after installing windows 7 from vista my in internal mic no long picks up my voice. i have a sony vaio VFN-FW21E i have attempted using it on MSN messenger and setting up that way but still, problem continues if anyone had an answer to this.
View 6 RepliesI'm having a difficult time restoring my computer to its factory settings. I already backed up most of my important information on a # of DVD discs. I just can't get Windows Vista (32) to re-install. I tried pressing F-10 when the computer starts and Launch the Vaio Recovery. It went through most of the reset but then the screen just goes blank for a very long time and I'm sure its frozen there. The computer I am trying to reset to factory settings is a Sony Vaio Desktop VGC-LT18E, the model it says on the back of the computer is a PCG-281L. I never made the recovery discs. Is there any other way to get these discs without ordering them through SONY? Online versions? Etc..?

View 8 Replies View Relateda friend has a new sony vaio with vista home premium installed. For some reason it will not connect to my netgear router wirelessly. I have tried everything. I am however not too hot on Vista as this is my first time with it. The adaptor says its on, but when you interegate it and ask why it wont connect it keeps telling me "switch on wireless adaptor capability". In the network connections it is on, the switch on the front right is swiitched on and the wireless network light on the front is on. The network is fine and working as i have my laptop connected to it. All security is present and entered. It seems to be the computer as it doesnt find any networks when there are loads in the area. Am i missing something exceptionally obvious? Does Vista have another "on" switch for this adaptor?

I have uninstalled google desktop.
The system is totally virus and spyware free, and the anti-virus is not scanning (schedule scan disabled). All Vista updates are installed. Nothing has helped. I've run out of things to disable. I'm running Vista Business SP1, Dual Core 2.2 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM.
- have 64 bit vista
- want to replace it with 32 bit vista which came with my laptop
- have 32 bit OEM recovery disk
- Run recovery disk but it cant find the 32 bit files to start recovery
How do I do a clean install of the 32 bit vista from the sony recovery disk// anyone gone through this?
I have a brand new vaio and when I shut it down last night it "hung" - so finally I switched it off at the plug. Today I cannot get anything other than a blue screen.
Should I take the battery out and try and re-install it or is this something that a computer expert will have to sort out. Its such a pain.
I am running Windows Vista Business on a Vaio VGN-TZ21WN and I loathe the entire experience. The notable changes in SP1 list gives me some hope, however SP2 won't come up in Windows Update. Before I use the standalone install, I have read all the possible reasons why this might happen and it appears the only driver issue left is the Intel video chip: I am stuck with 7.14.10.1387
The update from Intel won't install - asking me to get an update from Vaio. Vaio are not offering anything new yet. Longshot time: Has anyone else here forced an install SP1 in a similar situation? I am keen to at least try and fix this nasty, nasty OS before I am just forced into buying a Macbook instead.
I have the (presumably) dreaded "problematic driver" issue on my VAIO VGN-430N/B Laptop. It uses the "stwrt.sys" driver noted as problematic on MS's website for SP1: (SP1 not offered by Windows Update). An updated driver is not available on Sony's website or on the MS Update website.
I suppose the best thing to do is to wait for Sony to figure this out and put the update on their website or send it to MS for inclusion in the MS Update process. Apparently, after that is updated, SP1 will be offered. Funny, Sony support knew nothing about this issue. Told me to try defraging my drive and to try again... sheesh! that's my plan. It occurs to me that this may be a better plan than downloading the full SP1 and trying to "force fit" it into your system. I've read so many heartaches about trashed systems.
my friend has lent me a dvd with a recording of a sports game on it but when i try and play it i wont open at all, nor can i convert it using dvd to video file thing. I tried to download the camcorders driver from the sony support site but need to have the actual camcorder to install it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use a 3Com 3CWRDR100A-72 router that has worked faultlessly with many devices in my house; I use MAC Address filtering for security. However I have a brand new Sony VGN-FZ21Z that will not connect wirelessly to it...well sometimes it has but most of the time it doesn't, I have the router set to broadcast SSID and the FZ21Z sees it OK. With no encryption the FZ21Z will not automatically connect after coming out of standby or being shut down. Using WPA it has managed to connect probably 2 times out of 20 but mostly it fails - the log reporting a timeout error. I have a Sony VAIO VGN-N38Z sat next to it that is fine even when the SSID is not broadcasting.

They have been no help so thought id post here and see if anyone had a similar prob witha different program. Install seems to go fine. Progress bar reaches 100 % but then reverses back down to zero. Have uninstalled the program. Deleted it and cleaned the registry with Regvac. Not all the Sony keys can be removed. Are there some as standard within the registry. Is this the problem? The volume hotkeys work by default with win7. (maybe in hardware) Brightness is available by right-clicking the battery indicator (by clock) or by running "windows mobility center". For my SZ650, I had to install the SFEP and SPIC drivers to clear device manager. I could not find hot key drivers in 64x.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
Well, my Memory RAM doesn`t work like it used to.
Later on, my Memory RAM Score was like 5,9 on RAM and now it is 4,8 after i formatted my computer. I`m sometimes experiencing some slowdowns, like i type a entire word, and after 3 seconds it shows up. Or i scroll down, and after like 4 , 5 seconds the page shows up.
OBS: The Paging file is managed by the System ( I Used to let it on 4 mb )

(now does not work on any pc) when i plugged it in first time a message came up saying error could not read what was inserted etc. My front USB's appear to know something is going in sometimes and then other times don't. it read a webcam being connected. but when i tried an external hard drive i got a similar problem as with my usb flash drive. luckily that still works on my old pc though. back usb ports seem to be doing similar weird behaviour. P.S mouse and keyboard both work fine.

I want to share this Internet connection to an Ad Hoc network through a WLAN interface. In this article it's said that we should not use Internet Connection Sharing in an existing network with Domain Name System (DNS) servers, gateways, DHCP servers, or systems configured for static IP addresses. And this explains why ICS does not work for me although the error returned is not clear. What can I do in my case to share my Internet connection ?
