After A System Repair Clock Is 2 Hours Ahead
Sep 5, 2010
After a system recovery repair my clock is 2 hours ahead ..I am loath to change as I think windows time is corrupt..I know how to change it..but ...How can I tell..what might would happen to my system file, installs etc..if I adjusted the clock time or region.

Everything on my system is running like I like it to with the exception of the system clock in windows 7. It got this way when I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on a separate SSD that has to be chosen in BIOS. The Ubuntu clock is correct but every time I switch from Windows to Ubuntu and back again the clock in Windows is exactly six hours fast. I have re-set the clock to the correct time but this happens every time.

i decided to bring over my big backup drive last night. after connecting it i was getting some strange happenings. icons in the taskbar to the left were missing and the clock moved up to October. i then noticed problems with web certificates for gmail and google and other sites as well. it was quite frustrating! i was glad to figure out it was the clocks fault. but i am still feeling the the effects. games i play on the net don't seem to be following that the clock is alright. they continue to complain about invalid certificates and whatnot. i'm having problems reinstalling flash too. it's amazing how much of a problem this caused and is still causing! i hate to be rushy but i want to get a hold of these things as soon as i can. but i know it takes patience too. i'm not sure what else to do. luckily the offline installer for flash seems to work.

I bought a new laptop yesterday and today decided to create a system repair disk. I inserted a blank DVD RW and started the process the progress bar went to about 60-70% (estimate, does not give actual progress %) in half an hour and has now been at that exact same point for the last 5 hours. I have had no errors and the window still says "creating disk..." and it still sounds as though the DVD drive is still writing onto the dvd. I Wouldn't think it would take this long to create especially with no progress.

I am having trouble with a friends computer... his computer was becoming unresponsive with up to an hour start up times before he was able to use it. We tried to run anti-virus software but wouldn't complete any scans.
We decided to go ahead and save all the files he needed and do a complete system recovery f11 (format hard drives back to factory settings) when started it takes about an hour or two and hangs up at 9% and will go no further. Left it overnight to no avail.

I have windows 7 Home Premium and I am facing some problems with Hibernate and Standby. The first Problem is that my system doesn't hibernate but instead it just perform a log off. The second problem is that when I put the system in standby, it wakes up automatically after 2 to 3 hours which makes a serious problem if my laptop is in the bag.

I have just purchased a refurbished Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with windows 7 starter. Not sure if the problem I am experiencing is to do with a dodgy netbook or with the operating system. It set up yesterday without any major issues, a bit slow and sticky at browsing but then on powering it up today it started automatically installing updates. Fine I thought, but now some 10 hrs later it has been stuck on update 62 or 62 for the last 5 hours!
I basically can not do anything and have tried rebooting and switching off despite the screen's advise. I have no start menu and none of the keys are responding not even the F range. So am a complete blonde as you may have gathered on such technical matters anyhow. Should I return or is there a simple solution to fixing the matter?? Screen states 'Please do not power off or unplay your machine. Installing update 62 of 62'.

Created it with no problems, apparently at least. My BIOS is set to boot from CD drive, so why won't my machine boot from the system repair disk? There were no errors when disk was created. My machine just boots to windows.
Anyone else experience this with Win 7 Professional?

Lately my bottom right display on the task bar is disappearing. This includes the clock, and all system tray icons. All I have to do is open the task bar properties and click OK and then it comes back. This does not happen after a reboot, it just happens suddenly for no reason, and a couple times a week.

Living is south FL can be a bitch when the rains come as there often is a ton of accompanying lightening that plays havoc with the electrical system, even though I have surge protectors inside and outside the house. We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup. At that point, Start Up Repair came into play. Although I routinely backup on an external drive, of course I never did it this month-DUH!Results from SUR were error free (error code=0x0) on all the parameters tested, however there were the following error codes reported:"Unspecified change to the system configuration might have caused the problem." Failed: 0x1fRepair Action: System FilesFailed: x490There were more options to select for a recovery task, but I didn't try them as they didn't seem to be as salient as the two above.

The other day I was trying to figure out what coral paintshop pro meant by security key, so I googled it. Something popped up and asked me if I wanted to download, and I wanted to say no, but my laptop's mouse is too sensitive at times, so I accidentally clicked yes. My computer automatically shut down right after that. Every time I turn it on now, it goes straight into System Repair and it doesn't work, it says it cannot repair. I've tried System Restore, but since that doesn't get rid of the documents that have been downloaded, it isn't helping either. My computer won't even let me enter any form of Safe Mode, it just goes straight back to System Repair.

yesterday I was enjoying a match of league of legends on my computer and it completely froze up on me. I had no option but to give it the hard shutoff, so I held down the power button. Upon starting my computer back up, I was brought into system repair. It tried to repair and then said it could not be repaired, and so I restarted it. It then said it went into repairing once again and said it may take up to an hour. A minute later it said the errors were fixed, and restarted the system for me. It then continued to do that and has been doing that every time I restart it.I tried logging in to safe mode but it just brought me into system repair.I tried to restore to an earlier point but the restore failed.I tried using a Windows 7 Reinstall disk and had odd results. The first time it said a file was missing during the expanding files. The Second time it got to completing install and then said the disk was missing files to complete and to contact the disk manufacturer. I'm currently running it one more time to see if I can get it to work. All I have plugged in is the mouse, the keyboard, and the monitor.

I do have a Windows 7 Ultimate setup disk. How can I make a Windows 7 64-bit repair disk?

It always says that the problem cannot be fixed; this has been going on since last night and I've tried several methods, none of which seem to work. It won't even let me access the login screen; as soon as I start my laptop it goes straight to startup repair.

I personally still use xp pro x32 so I'm not fully up to speed with win 7.The beast, hereinafter called 'it' has started going into infinite boot ups and trying various fixes (including restoring the hives) have been unsuccessful and the original hives put back. It was originally a Vista OS and was upgraded to Windows 7. Before it went sick, AVG10 reported trojan.Redbrowser. Despite providing instructions to remove, my friend reported that the trojan had stopped doing whatever it was it did. (Hmm, I don't think so) Anyway a few days later AVG10 apparently disappeared and stopped scanning. The infinite reboot started and 'it' is now in my hands.
Won't boot 'Last known good ...'
Won't boot in safe mode
Won't boot to safe mode command prompt
Tried system repair (auto) - both from it and from Windows 7 cd - same result 2-iterations get me to login screen, leaving alone or logging in. Same result - reboot Using recovery options - system restore - attempting repairs gives unknown Bugcheck f4 params 0x3, 0x84c81c48, 0x84c81db4, 0x8201bd60 clicking finish gives a reboot but cancel gets me to 'choose a recovery tool'Using system restore gives unsuccessful - failed to extract file C:windows$Nt..from restore point. There are 3-other System Image restore points in Backups , but get message 'selected backup not found'. The backup sets are on another partition on same disk and can be seen from command prompt provided in the recovery options but I can't find a way to tell 'it' to look there.I've tried both rstrui and wbadmin from the command prompt but still can't get them to see the backups - just 'not found' errors.

I got a new computer on friday and have set it up today. I installed my windows 7 home premium 64bit and it downloaded,i then went on to put in my xfx AMD graphics card software disk and the download stopped half way through so i started it again and it got right to the last step where it has to re-start the computer. When it started up again insted of loading windows homepage it loaded the system repair screen, it searched and searched but said it had found no problem, so i clicked on the recovery tool restart option that then re-started the computer and the process started again and went straight back onto the system repair screen again. Is there anything i can do to stop it?

I bootcamped my Macbook Pro 15" (2010) model and installed Windows 7 within a 40GB partition. Shortly after I ran out of space and needed to upgrade my partition. So I created a system repair disc and created a system image. Then I rebootcamped and installed Windows 7 on an 80GB partition. Before I reinstalled and repartitioned my hdd, I booted from my system repair disc to check for functionality. It worked fine and allowed my the option of checking or unchecking the box that reads "Format and repartition discs". Now that I've reinstalled windows 7 AND all the apple drivers using my OS X disc, when I boot from the system repair CD and follow the steps, I cannot uncheck the box asking to format all discs. I can't do this obviously because it would format the entire hdd and delete my OS X partition which has all my stuff backed up on and has all of my data.
