BSOD After "Remote Procedure Call Failed And Did Not Execute"
Nov 20, 2011
-Windows Home Premium x64
-Windows Vista initially installed; Dell provided a windows 7 Installation CD once it came out.
Hardware was bought ~December 2009. Installed Windows 7 once in 2010 and once earlier this year.
When I tried to make the System Health Report, it came up with "The system cannot find the specified path." I'm currently running everything from Safe Mode with networking since if I tried to boot up regularly, the system locks up with little CPU usage, explorer.exe fails and I get the error "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute" when I try to open any folder, the computer locks up again before finally BSOD.

When I insert USB Drive, the folder just load but its not opening at all, plus all the icon was gone. I have done scans for both malware and antivirus but none found. The only solution for this is when I remove the drive and restart the pc. I also experience this when sorting items without the usb inserted. After this problem I often get "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." Which restart is the only option.

I keep getting the The Remote Procedure Call Failed and did not execute error when opening my control panel or windows explorer on Windows 7.I've made sure the RPC is on and that the second service is on manual so that isn't the problem.

I can't seem to open any folder using Explorer in Windows 7 RC b7100, as it fails with the above error. This happened after Explorer stopped picking up metadata on files, and so I killed and restarted explorer using Task Manager. Files and folders on my Desktop still show up, and files still open in their respective applications, but folders won't show, as with the error. Happens with any local folder.I can't find anything on Google. I haven't touched any Explorer settings, and I'm not interested in an Explorer alternative. I can restart, but this has happened once before, so I'm thinking it'll happen again after a restart.

I have this Video file, (AVI, ~12GB) that I cannot in any way modify. I can't rename it, (If I do, windows explorer crashes) I can't move or delete it (When I try it gets stuck on "Preparing" ) But I can modify all my other files. Also, when I try this, if I don't end explorer.exe's task, and close the recycling window, my hard drive goes under extreme stress and explorer uses a total I/O of over 100MB/s! It is very frustrating, and I need the space. Also, when I try to drag and drop a file onto a program, (Vegas for example) it freezes the program and the I/O spikes, and stays high. Then, when I end explorer.exe, it loads into it.
EDIT: Now my hard drive is maxed out ALL THE TIME! My computer is running slow, My Resource monitor won't load any content (Processes using disk, memory, etc) I'm positive I don't have a virus, nothing like this has happened before?"The remote procedure call failed and did not execute"

I have bought a Dell Inspiron N5110 recently in Feb 2012, with following specifications: i7 processor, 750 GB HDD, 4GB RAM, 1GB NVidia GT525M Graphics Card. It has Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. I installed Intel Graphics driver and the nvidia graphics driver version given along with the laptop. (Version 268.30)
After installation in my Device manager there are two graphic cards shown:
1) Intel HD Graphics Family
2) NVIDIA GeForce GT 525 M
The NVIDIA GeForce shows as Code 43 error stating "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" in Device status. When I tried opening the NVIDIA control panel it says "You are currently not using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU". Then I installed Call of Duty - MW3 Game and the performance of the game is not so great. I visited nvidia website and searched for graphics driver updates and found the newer version (296.10).
I downloaded and installed it. This time the Code 43 error didn't happen and the control panel also is working. But after installing new driver, I tried playing the game again and this time the system gave the BSOD error. I tried changing the settings so that my game takes only the NVIDIA processor but still it gave BSOD error while modifying the settings in NVIDIA control panel.
Then I tried the following combinations and none worked:
1) Intel Graphics + NVIDIA old version - Code 43 error
2) Intel Graphics + NVIDIA new version - BSOD error
3) Intel Graphics Disabled + NVIDIA any version - Bad graphics with 800 X600 resolution. Game didn't even start.
4) Intel Graphics uninstalled + NVIDIA any version - Bad graphics with 800 X600 resolution. Game didn't even start.
Even my HD movies/half HD movies in my laptop stutter sometimes and I have no clue why it happens. My Laptop is still under warranty and I would like to know what should be the solution for my problem. Please find attached memory dump description folder as mentioned in the rules. I tried generating the performance report but it gave an error stating "error in generating the report".

I had lost my windows 7 partition after trying to put an XP install disk on a usb drive and the program wiped my partition. I then used testdisk to recover the partition and to my surprise it recovered the entire thing as the xp thing had just deleted the partition. I then tried to boot into it but since I've had said BSOD. I installed a new windows 7 install on a seperate partition since then and have been running from it but would love to get my old install back. I have tried running all fixboot options, etc. FixMBR will tell me it has repaired it but when I try rebuildbcd it tells me it cant locate the install, even though it'll ask me if the windows 7 install is the one i want. I have run a chkdisk which completed with no problems and an SFC on the installation which told me there were corrupt files it couldnt fix. I am attaching the CBS.log.

I know there have been a number of posts on this subject but I have been unable to find a solution. I have 2 Windows 7 machines, both running SP1.
My HP Pavilion is running 64-bit and my Dell Latiude E6400 is running 32-bit. I can successfully RDP from my Dell and even my Apple iPad (via an RDP client) into my HP Pavilion. However, the problem is that when I try to RDP from my Pavilion into my Dell I get connected but all I see is a BLACK from the Dell machine. The only thing i can see is the Status bar at teh top telling me that i am connected. A few moments later I get a popup message telling me that the machines have failed to communicate.
I have confirmed that RDP settings are identical on the Pavilion and Dell. I have even downgraded the Dell NVIDIA graphics driver to an older version based on the recommended version on the Dell support web site.

I am using Windows 7 Pro 64bit, trying to use Windows remote desktop to connect to another PC in the LAN and install software. Right click on the .exe and choose run as admin. As soon as I do that I get a black screen with 2 white bars in the upper left hand corner(looks like a pause button). The user who's pc I am connected to sees the log inbox for the admin creds, how ever I can not get to it. How can I make that screen stop popping up?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 (2.5 years old). All my data is backed up so I have no concerns about recoverying data.First, the laptop crashed and ran several chkdsk on start up. I froze several times during this. It said it had fixed some errors then started up again. This time it wanted to do start up repair. Same thing kept happening, froze at least twenty times during this. Eventually it gave me the blue screen of death.
'Technical information
*** STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8004C1D260, 0xFFFFFA8004C1D498, 0xFFFFF8000130DDA0)'
This repeated several times. I ran the diagnostics and it told me the hard drive could not be found (error code 0146, 2000-0146). Essentially, it's a Dell laptop (I know) and I am not bothered about recovering the hard drive.I would, however, like to install Windows 7, or alternatively Linux, onto my external hard drive. But I just can't seem to get it to work.I have extracted a Linux iso to the external hard drive I want to install on, onto a cd, onto a FAT32 8gb usb stick, but it has given me the bootmgr is missing error every time. I have tried it with the interal HDD in and removed.I am no longer concerned about the internal HDD, i can use it for a door stop for all I am concerned, I just want to load ANY os onto my external hard drive so I can get the laptop working.

We have several remote systems that can all connect fine. I am having an issue with one box. It is a windows 7 home premium machine with netgear wireless nic. When I open mstsc to connect to a remote machine I put in the ip address and click on connect.I receive an immediate failure with the text "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again...blah blah"I have a server 2008 r2 with Network level authentication enabled. I have 8 other systems that are hardwired, at different geographic locations and all connect fine. I have not made any changes on the server side since this problem seems to be local to this client only. On the client I have made the following changes/observations. I have disabled the firewall, cleared the remote desktop cache, remove the MRU entries from the registry, verified that port 3389 is open via telnet. I have been bashing my head for days trying to figure out why this one box is not working. The problem occurs for every user on the box including the admin.I don't receive the box that prompts for warning if there is a server authentication issue but I think that is because I selected ignore at some point and said yes to continue. I'm not sure where that cache resides to delete that selection.

When addressing an email, I begin by clicking on "to". Then the list of contacts appears and I have to click on the contact's name, select from "to/Cc/Bcc" and then click on the 'okay'. This seems to me to be a rather laborious procedure. Is there a way to modify WLM to simplify the addressing procedure. For example, after selecting (to/cc/bcc), a single click on the contact adds the addressee without having to move the cursor over to the far end to hit "OK"?

I'm getting an eVGA e-GeForce GTX 285 soon, and I currently have a BFG GeForce 8800 GTX in my system. I usually uninstall the graphics driver I have installed, and then swap the card and install it's new driver. Is there any other "better" way, or is that pretty much the standard procedure?
Is a registry sweep recommended to get rid of any remaining driver components? Do you recommend any programs to do this?

Running Windows 7 64-bit and just downloaded the lastest updates from Microsoft last night. Now my CPU is sitting at 20% due to Deferred Procedure Calls and Interupt Service Providers running constantly according to the resource monitor. What could cause this issue? Could it be a driver that downloaded from MS? I believe the fix for this would be to just restore back to before the install but I have a question about restore points. When I open up the restore point menu and it shows all the dates, do I pick the date of the MS update or one day earlier?

Since about a couple weeks ago my computer has been working fine. Then when i woke up on March 25, the minute my computer started i received an error message. I thought everything was alright but when i went to open my browser i received the message " The procedure entry point _except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll." and "The procedure entry point _ftol2could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.". Everytime i try opening a programs like Photoshop,Word, Malwarebytes and ESET... it gives me that message(I tried dowloading and running rkill with different names but the message also popped up). Strangly I can still open SuperAntiSpyware and open games like Chess. I have tried running Microsoft Security Esssentials with no results. I have tried running SuperAntiSpyware in all modes (including the rescue scan) and it said that everything is clean. When i clicked on something that was only avaliable to the paid version my internet browser(Internet Explorer) popped up(So i think its like the Security scam that does not let you use programs).

Do you know the 'proper' way I should handle the process in regards to Dropbox? Will others lose access to my 'shared' folders when I do this?

Im trying to upgrade my 32 bit home premium to 64 bit professional. I bought the new key from the student website and downloaded the files and extracted them. Then i burned those files onto a DVD and restarted my computer and modified the BIOS to have the first start priority to be the rom drive. The problem is that it seems nothing is executing when the CD is executed and it just goes right to the currently installed OS. I used the standard windows burner, is there something i need to click to make the CD executable?

Recently I have noticed higher than normal CPU usage from my laptop which I know will reduce battery life, cause higher temperatures and slow the computers performance. The task manager did not tell me too much so I decided to have a look in the Resource Manager.Sure enough under the CPU tab of the Resource Manager there is a process called System Interrupts that has a description of "Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines" with a average CPU usage of about 30%.I did notice that when I first turn my laptop on and boot in to Windows that this process uses about 1 - 5 % CPU usage and my temperatures stay at about 28 - 32 degrees Celsius.Usually after some time of using the laptop I notice this temprature rises to about 48 - 54 degrees Celsius and when I check the process it is using around 30% CPU usage, usually to resolve this I restart my laptop and everything goes back to normal and the process is back down to 1 - 5 % CPU usage.I done a little research online and found that clean boot of Windows may solve the problem, I did this then re-installed all the required drivers from my system manufacturer, installed Avast Antivirus Pro then done a Windows Update.

I know this sounds pretty silly but ive been using this hotkey for years and have gotten very used to it and this new way is definately not as efficient!

Is there some way to configure Windows 7 to execute commands (such as resolution changing, killing/starting processes and services, etc.) whenever the laptop switches from AC to DC and back? I have been using batterysaver from codeplex.com but it is still in beta and hasn't seen any updates for around 6 months. It is somewhat unreliable and I can't get it to trigger nircmd.exe to lower my resolution when I switch to battery or to raise it when I switch back.I think my best bet would be Task Scheduler, but I don't know how to make a power event a trigger.
