All of my stuff on Windows 7 shrunk ever since the update last night. Notice in the picture how my background doesn't fit the screen anymore and this java applet is much smaller than it used to be. What do I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo here's the problem; I had built myself a new computer, installed win7 (full version), and it worked fine for about 40-50 days untill the HDD failed. So I headed out and got a Western Digital HDD, installed it, unplugged the old HDD, set it up to be the boot drive along with the CD drive. Everything was set up just like the old hard drive. It prompted me for the boot disk, so I popped the disk and got the "Loading Windows files..." screen, got passed the "windows is starting" screen with the orbs, and got to the blue windows set up screen, but with no text or menu. I tried waiting and ended up wasting away an hour and 10 minutes; tried reducing the ammount of RAM, turning off USB acess and messing with the boot drives with the same results. I eventually got impatient and while on the blue wallpaper screen, I opened the disk drive and as soon as the disk stopped spinning, the language set up screen popped up, so I filled those out and clicked next, selected install and I was greeted by a window that told me to insert the windows CD, I closed the disk drive with the disk still inside, it started scanning, and it suddenly froze. I could still move the mouse but got no response on anything I clicked on. The screen just stayed like that and it keeps doing the same thing everytime I try.

OK, this is the most annoying thing i've ever experienced on a laptop/PC. Basically when I plug something into any of the USB's on my laptop my screen will go black, but if I run my finger across the trackpad it will light back up again for a second and then go black again, this continues no matter how many times i run my finger on the trackpad. If I take the USB out it still doesnt fix, it seems the only way to fix it is to unplug the power source.

This went away when I turned the computer on the following day, but has now come back. It doesn't seem to have any other adverse effects, but it bugs me. Can anyone explain why this might be and what I could do to make my BIOS full screen again?

The update is called:
nvidia - Graphics adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M.
After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
Cannot get themes or wallpaper to work only get black screen. Followed instructions for fix from Microsoft website but nothing changed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was given an case for an HP computer a while back. It seems only one or two years old. It has most of the original case parts within it, along with some wires. Now, a friend of mine has an smaller computer in a Mini-ITX case, and has been looking to upgrade both his power supply and his graphics card. However, most graphics cards don't seem small enough to fit within his case (height wise, at least. He has enough room in both length and width), and there's only a select number of Mini-ITX power supplies on Newegg (and the highest wattage is 400w). Logically, I figured he'd be able to take my extra case and fit everything else in there, but I was unsure if it would fit properly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot software restore. Can't start from disc. Changed boot order, nothing. f8, f10, f12,got my no where. Won't start in safe mode. I don't have the options that the instructions with the discs say I should have. Here are my options:
1. IDE1: Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD10RS
2. IDE0: WDC WD5000BPVT=22HX2T1
3. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI Device
1. Goes to eRecovery and just sticks there with a blue spinning wheel
2. Goes to f8 menu with no option for recovery or repair. When trying to start normally it goes to a blue screen with an error message that is gone to fast to read. Restarts
3. Goes to black screen with some unreadable stuff except for the word "failure". Restarts
This morning one of our computers started acting strangely. Any window screens we have open, whether an Internet Explorer window, My Computer screen, etc, the top bars are flashing in and out. It is similar to the flashing like when it is trying to alert you of an error message / box you have to click through to do something else. The home screen is fine, and shows no signs of flashing or flickering, it only shows on any window screens you have open. It will interrupt you when you are trying to open drop down menus etc as well. I have gone into screen resolution, but as soon as I open a drop down box, it will close as soon as the screen flashes again. However I was able to change the resolution to a lower setting, but it still flashed. I also tried to change the screen refresh rate, but there was only one option to choose, 60 hertz. The computer is an Acer Laptop, running Windows 7 and AVG Antivirus, but I dont have any other exact specs on it right now as im working from a different computer. My mother said it had updated last night with a possible new Windows update? Again the back / desktop screen appears fine, it just seems to affect any windows you have open.

I tried restarting the computer again, and it did the same thing. This started happening after installing updates. Safe mode works fine so I don't know what to do.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI Reinstalled OS a couple of days ago on my Win 7 64bit laptop, since a lot of files on my HDD were corrputed... Now, after reinstalling most of my programs and data, I go to play CoD2, and it was giving way lower FPS than usual. I couldn't try any other game because I hadn't installed any yet. So, I installed a high FPS config, and it didn't help, so I looked for solutions...I reset all CCC settings to default, and did something with DirectX etc (not sure if this fixed it or if it was just heat, or a program running). Even though the problem was gone, I already had Windows Update downloading, and it finished, so I ran it (game and browser window was still open). I selected ATI Mobility driver in the optional tab just for fun, on top of all the recommended ones, even though I already had the most recent one (from like December last year because it's the latest compatible for my laptop due to switchable graphics etc)...
It started installing, screen reset a few times, and then just went black and stayed there. Audio and everything is still running, but I'm left with just a black screen. Should I wait an hour or so, then force restart? Or what? Tried HDMI to TV, says no signal.TLDR; Left with black screen while Windows Update started installing GPU driver etc, audio still running, scared to restart because I don't want to corrupt... What do?
I've been reading about win7 backup. It says that it wont back up program files, recycle bin and other things. I cant tell if these exclusions are only if windows chooses or also apply to when I choose. My question is: can I get win7 backup to backup everything on my C drive, and if so how do I proceed.

And the problem is that this doesn't let me play Open GL stuff, and I don't have a clue on what my video card driver was before that (Don't know how to find it) or change to another video card driver
I'm currently in safe mode in my windows 7 laptop which I can only access this computer by. The reason is because when i try to boot windows regularly, I get past the login screen then to be pwned by some black screen with my cursor only displaying. I downloaded a software from IOBit called Advanced system care, then I ran a full system clean. I came back later to reset my laptop and encountered an update, I let it update. When the update was finished, I started getting the Black screen of death.
Things I tried:
- System restore (It couldn't find a restore due to the update)
- Uninstalling updates (No difference was made)
- The CTRL+ALT+DEL then some link for the fix (CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work)
- Start up repair (Nope, no difference)
- The /sfc command (It worked but, still no difference)
I'm think pretty much stuck as I don't have a Windows 7 CD, although I have a formatted USB, I'm considering downgrading to XP. But, I'm getting problems with that as well.
I have been using my Windows 7 x64 system for about 5 months without a problem. I booted it yesterday, and an autoupdate occurred as soon as Windows 7 started up. It looked like this autoupdate made changes to /COMPONENTS. As soon as it finished, the system rebooted, and got stuck on the eVGA P55 splash screen. It was stuck there for about 10 minutes, so I manually shut down the computer. Every time I turn it on now, I get stuck on the eVGA P55 splash screen. I can not get into safe mode or anything. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? Did some stupid Windows autoupdate crash my new computer? I am turning those off if that is what happened.

Obviously you all know that the anytime upgrade doesn't work with these keys nor can you upgrade using the iso provided. My question is, Is there any way to get around doing a clean install? View 11 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open anything from microsoft office 2003, that can be outlook, that can be a word document, that can be a powerpoint presentation or an excel sheet, my windows 7 taskbar and the computer in general slow down considerably, but expecially the taskbar lags for at least 3 seconds whatever I do (like moving the pointer over several icons so that the aero-thingy shows up takes 5 seconds to pop up the little windows or opening a new explorer window). So when did it all start? At first everything was fine, office 2003 was running fine with w7x64, then I installed the cisco system vpn client (64bit of course) because i need it for university. After that the problem occured and I haven't been able to make it go away since then.
1. I uninstalled the vpn client -> no changes
2. I uninstalled office 2003 and reinstalled -> no changes
3. Office is updated with the latest patch -> no changes
4. I tried to turn of aero (who knows?) -> no changes
