I recently just re-installed Windows Vista Ultimate and before i had no problems what so ever. But... now when i tried downloading a file to the downloads folder or anywhere els it does not save. I have a problem that appears in the MS Office 2007 applications but I suspect it is a Vista issue.....hence my post here. I am saving a new Excel file to a directory and I want to give it a similar name as a text file that already resides in that directory. However, when I "Save As" the Excel file in the selected directory, the only other files I see in that directory are other Excel files. I don't see any of the other files that I know are in there (Word, Powerpoint, pdf, etc.). In prior versions of Excel, I have been able to see all of the files in a
destination directory....is that still possible with Office 2007 with Windows Vista?
I have opened an xls file from my inbox in windows mail. I worked on it and modified it. Then I pressed the X button to close it and excel asked me if I wanted to save the file. I said YES, and it saved the file. Now I can't find it in anywhere. I reworked on the file like 2 hours. I must find it. Already searched everywhere documents, temp files etc.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was trying to import some videos I downloaded online and it says,"The file C:UsersRosalieDownloads[DB]_Naruto_Shippuuden_010_[EC7747DE].zip cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again." But, I already installed the DivX codec that the website I downloaded the clip from recommended and I tried restarting WMM.
I know that I did this before on my old computer. I downloaded videos from the same website, and I had to download the DivX codec. Once I downloaded the codec, the files worked, and i was able to download them. Does anyone know why it won't work for me now? Could it have anything to do with the files having been downloaded as zipped folders?

Presently I have 1.4 GB and around 11000 files and 400 folders in my Windows Mail and not surprising it's a little bit slow when starting. However it works fine and fast. Could I continue forever let's in a couple of years having 140 GB and 1000000 files and 10000 folders? Don't know how Windows Mail uses memory RAM and sidefiles when opened. Is that a limiting factor? I'm using Vista 32 bit with 2 GB RAM.

As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
I shouldn't be surprised but here goes....I checked today for SP1 on windows update.. According to my computer no updates available however updates were last installed on 03/13/08 and yet when you look at installed updates it shows a windows defender update installed today. I have been reading several posts on this problem and have noticed that Carey Frisch posted a link to troubleshoot and now here is a problem and that is none of these apply to me... Now 5 months later is states that I need to validate. I guess whatever was running on my system was temporary. So I try using the windows vista recovery disc to repair windows but it does not show up in operating system list in the recovery disc so I click on the option that says to click if your operating system does not show up on the list and it brings me to this file explorer and requests a configuration file in order to view vista. So could you please tell me what configuration file is the one I need and where I could find it on my hard drive since windows is still intact on it, only the bootloader is gone.

I attempted to install Vista Business on Monday and the system would never get to the point where it would ask to create the user account without going into a reboot loop that I couldn't get out of (even in safe mode). After removing and replacing hardware, the only thing that would solve the problem was to remove 2 of the 512 sticks and leaving the RAM at 1GB. Now after vista is installed, I can't put the RAM back without having the reboot loop return. Does know how I can get Vista to recognize my other 1GB without getting all mad and throwing a temper tantrum?....
