Speakers Work But Headphones Dosent Work
Mar 23, 2008Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player

DVD Drive Not Recognized -320553art/reg Fix Dosent Work
Mar 23, 2008my dvd drive has also gone missing on my vista home 32, im sure its the same type of problem that most people are suffering, worked fine, installed itunes hooked up ipod, download daemon tools etc, then it stopped being recognized, not sure when exactly it all went wrong, but the drive still opens spins does all that but just wont show up in disk mangement, device manager or my computer. I used the MS ART - 320553 registry fix and deleted the filters, but to no avail, anyone have any other solutions?

Aug 20, 2009Yesterday I unpluged my headphones from the jack located in front of the computer because the wire became tangled, when I plugged them back in, I no longer got sound, so I restarted the computer thinking that was the problem and it still didn't work. I have checked the volume and sound card and they are fine. I can't even hear the test sound.

Dec 14, 2008The problem is that when I'm listening to music or playing a game, the sound works just fine on my speakers. But if I plug in my headphones to the front port, the sound continues to come out of my speakers, and not my headphones. The only way to get the sound to come out of my headphones and not the speakers is to re-launch the application that is producing sound. The same is true vice-versa (going from headphones back to speakers). I have set my default output device to be the headphones and have played around with every setting in the Sound Blaster and Vista Sound control panels I can find - nothing seems to work.
I have read through other forums with similar issues, but they're all either a different issue (i.e. they get sound out of the speakers and the headphones - I only get it out of one, and not the right one), or the threads seem to have dropped off unsolved.
Speakers Do Not Work
Jul 24, 2009I recently switched from XP x64 to Vista x64, and my speakers (nor headset and mic) no longer work correctly on this computer. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling,updating, and changing all the settings multiple times, but I couldn't get them to work correctly.
The only time I can get my speakers (and headset) to make any sound at all is by plugging the speakers into the "Center/Subwoofer Speaker Out" plug. However, they play only as the center(left) and subwoofer(right) then. (This is while the Speaker Configuration is set to "5.1 Speaker", and I only have 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer.)I can't seem to get any sound out of the "Front Speaker Out" (green plug).I'm using 2 left/right speakers that connect into a subwoofer, which uses only 1 plug into the computer.I was able to get both speakers and headset to work at the same time when using XP x64 and Windows7, but nothing works in Vista. (I cannot recall if I was using the "Front Speaker Out" plug when they were working, but I have tried all other plugs in Vista.

Mar 23, 2008I am currently using XP and I can't get my speakers to work. They are plugged in, have power, but the computer can't detect them. I don't have the install discs for either my sound card or speakers. What can I do besides get new speakers or a new sound card?

Mar 27, 2008I like to use speakers for listening to music/radio and I like to use headphones when playing games (TF2, Counterstrike, etc). It would be really nice if I could swap between the two easily, but I can't seem to sort this out. Before I moved to Vista I could get a signal to both my speakers and headphones at the same time. However, when I upgraded to Vista x64 I also upgraded my motherboard (to a GA-P35C-DS3R) and it now provides Realtek HD audio. However it seems my case only supports AC97.
What I would like is either:
1. A physical switch to switch between them (preferred)
2. Both playing audio at the same time
I want to buy some Creative Gigaworks T40s to replace my old speakers. Also my old headphones have recently broken so I need to buy new ones. I am looking at some decent gaming headphones - either Medusa 5.1 ProGamer or maybe Sennheiser PC161. (Any better suggestions?). However, the switching thing is the real problem. Considering I am shelling out for new headphones and speakers I don't want to spent a huge amount beyond this - maybe another £50.
Speakers And Headphones Disabled!
Feb 8, 2010I accidentally disabled my speakers and headphones in Vista Home Premium. I tried to enable them, they aren't even listed in sound devices. I'm on a HP G60 laptop. I went to control panel, clicked on sounds. Then i got a window with 3 tabs but no speakers or headphones anywhere. The volume icon says there's no sound device installed. I'm about to freak out!

Mar 9, 2008I'm running Vista Ultimate and I recently dicarded my dell speakers that came with my xps 400 b/c only the back ones worked and those cables were too long to use efficently (I don't need help on how to arrange my speakers, thats OK). The real problem is that my Sony MDR-E828 headphones won't work with the computer/the computer dosn't recognize them (so essentially I have no sound, other than the beeps that come out of the PC itself). Before I uninstalled the other speakers (after I had disconected them), the headphones only worked for the sound config (wher the CPU makes sound come out of the different speakers to identify them). Now, I can't get to any mixer or any thing else (sound test, ect.) b/c no speakers are installed, and when I plug the headphones in, all I get is static. I went to the Sony Tech support and there are no downloads for the headphones. I'm completely lost and soundless.

Sep 27, 2009I have no sound coming from my speakers. I don't know of any specific trigger. A friend ejected my iPod and walked off with it, but that's the only action I can think of done on the computer for a while. Looking in the IDT Audio panel it says the following:
With no headphones in - it shows that I have a pair plugged in my middle jack.
With headphones on the left (mic) jack - it shows a mic plugged in and nothing else
With headphones in the middle - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)
With headphones on the right - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)........
Switching From Headphones To Internal Speakers
Dec 2, 2008I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11S, and every time i remove my headphones all sound stops working unless i restart the programme, for instance i can be listening to something off itunes, unplug my headphones and the music pauses and won't play again unless i close and reopen it. This also happens with firefox, and i presume other applications, though i have yet to try this. This is a recent development, everything worked fine until a few days ago when i deleted some old programmes i dont use, games and suchlike. I'm pretty much certain i didn't delete anything vital, though i guess its a possibility.

Apr 12, 2010A week back, while vista was installing a few updates on my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-NS130E / Vista Home Premium 32-bit with SP1 running on Intel GL40 Chipset ), I happened to close the laptop by accident. Next time I logged in I saw that the update had failed (obvious.). Soon after I realized that there was no sound from my speakers, but I can still hear very feeble volume through the right channel of my headphones. These are the steps that I have done in an attempt to fix my problem (in the same order as I did it)
1. Rolled my system back to the immediately previous System Restore point (one created when the system was fine and these updates were not installed.) - No luck!
2. Checked, if my speakers were set to default. - They were.
3. Tried recording using Sound Recorder - the file plays fine on other machine, plays on mine but with no sound.
4. Reloaded the driver for the inbuilt sound card. (Realtek High Definition Audio)
5. Installed the latest Chipset Drivers for my motherboard.
6. Checked for the latest audio driver for my laptop model from Sony , installed it. - No luck!
7. Used 'Microsoft Fix It.................
Drivers For IPX To Work On Vista, Didn't Work
Jul 1, 2008I have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Software Doesn't Work, "Windows Hostprocess Doesn't Work"
Apr 21, 2009I have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
RAM Won`t Work Like It Did
Sep 3, 2008Well, my Memory RAM doesn`t work like it used to.
Later on, my Memory RAM Score was like 5,9 on RAM and now it is 4,8 after i formatted my computer. I`m sometimes experiencing some slowdowns, like i type a entire word, and after 3 seconds it shows up. Or i scroll down, and after like 4 , 5 seconds the page shows up.
OBS: The Paging file is managed by the System ( I Used to let it on 4 mb )

Nov 26, 2008i plugged a usb flash drive into my front usb. (now does not work on any pc) when i plugged it in first time a message came up saying error could not read what was inserted etc. My front USB's appear to know something is going in sometimes and then other times don't. it read a webcam being connected. but when i tried an external hard drive i got a similar problem as with my usb flash drive. luckily that still works on my old pc though. back usb ports seem to be doing similar weird behaviour. P.S mouse and keyboard both work fine.

Jul 4, 2009Ever since I burned a movie to a dvd my dvd/cd drive will not allow me to watch a movie or listen to a music cd. When I insert a movie dvd my computer does not recogonize it. I go under my computer to my dvd drive and try to open it and it ejects the disk and says please insert a disk. If I insert a blank dvd +rw it recogonizes it. It is like my computer dvd/cd drive is in a permanent burn mode, not a read mode.

May 19, 2008I recently upgraded to Vista and do now experience that a VPN connection which worked fine under XP now does not work any more. Under XP the authentication has the value 'MS CHAP'. So I suppose that my VPN ist not working under Vista as MS has decided to not include MS CHAP v1 any more. However I need this VPN connection and the provider is not able to change the authentication method. Is there any way to bring vista to use MS CHAP v1? Mar 22, 2009Every time I start thinking Vista is not so bad I make the mistake of trying to connect to another Vista computer. Although all sharing/permissions are properly set and it worked the last time it will not work when needed again without rebooting one or more computers. This is why mine and nearly every business on the face of the Earth has not adapted Vista: it is totally unsuitable for mission critical networks of any size. XP is far from perfect but it is orders of magnitude more stable for networking. Vista SP3 or whatever name Microsoft thinks they can peddle the same schlock under is a deader than dead issue already because it is nothing but Vista with a marginally different GUI and with the economy the way it is who gives a rat's behind about it anyway?
