I recently purchased a new pc with Windows Vista installed. My old pc used XP. The appearance theme I prefer is the "Rose Large" in windows classic. This theme is not shown in the windows classic menu on my new pc. Is there anyway I can access this theme with Vista?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI ran the patcher that came with this Vista theme SoulGlass by ~bubito on deviantART and now some windows have Aero and others have what looks like a messed up windows classic theme. I tried using vista glazz to patch it back. I tried restarting multiple times. I tried switching to classic theme and back. Nothing works. I have Vista Ultimate 64. Here's a screenshot.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm kinda desperate atm. My laptop has this annoying habit of reverting back to windows standard/classic theme after almost every restart. I said almost as after 2/3 and sometimes even more, my aero theme correctly appeared. After another restart right after that, the problem occurs all over again. The search function in the start menu and windows explorer also 'failed to initialize' when in the said windows standard/classic mode.
I figured that this might have something to do with my user profile as I have the 'User Profile Service service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded' problem once very recently but I've fixed it using the tutorial in this forum. The windows standard/classic theme problem had been on for quite a while back, before the user profile problem. Before all this happened, I've had this 'C:WindowsSystem32configsystemprofileDesktop refers to a location that is unavailable...' problem. I fixed that by copying all my files and folders in my C:Users[Username] folder to the location above and replacing all the files including desktop.ini. It is only after this that I've had the windows standard/classic theme problem.
I couldn't help but wonder if somehow my user profile has got something to do with it? Windows system restore could not fix this problem. By the way, I'm using a modified aero theme at the moment, using TuneUp Utilities 2009 on a Vista Home Premium 32bit Acer 5920G laptop.
I have a Vista PC with a large screen LCD screen attached to it. What I want to do is use a Vista Tablet to be able to control the large screen so can present documents on it such as PowerPoint slide shows and be able to use the functions of the tablet i.e. using the stylus pen to add notes on top of the current document shown on the large screen. Basically use the large screen as a external monitor but have it connect through a wireless network. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what do I need to get it working.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have outlook 2003 on several pc's and all attachments come through fine. We got 2 new pc's with this p.o.s. Vista home premium on them and they come with Windows Mail (formerly outlook). Well, hardly any attachments come through with Windows Mail, while outlook 2003 is working just fine. The help file on Windows mail says to go Tools, Options, Security, and to uncheck the boxes that keep attachments from opening. I have done this, and of course, it doesnt work. Messages continue to come through without any attachments on Windows Mail, while the the pc's with outlook are just fine. Most attachments in any kind of file format don't come through. We are particularly concerned with PDF files which we need more than anything else.

My laptop has very few applications I installed and only one is over 1GB and its a bit torrent full of music(2.4GB) so does it really take such a massive supply of memory just to run it?

As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
I shouldn't be surprised but here goes....I checked today for SP1 on windows update.. According to my computer no updates available however updates were last installed on 03/13/08 and yet when you look at installed updates it shows a windows defender update installed today. I have been reading several posts on this problem and have noticed that Carey Frisch posted a link to troubleshoot and now here is a problem and that is none of these apply to me... Once again Go figure!! Running Vista Business 32bit here in the good old USA and of course the English versionVista is and has always been updated right on schedule....

Now 5 months later is states that I need to validate. I guess whatever was running on my system was temporary. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running vista 64 home premium and I have noticed that on a number of windows games the hint windows are dispalying over large fonts so you cant read the entire hint. for example in freecell when you try to move a stack of cards thats too large the hint window is supposed to tell you how many cards you are able to move at that moment, but that part of the message is off the egde of the window. Ive noticed this with all the card games the mahjong game even the kids game Purble place. Ive tried adjusting the fonts dpi setting and even the advanced setting from personalizations.

When I try to install the version 8.5 (from the ATI site) nothing happens. What can I do.. its so ironic that I, who think vista is a bucket of crap, know more than most fanboys about their OS. So here is the lesson of the day:
(*) Classic is slower than aero on machines that are aero glass capable. This is a clear fact that so many have gotten wrong is hilairious. Even tech geeks give this as one of their tips to make vista faster.
If your card doesnt support aero then classic is as slow as with the aero basic theme, and that means absolutly NO acceleration (compared to XP that DID have GDI acceleration that was lighning fast!) But its not faster with classic theme. Its slower........
I'm still using XP and I always use the classic style.
Recently, I've been thinking about switching to Vista 64 someday, but I've got a question about the classic theme:
I know that the theme is available, but does it give me complete access to all the functions available? I think I heard somewhere that some things won't work properly because Vista's GUI just differs very much from the older ones, and so there are functions that are not accessible anymore.
Is that true? Can the use of the classic theme really narrow my set of functionalities?
