Can't Speakers To Work

Mar 23, 2008

I am currently using XP and I can't get my speakers to work. They are plugged in, have power, but the computer can't detect them. I don't have the install discs for either my sound card or speakers. What can I do besides get new speakers or a new sound card?

Speakers Do Not Work

Jul 24, 2009

I recently switched from XP x64 to Vista x64, and my speakers (nor headset and mic) no longer work correctly on this computer. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, and changing all the settings multiple times, but I couldn't get them to work correctly.
The only time I can get my speakers (and headset) to make any sound at all is by plugging the speakers into the "Center/Subwoofer Speaker Out" plug. However, they play only as the center(left) and subwoofer(right) then. (This is while the Speaker Configuration is set to "5.1 Speaker", and I only have 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer.)I can't seem to get any sound out of the "Front Speaker Out" (green plug).I'm using 2 left/right speakers that connect into a subwoofer, which uses only 1 plug into the computer.I was able to get both speakers and headset to work at the same time when using XP x64 and Windows7, but nothing works in Vista. (I cannot recall if I was using the "Front Speaker Out" plug when they were working, but I have tried all other plugs in Vista.

Un-installed Its Own Speakers?

Dec 26, 2008

Im not sure if I should put this under update probelms or what, but Im highly confused. I downloaded the Malicious Software Removal Tool, thru Windows Update. (Not a pop up online) After it was done with the update, it restarted my computer, and when it was done, I discovered that it had UN INTSALLED the speakers. The new software hadnt even run yet, so I doubt it had anything to do with that. When I click on the volume icon on my task bar, it says that there is "No Audio Output Device Installed"

Speakers Not Being Recoginzed

Nov 22, 2009

so I've been trying to trouble shoot this for awhile...I've uninstalled and installed drivers, rolled back drivers....For some reason I am not getting any sound from the rear jacks (green to monitor) or from the headphone jack. System is a HPa6303w running vista home, using realtek HD Audio. My 'digital output' is set as my default playback, but when I used an RCA cord to 3.5m plug I still have no sound. I can't configure the speakers cause the system is not seeing them...is there any way to 'activate' the analog playback?

7.1 Speakers Not Working

Aug 18, 2008

I just bought my new Creative T7900 speakers which is 7.1. I have DP35DP Media series board with a built-in 7.1 sound card that has a driver from SigmaTel (default). The problem is I can't use my 7.1 speakers. The only speakers working are the two front speakers and the subwoofer when I play Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Classic Player, but when I ran a test on the config settings of SigmaTel, this time 5.1 speakers worked (excluding the side pair speakers). That I discovered, the audio cable that was included in the T7900 package is for 5.1 speakers only. One end of the cable has 3 pins and the other end has 4 pins which is standard for 7.1 speakers (Black for rear speakers; Lime-green for front speakers; Grey for side speakers; Orange for center speaker/subwoofer). But when I checked the quick installation manual, the cable included with the package is correct (3-pins : 4-pins). I only want simple thing to happen. I want my T7900 work on my PC that has built-in 7.1 sound card.

Cannot Get Sound Through Speakers

Aug 7, 2009

I do a re-install of vista OS. It's been like this everytime I do a format and re-install Vista. I managed to get sound through the speakers again by doing many removal of the different drivers/codecs but now I just cannot get it to sound through the speakers. I get sound all the time through the headphones jack but it is a hazzle to get them through the speakers. Why is this?

Right Speakers For XPS 435MT

Jun 18, 2009

I have a Dell XPS 435MT and am trying to find some speakers for it. I haven't had any luck on Dell's website other than some cheap $20 jobbies. I don't need 4-7 speakers with sub woofer, etc as I have all that with my older XP system but, I'd like to find some decent ones for the newer system with Vista Home Premium. Can someone steer me in the right direction for speakers for this system? They don't necessarily have to be Dell.

No Mic Through Stereo Mix Or Speakers!

Jun 12, 2008

In previous OS I've pluged in my mic and go 'test test' and I would hear myself, in real time, through the speakers. Vista does not do this apparetnly To make matters worse, the mic will not feed through the stereo mix (because it wont come through the speakers?). I definetly have all this enabled, all hidden things revealed. I've rolled back teh drivers for the sound card, updated them, updated them again, shut down, restarted, tried a million different settings and STILL no mic for stereo mix or speakers. I can see the green bars going when I speak, and it works in programs like skype.

But this stereo mix is a big problem. I similcast an internet radio and TV show. In order to broadcast the audio from the music videos I play on the TV show over the Shoutcast radio server, I need stereo mix. However, I also need full use of my mic because a tv and radio show without a mic is pretty boring. Has ANYONE found a solution to this problem or should I just downgrade to XP, which runs my audio settings without hassle. I have Vista home premium 32bit on a toshiba laptop with a realtek high def audio soundcard. I am trying to use front jack mic but there is also a built in mic.

5.1 Sound Not Playing Out Of All Speakers

Sep 20, 2009

I have Logitech X-530 speakers, a 5.1 setup. Yesterday I wanted to use my headset to play a game, so I had to change my settings to stereo to get the sound out of both the left and right headphones. When I had finished, I changed it back to 5.1 through the control panel, but now the sound is only playing out of the left and right speakers. All speakers are functional, since when I test it through the control panel the 'bing' sound plays through all one-by-one. The speakers worked fully in 5.1 before I changed the settings. Windows Vista 32bit SP2.

I have my speakers hooked up to a Turtle Beach Montego DDL. I couldnt find any X64 bit drivers for this card, so i figured there had to be other drivers that had the same chipset......I was right. So i have different drivers for the card.

Swapping Headphones And Speakers?

Mar 27, 2008

I like to use speakers for listening to music/radio and I like to use headphones when playing games (TF2, Counterstrike, etc). It would be really nice if I could swap between the two easily, but I can't seem to sort this out. Before I moved to Vista I could get a signal to both my speakers and headphones at the same time. However, when I upgraded to Vista x64 I also upgraded my motherboard (to a GA-P35C-DS3R) and it now provides Realtek HD audio. However it seems my case only supports AC97.

What I would like is either:

1. A physical switch to switch between them (preferred)
2. Both playing audio at the same time

I want to buy some Creative Gigaworks T40s to replace my old speakers. Also my old headphones have recently broken so I need to buy new ones. I am looking at some decent gaming headphones - either Medusa 5.1 ProGamer or maybe Sennheiser PC161. (Any better suggestions?). However, the switching thing is the real problem. Considering I am shelling out for new headphones and speakers I don't want to spent a huge amount beyond this - maybe another £50.

Speakers Stopped Working

Sep 3, 2008

The other day my speakers (Logitech X-540) stopped working all together. They pop when I shut down and reboot, but in the speaker properties they are listed as unplugged. The Realtek HD control panel gives me an error saying that I'm using Vista drivers and to download the proper ones. I've downloaded the current drivers from Realtek (r2.02) and from Gigabyte and neither work. Is my next step getting a new soundcard for further troubleshooting or is there something I'm overlooking? And yes, I have checked to see that the speakers are actually connected to the PC

No Sound In Side Speakers

Dec 27, 2007

My mother board is an abit IP35 Pro. And for speakers I have Creative Inspire P7800. Coming out of the sub are all the outputs for center, sub, left & right (front, side and rear). The output cords that came with the speakers don't fully match the input for the onboard sound card. I really don't want to spend $70+ on a sound card. Seems the onboad sound is rather descent. Sound I spend the $20-30 to get the cords that are missing. Seems that cords supplied with the speakers have 4 leads coming out of the sub and then they combine something into 3 leads going into the sound card. Now when I go to mess around with the sound within windows I can't get anything to be produced out of the side speakers.

Audio Through Headphones Without Speakers

Mar 9, 2008

I'm running Vista Ultimate and I recently dicarded my dell speakers that came with my xps 400 b/c only the back ones worked and those cables were too long to use efficently (I don't need help on how to arrange my speakers, thats OK). The real problem is that my Sony MDR-E828 headphones won't work with the computer/the computer dosn't recognize them (so essentially I have no sound, other than the beeps that come out of the PC itself). Before I uninstalled the other speakers (after I had disconected them), the headphones only worked for the sound config (wher the CPU makes sound come out of the different speakers to identify them). Now, I can't get to any mixer or any thing else (sound test, ect.) b/c no speakers are installed, and when I plug the headphones in, all I get is static. I went to the Sony Tech support and there are no downloads for the headphones. I'm completely lost and soundless.

System Very Low Disconnected The Speakers

some stage over the last week the sound of my PC has been set very low and I cannot find a way to increase it again. I have disconnected the speakers and connected tem to my Ipod and they work a treat. Volume in System tray is on full, so is it in the "Spealers/ Headphone Properties". The vertical bar on the right shows that the System recognises the volume, i.e. the equaliser keps jumping! I can hear something when I turn up the volume on my speakers but the music is only slightly louder than the white noise! The problem occurs with mp3s, films, CDs and DVDs. Does anybody knwo what the problem could be and how to solve it?

No Sound In Speakers (headphones Are Plugged In)

Sep 27, 2009

I have no sound coming from my speakers. I don't know of any specific trigger. A friend ejected my iPod and walked off with it, but that's the only action I can think of done on the computer for a while. Looking in the IDT Audio panel it says the following:

With no headphones in - it shows that I have a pair plugged in my middle jack.
With headphones on the left (mic) jack - it shows a mic plugged in and nothing else
With headphones in the middle - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)
With headphones on the right - it shows both headphone jacks as filled (the one on the right shows up as filled too)........

Playing The Digital Input Through The Speakers...

Jun 26, 2009

So yea, a friend of mine got me an Xbox 360 for my birthday, however I have no speakers and my monitor does not play audio (so any audio through HDMI is not an option). So, as a result, I bought a optical audio cable for the Digital Input (S/PDIF input), and then played it back through the speakers... however this was on Windows 7 RC1, since formatting back to Vista Ultimate 64bit (Was testing it to see if it fixed some problems), I do not have an option to play the Digital Input through the Speakers anymore (There used to be a volume control for it on the Speakers properties inside of the Vista sound settings, but it's gone now).

I am using this motherboard: ( Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia ) with the drivers provided by them (It's onboard and uses the Realtek HD audio drivers, thats all I remember since I built it). Anyway, so far the only way I have been able to hear the Digital Input is to play the device through VLC using "Open Capture Device", which has a lag delay (Which is enough to throw sounds off by almost a second or so, which is fairly annoying in a multiplayer game).............

Switching From Headphones To Internal Speakers

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11S, and every time i remove my headphones all sound stops working unless i restart the programme, for instance i can be listening to something off itunes, unplug my headphones and the music pauses and won't play again unless i close and reopen it. This also happens with firefox, and i presume other applications, though i have yet to try this. This is a recent development, everything worked fine until a few days ago when i deleted some old programmes i dont use, games and suchlike. I'm pretty much certain i didn't delete anything vital, though i guess its a possibility.
