back to the same page. So I tried booting in safe mode, took me to the BSOD that read Bad_pool_header. So then I tried to putting in my windows 7 installation disc to see if I could do a system recover from there, but as soon as I try boot up with the disc it takes me back to the same BSOD. I feel completely stuck as I've tried everything I can think of.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just tried to install an old IDE hard drive (via a SATA converter card ) as a slave and managed to screw up windows 7 boot-up. The system initially booted up fine but didn't see the new drive. After checking to see if all the ports were enabled in the bios I tried again. The system then didn't see any hard drives. I pulled out the IDE and re-started. The system now will see the boot hard drive but will not boot in either safe or normal modes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy office system is a Dell w/ Win7 and it's been running fine up until 1 month ago. Then it started this odd behavior. On a cold boot it runs about 5x to 20x times slower than normal, almost as if it's just running on a single core locked at 5%. Boot time to hit splash screen is 2.5 to 4.5 minutes (normal is 30 secs). And once I hit return on my pwd the system continues to run in super slow motion. If I just force a reboot, select Boot Windows Normally from the trouble menu, the the system boots in 30 secs, logs in fine, and runs normally.My boss has told me that other Win7 computers he owns/operates are now doing the same thing.I've no idea what could be causing this. Hearing that other Win7 computers are doing it tends to make me believe it isn't a problem specific to this computer or even this small office network. There are no USB devices other than the mouse and keyboard and we've switched those out. We'd recently installed virus protection software, but we removed that and the problem still continues.
The only other thing I can think of, is that we recently installed a printer driver so the system could print to a Brothers laser printer attached via USB to a computer across the local network. And come to think of it, my system wouldn't even see that printer and allow driver installation until we plugged the printer directly into my system. After installation we moved the printer back, and changed the settings for the system to find the printer across the network. I'll look into uninstalling that driver next time I'm in the office.
Update: New day, new slow boot. This time I forced an early reboot and I got the option to start a Windows Startup Repair. I started that, skipped doing a System Restore and let it run. Finally it came back with all tests fine except the following which crashed: System Files Integrity Check and Repair , Failed , Error Code #0x490 , Time Taken = 541573 ms. So it looks like the test that checks for problems crashed, leaving me to wonder if there might still be some hidden problem. And yet reboots run perfectly normal.
Yesterday I installed some software to help me partition my HDD. After the install my pc instantly crashed via BSOD. I cant even enter safe mode without this BSOD haunting me.
Ive tried to reformat with Windows 7, but now it wont even recognize my HDD.
My MB is a GA-MA770T UDP.
What do I do?
My problem is that I keep getting random BSOD crashes and this has been happening for about 2 months now.Now, my computer doesn't overheat so its not an overheating problem..It crashes at random times so if I play games it crashes randomly either after 1 hour or after 5 minutes of playing or sometimes it doesn't crash at all. It also crashes when I'm just surfing the web or watching videos but not as much as when playing games.

I recently got a Kensington HyperX SH100S3B/120G SSD. I've been getting these stange BSODs. It doesn't happen during any particular kind of activity, usually it's just browsing the web or writing documents or something.
Every time the BSODs happen, for some reason the boot order switches from the SSD to my backup drive, and I have to go into the bios and change it. But other than that, my hard drive seems to be perfectly fine functioning afterwards...what's causing this??
All my components are pretty new, so I don't think hardware failure is very likely here. I've thought maybe I should update my bios? But I'm not sure honestly. My mobo is H67MA-E35-B3 LGA 1155 H67 mATX Intel Motherboard.
I've been getting constant crashes and BSOD.. I've managed to get on, and get the dump.
