I'm trying to connect my Acer Aspire x1700 (Vista Home Prem) to my Sony Bravia TV using an HDMI cable. Both the PC and TV have female HDMI jacks and I thought I followed the install steps as per the instructions but no joy!!
I have an "-Acer Aspire 5100-", I've owned it for a two years. I am having some problems with it, three types to be sure:
- RAM - Graphics - Overall Performance
-Problem One- -------------- I have severe lag while playing games, Online or Offline. my fps goes from 70-100 to 1-3. I've Cleaned the insides, and updated the software.
-------------- -Problem Two- -------------- I've installed 4 GB of DDR2 Ram, It shows that I have 2.25Gb (which does Sh*t all)
--------------- -Problem Three- --------------- My overall performance is horrible, I can't do any thing without lag. It took me 2 hours to write this because of lag
I hope no one minds me posting this question here but I am at a loss to solve this issue and hope someone here can help. My customer is locked out of her Acer Aspire 3680. She hasn`t used it for a few months and has forgotten the password. I have searched the net for possible solutions and tried everything I came across that appeared to make sense but other than sending the laptop to Acer for them to unlock it at approx ??100 plus postage and VAT
I have no idea.
I have tried and had no luck with the following:
?I have opened up the back to try and find the CMOS battery
?I have disconnected 4 connectors that look like they could lead to a CMOS battery for more than 30mins?

My acer notebook is about 9 months and has turned really slow. i think it needs to be seriously cleaned up. I have done scans using Macaffee, windows defender, disk defrag, and clean up. But nothing seems to help the speed. Does anyone know what i could do. on other sites said about using the eRecovery but not 100% on using it.. any help to get my laptop back to its original state would be helpful 64X2 dual core processor with 1 gb ram. 32bit os vista
a friend has a new sony vaio with vista home premium installed. For some reason it will not connect to my netgear router wirelessly. I have tried everything. I am however not too hot on Vista as this is my first time with it. The adaptor says its on, but when you interegate it and ask why it wont connect it keeps telling me "switch on wireless adaptor capability". In the network connections it is on, the switch on the front right is swiitched on and the wireless network light on the front is on. The network is fine and working as i have my laptop connected to it. All security is present and entered. It seems to be the computer as it doesnt find any networks when there are loads in the area. Am i missing something exceptionally obvious? Does Vista have another "on" switch for this adaptor?
our office bought an acer aspire m5640 with windows vista...we have encountered many problems because some of the programs use in the office are designed only in xp...i tried to downgrade to xp but an error occured.
I have an Acer Aspire 5610 running vista, which was upgraded from XP. No problems were encountered during installation. I was able to play cd's and dvd's, until a week ago. Since then I insert a disc and nothing happens, I click on Media Player 11 and it prompts me to place a disc in drive E: When I click on "My Computer" the drive is there but a red circle with a diagonal red line through it appears on top. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive etc. Still no joy.

I'm having a difficult time restoring my computer to its factory settings. I already backed up most of my important information on a # of DVD discs. I just can't get Windows Vista (32) to re-install. I tried pressing F-10 when the computer starts and Launch the Vaio Recovery. It went through most of the reset but then the screen just goes blank for a very long time and I'm sure its frozen there. The computer I am trying to reset to factory settings is a Sony Vaio Desktop VGC-LT18E, the model it says on the back of the computer is a PCG-281L. I never made the recovery discs. Is there any other way to get these discs without ordering them through SONY? Online versions? Etc..?
how to disable the Sony Vaio startup assistant. I dont see it anywhere onder Control Panel | Programs but it starts up everytime I boot up and then it locks up and I have to to cancel it withe the task mgr.
Have had difficulty installing Sony Ericson software onto my PC. They have been no help so thought id post here and see if anyone had a similar prob witha different program. Install seems to go fine. Progress bar reaches 100 % but then reverses back down to zero. Have uninstalled the program. Deleted it and cleaned the registry with Regvac. Not all the Sony keys can be removed. Are there some as standard within the registry. Is this the problem? My system is fully updated with windows update
I have a Sony Vaio laptop which came with Windows Vista. Does anyone know how I can proceed to burn a recovery CD or CDs or DVD in such a way that if my hard drive crashes along with the hidden restore partition it contains then I can purchase a new laptop hard drive, insert it and screw it into place, and then reinstall Vista on it using the recovery CDs or DVD I made from my Sony Vaio?
Having purchased a used acer 5315 I have spent days trying to do a fresh install of vista. I have a premium vista disc and the basic serial number is on the acer. Have been through the bios loads of times but each time I end up back at the same place with windows telling me it cannot find the hd and that I need to install drivers. Has anyone had success in doing a clean installation on an acer laptop.
Monster Ultra 800 HDMI Cable Viewsonic 2835M (1920x1200 max resolution) Nvidia 8400M GT 256MB Dedicated / 1GB shared Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-FZ290 Vista Ultimate x64
Nvidia driver (laptopvideo2go.com): 7.15.11.6369
Problem:
When using HDMI connection instead of VGA, the font quality is blurred and distorted. I tried at least 4 different brand new hdmi cables and know for sure it is not the cable NOR the laptop NOR the monitor itself. It is a setting somewhere along the line. I've tried this on 2 laptops, 2 monitors (same brand/model), all same issue.
I set resolution to 1900x1200 and tried 1900x1080 (both 32bit). No normal quality at all. VGA is fine, but I prefer hdmi for higher quality - at least once I get it fixed. I tried 59hz and 60hz,
I have a problem I want to get a hold of my recovery disc from acer and have vista again but the thing is I cant hold of the partion that acer has and I have tried to press alt f10 when it starts but it doesnt work, I have no OS on my computer right now does anyone know how I can get the partion to start?
Got myself the Acer 5920 with the intel dual core processors. Every site says its 64 bit but still they installed the 32 version. For example, 3D Studio Max has 2 versions; 32 and 64 bit. The installer recognizes the 32 bit vista so it WONT install the 64 bit, but it does install the 32 bit version. Loading up the 32 bit version: it doesnt, error. Wrong processor.
So now I want to install the 64 bit vista. I got a dvd with it but whenever I run setup.exe or the autorun, it gives an error saying wrong os or summit (can look the exact error up when I'm home again) The question I already thin I know the awnser on: My pc can run vista 64 bit, right? Anyone else has issue's with 32/64 bit versions of software not running?
Or a solution how to install that 64 bit version? Booting didnt work, it doesnt see it as a bootable disc (I pressed F12, and when the pc boots it first checks the cd for a bootable disc) Im getting a new vista 64 dvd btw since the version I got was from a friend if ye kno wha I mean :P (wanted to test it before buying it, honnestly).....
I have contacted Acer and the computer is out of warranty so they would not help with any tech advice so I am running out of options. My old HDD failed and I bought a Seagate Barracuda to replace it with. Here is the lengthy explanation with as much information (probably too much). So I ordered the Recovery CD's from Acer for my computer and I began the process......
I used to connect my HP Pavilion dv9260nr Notebook to my Sharp Aquos LCD tv through an HDMI cable and got audio and video w/ no problems. About 2 months ago I reinstalled Vista Ultimate x64. I haven't tried to reconnect until recently and now I get video but no audio.
I have tried to set SPDIF Interface to default like I used to but it doesn't work. You can see the green "mixer" bar moving, but I can't hear anything. Also, when it's set to default the configure box is greyed out.
I have the latest Conexant High Definition Audio Driver, 4.33.1.61. I also have Vista Codec pack v511 installed.
Seems like I need to "enable" hdmi somewhere but I can't find anywhere to.
I am researching this for my wifes laptop and I am posting/doing this currently from a work computer that is on a very slow network thus using search is very painful at work (otherwise I might not be asking this question).
Connected pc to lcd via hdmi - no problems. picture - good, no issues as of yet audio going through the tv - sound from all sources except dvd's - digital output/sound is enabled. The DVD sound does play through the laptop speakers while watching the movie. used various DVD playback software all = no sound from tv
I got a Sharp TV, 32" LC32GP3U-B (1080p full). I connected an hdmi cable from my laptop (also 1080p full) to the TV. My laptop screen dropped to Vista Basic theme in 16bit color mode and I can bring it back up to 32bit. Why is that? Inside my Nvidia control panel I was unable to change color depth. I cannot view on the TV display if I use single or clone mode. Everytime I try to set it to single or clone mode, it reverts to laptop display instead. Why?
A strange problem, when configuring Media Center, I chose TV as output. Now the color, contrast, gamma, etc is perfect on the TV itself and Media Center interface. However, when viewing the test videos to adjust the settings, the video is nearly black, dim, yet the interface to Media Center is perfect, so is viewing regular TV mode (w/o hdmi to the laptop) and even when HDMI is plugged in, quality is superb when using programs displayed on the TV. I did choose hdmi as connection type in MC, but why is the video so dim?.........
When it boots up, the Acer splash comes up preceeded by a brief flash like a safe mode setup, can not see what it says it happens very quickly, then the windows logo comes up then the desktop.Do you have to change bios settings , if so how?

I Have Found A Partition Named PQSERVICE On My Acer Aspire M1641. I Think That This Is The Partition That Restores My Computer To Factory Settings. I Have Changed The HDD And The Partition Is On My Old HDD. Is It Still Recommended To Restore My PC So My Other Data Won`t Be Deleted?
I got my Acer Extenza 4620Z Laptop in December and it has Vista installed, and until today, the internet has always worked fine. Earlier today I was turning my computer on and when everything loaded up I connected to my home wireless network (Belkin router) but the computer couldn't connect to any programs that use the internet (AIM, Firefox, IE). My desktop is older and has XP, which is working like normal, all things internet work normally so I know its not the router or the ISP. When I contacted Acer about the situation, the IT told me to perform a system restore to a few days ago (3/9/08), which I did. That worked for a few hours and then it happened again, "Server Not Found" and nothing that uses internet would work. The I tried to System Restore it again to earlier (2/28/08) and it worked again, but also for only a few hours. Now my laptop just automatically installed all the Windows updates from 3/9-3/12 and the internet doesnt work again. How can I fix this problem? I am convinced that it has something to do with the Windows Updates because it only happens when one of the newer updates is installed.
