Uninstall PICASA Data Base

Feb 14, 2009

I would like to uninstall PICASA, but save my data base, of the folders and the albums I have created. Some other systems appear to let you do this. however my problem is that the path goes Start/all programs/PICASA/uninstall. I don't seem to be able to keep my database of holiday pictures - which I've spent so long on sorting. I was wondering if there is a way around this

Uninstall Without Loosing Data?

Mar 23, 2008

I have this itching feeling to try and see how my system runs on Vista x86-64. For that I _WANT_ to do the following. If I can't do it the way I want it, I want to uninstall Windows Vista x86-32 without re-formatting/repartioning my primary HDD partition where Vista is currently installed. This way I can proceed to install Vista x86-64 without having to worry about my Movies, Audio and Video data already on the drive getting wiped out! Can it be done? Oh, btw, the current install is a fresh, clean install about 4 months old, and the 2 OS [xp and vista] are oblivious to one another [i.e., i dont have an OS choice menu. To boot into Vista, I select my 160 GB at boot-up and for XP, I select my 40GB]. And, I would like my Vista x86-64 to follow in the same footsteps.

I'm running 32 bit Vista Ultimate with Service Pack One. I have a problem that is driving me batty. When I open Windows security center and try to turn on Windows Firewall I get a message stating: "Windows Security Center can't turn on Windows Firewall."

I attempt to turn on Windows Firewall manually but get the message: "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall service." As per advice I saw on another thread on this forum (i believe) I opened a command prompt as an administrator and ran "SFC /scannow" several times. Each time I get the message:.........

Doesnt Have The Software Base That Is The Forgiver Of All Microsofts Trespasses

Sep 21, 2008

Now lets get this straight, I am a grown man of 44, i have three children 7, 6, and 4, and I have been playing with computers since i was inputing binary on the switches of my 2650 SCMP kit microprocessor back in the 70's. I LOVE VISTA, yes i shouted it! Vista works, Vista runs nicely, Vista looks nice, Vista is the end of XP. And I still remember, like going back to an ex girlfriend, wanting to run back to Win98SE when i took my first faltering steps with the new shiny XP Pro. Now that indexing has had time to settle in, i have a steady processor resting rate of around 10-20% with DreamScene and Sidebar running and the usual 7-15% i have experienced since XP when DreamScene is paused or stopped, but with all the sweet (neccessary!) dressing of Aero and all its trimmings. Except for the MotoGP series games needing directinput and not liking XInput I have all my games running at least as well, and I do believe in some cases better than under XP. I have updated all my usual apps and have now alcohol runs better than XP, and after getting the latest WinRar I have a comfortable workspace enough to enjoy the journey into this brave new Vista world.

for the Linux naysayers, i have been compiling my own kernel since Version 1.something, and as nice as Linux has become, it still isn't Windows, and doesnt have the software base that is the forgiver of all Microsofts trespasses, so after my long journey through the wilderness, here we rest at this lovely place called Vista.

Uninstall Call Of Duty Other Than Through Putting In The Disk And Pressing UNINSTALL Or In The 'All Programs'

May 5, 2008

can you tell me a way to uninstall Call of Duty other than through putting in the disk and pressing UNINSTALL or in the 'All Programs'? Because it just won't uninstall there: I press install and the window simply closes and nothing else. I am asking this because I have found some patches on the Activision website (now I can get on it again) and I wan't to reinstall it...

Program Wont Uninstall It With Uninstall Or Install Cleanup Utility

Nov 20, 2008

I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.

When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.

'uninstall' Button Disappeared, Can Not Uninstall Program

May 27, 2008

Somehow the 'uninstall' button disappeared for most programs on my Vista Home Premium box when I used Control Pannel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program. A few programs still have 'uninstall' button available - those have 'installed on' showing. The rest (80+% of all)don't have 'installed on' values showing and don't have 'uninstall' button.

Bluetooth, "base System Device" And Fails

Mar 22, 2008

I recently bought the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 7000 keyboard/mouse combo. It is bluetooth driven and comes with a bluetooth dongle that plugs in via USB. When I plug it in, it detects the hardware and beings a 4 step 'new device software installation'. The first 2 pass, then it comes to installing a "base system device" and fails. I do not believe it is recognizing the dongle correctly and this is where my problem sits. I can manually install the driver through device manager for "microsoft tranceiver v3.0 for bluetooth" which is what it is stickered as, but even doing this does not get it working properly.

I am running Vista x64 Ultimate, I have all the latest MS software for this media package installed, and it also links to a Vista hotfix -- KB925528. When I try to install this it says "this update does not apply to your system". It's possible I have previously installed this via windows update, but if not then I don't know why it says that.

DATA PROTECTION Fraud Antivirus: Data Protection Is A Counterfeit Application Which Pretends To Be A Legitimate Security Tool

May 15, 2010

Data Protection is a counterfeit application which pretends to be a legitimate security tool. It is also from the same rogue family as Digital Protection, Your Protection, User Protection, Dr. Guard and Paladin Antivirus. The trojan based software starts its activities as soon as it installs onto your computer. Malware has no ability to detect and terminate the parasite. It only gains that user lose their vigilance and would buy a registered version of Data Protection application.

This is a fraud and dangerous for your computer. Behind an offer stands bad people who will use your money for malicious intentions. This application is not worth spending your money. As any malware this one will scan your computer automatically and will show fake results. You should ignore it. Do not fall for this blatant scam. Data Protection can also redirect your web browser to deceptive web pages that advertises “full” version of the security tool. Do not buy it, but choose decent anti-spyware application and terminate Data Protection upon detection. - the conclusion is that Malware bytes does remove it,, you need to download the lastest malware byte or update the one you got. Won't Copy The Data

Sep 19, 2009

So I just got a new computer, a HP Pavilion running Vista, and I have a older hard drive that I want to copy data from. The hard drive came from a system running XP. It's a older hard drive, a Seagate 80 gig IDE connector hard drive, so I went out and bought a external hard drive device bay -- you just put the hard drive into it and then plug it into a USB port on my computer. If I plug it in, all that happens is every 10 seconds I get a pop up a message saying: "You need to format the disk in Drive J before you can use it. Do you want to format it?" Of course I don't want to format it, I'd lose the data I'm trying to copy! If I click cancel it just keeps bugging me about it and I can't access the HD.

(I think the power supply went out) Whatever the case I am not going to get the XP computer fixed, but I do want some files off the old harddrive out of it. How do I do that? I'm hearing of a USB adapter of some sort that will do it...is that true? I went on Ebay, saw some USB's but am not sure they will do what I need for them to do.

Burning A Data DVD

Jun 21, 2008

I'm on windows ultimate.. I need to burn a DATA DVD.. for some reason this is proving a challenge.. you can't do it w/WMC, as it doesn't afford possibility of browsing to folders you want to burn. my roxio 10 isn't letting me do it either (when I go to "Data and Backup" I get to a window where under "Data Disc" it says, "Easily create and bun a data CD or DVD or save a disc image to your hard drive"... so I click on this "Data Disc" link, choose folder, click on yellow button at bottom right ("click this button to continue") but it just hangs. nothing happens.. (and yes I do have a blank DVD loaded in the drive...)

just downloaded a trial version of nero.. same thing, you can do all sorts of fancy stuff, like burn music DVD's, movies, video, do fancy menus, slideshows, etc.. but I want none of that, I just want to burn a bunch of JPG's to a DVD (A LOT of them actually, only reason need to burn them on a DVD instead of a regular data CD is that it's so many images that I would have to burn about four CD's to burn all the images I want to burn..) I just want a DATA DVD that when user inserts it in the machine they can browse the files. but this is proving a bit difficult, which is a bit strange, I mean this is a very simple thing. how can I do this..

Cannot Access Data

Nov 10, 2008

I am really unsure of this and I have seen some similar threads. Apparently, the attributes to my User folder were adjusted. This has changed the items on my desktop and affected my ability to get my docs and pictures. My user folder is prop'ing at 6 gb, so I know the data is still there. However, I cannot access it. I saw a few threads that mention changing Read only and hidden, but I don't know what to trust. I tried creating an Admin account, and setting ownership to (MyUsername), but the items are nowhere to be found.

SP2 RC : Do Not Uninstall

Jun 23, 2009

I have tried all the official and miscrosoft published instructions on uninstalling SP2 Release Candidate for Vista Ultimate (in my case 32 bit). I have tried with tech support. So I have really gone the extra mile. I have very compelling reasons to not perform a new installation because of lost set up programs and keys which are essential to my business. I do have backups which go back before the SP2 installation (Release candidate). Is there no way or does anyone have knowlege of maybe just the directories or files I would need to reinstall; to uninstall RC 2 for Vista ?

Is There Is No Way To Uninstall Sp2

Apr 29, 2009

I downloaded Vista x64 with built in sp2 RC. I have an msdn membership, and I put this on my laptop. It now says I have an eval copy. I understand that sp2 makes it say that, but my big question is that there is no way to uninstall sp2. Am I screwed when the final sp2 comes out? I understand you need to install previous betas to put final on.

long product key and wait for the online activation every time. really annoying. i tried almost everything uninstalling the update and many computer recovery tries but after uninstalling the update for like 1/2 - 1 h and restarting (without a activation needed) i tells me, sp1 was not uninstalled...............

Can't Even Uninstall IE7

Oct 18, 2009

I was having so much trouble with IE loading (it took minutes not seconds) that I switched to Foxfire in the summer. However I still have to use IE for certain client sites. It was taking forever to load but then seemed OK. Now not only does it take several minutes to load it also has a very slow response time when I click on anything. Sometimes I have to click on a web page menu item twice just to get it to recognize I clicked. It's not my mouse/touchpad. It's not my internet connection (blazing fast on another). I have tried so many tools/checkers. I've deleted cookies, files, history. I've deselected all add-ons. Just to click on HOME takes forever to be recognized that I even selected it. It gets worse. I can't even uninstall IE7. It's not under the control panel as a program OR not listed as a an update. I've tried going to MS website to try a fresh download but can only get a download for XP (I have Vista). Does anyone have any links?

Can't Uninstall IE8

Aug 17, 2009

I have been having problems opening attachments on my both my IE email and hotmail accounts. Have been putting off the problem because my life has been too busy to really deal with it. However after taking my head out of the sand I am desperately trying to figure out what is going on. I have read a gazillion (give or take a few) discussions about this. I have tried to download another browser however I find that I can not download anything. It goes through the motions but I can never find anything on my computer even after doing a search. Some say it is IE8 and to uninstall this. I have looked and can not find any place to uninstall IE8..if in fact that is what I have. Everything I see just says IE..no number after it.

Can't Uninstall

Jul 24, 2009

Recently I had a pretty bad virus on my computer. I sent it to someone and he removed various trojans and installed his recommended virus-protection softwares on it. It's not a result of him doing anything to it, as it was happening before, I assume as a result of the virus, but now when I log on, after typing in my password, it displays the 'welcome' loading screen for a ridiculously long time (about a minute), but then the screen goes completely black and all I see is my pointer. After another minute or two it actually loads the desktop.

Then there's Fraps and some other programs, which, before the virus, opened fine, but now asks for admin permission in order to open. What's even stranger is that it can't uninstall. When I start the uninstall process it just opens the 'uninstall' window and gets stuck there. My computer also seems to be slower than usual. Everything seems so messed up, should I just totally wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything? Most of my files are stored through Steam, which is mainly online, so I only have about 10 gigabytes of saved files to back up...

How To Uninstall DX9

Oct 31, 2008

I loaded up a brand new install yesterday and installed all of this in the following order. I let windows install SP1 thru windows updates online. I normally use the 700+mb vistax64wave0.exe (5 language offline installer package). Everything was working fantastic with this, until...The very last thing I installed after everything SP1 + All windows updates were completely done was DirectX Aug 2008 Redist. Now my system is sluggish and my games run very slow and produce mouse lag which didn't exist until I installed this. My thoughts on this was, hey newer drivers and fixes are always better right? WRONG! What a nightmare every since I installed this directx aug 2008 redist. I need to know how to remove DX9, so I can use the web updater without affecting the DX10 aspect of the vista OS. Something that was packaged inside of the redist has caused me major software conflicts. I only updated directx for gaming, is it even worth it to update directx?
