I am trying to watch .mov and mp4 video files in wmp and just can't get it to work. I've tried loads of codecs and none of them are working (k-lite codecs pack, x-vid, div-x, 3ivx, ffdshow). I really want them to work in wmp instead of installing another player.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just brought a Media PC with a en9800GTX video card which has 2 DVI ports, I was told by the supplier that it is meant to be really good and do everything, I was also told when i got the machine that I really needed a HD TV with an HDMI port on the back so I had to go and get a panasonic TH-42PZ80B again being assured that this was what I needed. further to that I had to get a HDMI cable that would connect to the ports of the video card (via a hdmi to DVI converter) again being assured that this was everything I needed. Picture quality is great but there is no sound!
I can plug speakers into the back of the pc (green port with a standard cable) but there is nothing coming out of the TV, I have been told to right click on the sound icon in vista a change the audio to the TV but it is not listed! the media PC was brought on the basis of being speced to the hilt but there seems to be so much conflicting information and nothing works! 4k down and seems that I have brought a donkey!
is there a way to input s-video in media center? like from a x-box? or do you have to have a cable box?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got the game a few mouths ago and tried the downstairs computer at my dads and it plays really BAD... I tried my dads computer and it play slow but good in till I wanted to save and play online. I made a user and went back to the game to sign in and I had to install a update. I installed it and GUESS WHAT? IT BROKE THE GAME!!! I had to reinstall it and tried again but the game broke again... I played and played till I tried again and it again broke so I had to reinstall, but found out the the DISC 2 WAS A MESSED UP MESS. And one thing I don't know is how it got like that. It was sitting on the table and got barely moved. If I had the right computer. this wouldn't happened. Later on... My dad,my sister, and me went shopping to get a me a game and maybe to get something. I was in the game ale. As it turns out there was not a lot of good games. I spotted the GTA 4 game and I got a idea. I forgot to add I was at Wall-Mart and I was on a boating trip. I went to the computers and found the one that we have in the barn [We didn't had one in the barn yet at start] and look at the the computers specs and asked a few things. I got all of the specs except the video card. It doesn't work with the one in the barn.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium 64-bit and Windows 7 installed and use the standard Microsoft boot manager from Windows 7 to dual boot. Each operating system is in the first primary partition of a hard drive. No problems. However, I think I need reinstall WinXP so that I can view some old AVI files that use the Intel IV50 codec. For some reason Vista does not like the AVI files and best I can tell the codec add-in only works under WinXP Media Player. What is the best way/program that will allow me to boot either Vista, Windows 7 or Windows XP OR is there a magic bullet to view and convert the old AVI files. I have tried Format Factory and come up empty. No matter what I try the audio works but the video is not available.

When I want to open video file (.avi) automatically is opening in WinAmp which I just used before for audio files. I tried to use option "Open with.." but when I chose the program I want to use to open this file, icon of this application didn't show up in the window of recommended programs (windows where there are icons of programs which you can use to open particular kind of file) When open the program (Zoom Player), and I try to open video file, everything was working., but still I don't understand why I cannot set up this option for ever. Not every time to go to Zoom Player and from this program look for .avi's files to open.

View 4 Replies View Relatedso this is probably hugely naïve, but I would like to make legitimate, playable versions of music and other videos that I have downloaded as Flash Video Files [.flv] to Real Player, and copy these to a CD/DVD. I do have NTI CD&DVD-Maker 7x. Platinum Edition, and have tried to do this, but it does not recognise the .flv format. Is there a simple way of copying the video clip and changing the file extension of the copy so that it will be recognised by NTI CD&DVD-Maker? I stress, that I want a legitimate way to do this. If it can't be done, then so be it, and I'll forget all about trying to do it.

I have tried making a DATA DVD with the video_ts file, but that won't play on a regular DVD player. How do I make a VIDEO DVD using the full VIDEO_TS file instead of just a DATA dvd?

Yesterday i got a PCI slot cooler for my video card and i over clocked it some. About 100-125 more on each stat. This is my grapics card i had it running at like 40C MSI USA – Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more. Also i added a new heat sink but every time i try to boot my Windows XP professional the green thing gets to the middle of the bar and restarts my computer. Last i took out my video card and went to the on board video and tried that and yet it did not work ether. I tried reformatting thinking it was drivers or something didn't work ether. every time i try installing the OS i get General causes of "STOP 0x0000007F" errors Divide by zero error A divide by zero is caused when a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is 0. Memory corruption (or other hardware problems) or software failures can cause this. anyone on here who knows XP well let me know im running a diagnostic test right now to find the problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had the common problem on not being able to install KB938371 update which is one of the 3 prerequisites to downloading through Microsoft Update the SP1. I have tried all the tricks and suggestion published throughout the web except an in place reinstall of Vista Business. This is highly undesireable since my sony laptop will only reinstall Vista Business as per original with all the software originally shipped which is a pain to remove.
If I download the entire sp1 750mb file, will it install without the prerequsite files? I have read that the prerequisites were actually a compilation of sp1 files and not an actual update to Vista. This being the case, it seems that if the sp1 file were downloaded it would work.
I likely to encounter when I get a new machine with Vista on it. Transfering files: what is some of the easy ways. Software: probably more difficult; I have install disks for some, but not sure if they will work on Vista, and I cannot afford to buy them again.

In one of their few areas of consistency, both said I needed to install WET on the old XP computer, which I did by downloading form the MS website. On my first attempt, my new computer said the files created on my portable hard disk by my old computer running WET could not be read. They had be copied as read only and could not be read evenafter I changed that attribute. On my second attempt, WET on my new computer told me that the DAT files created by the old one were created by an earlier WET version and could not be transferred. But I installed WET AFTER I bought the new computer from the allegedly up-to-date MS website.

I also cannot type anything in the email created when replying to these messages. I should note that he has Vista at work also on some of their computers including the one he uses and he has none of these issues. Is there a setting I need to change? I've searched the internet along with this site for a solution and haven't seen this particular problem. If need be I can send the email property details to show you. When I got to properties of the email and show the details, it shows the message included in 'part 1' of the message.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get rid of one of those pernicious programs that I inadvertantly downloaded when I attempted to download a file that purported to be an explanation of the COMDLG32.OCX. Its one of those PC scan programs, I did a search on it and deleted every file that I could find, but since Vista doesn't have a feature to remove programs I guess that I'll have to find another way.

I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

I have a system that has FAT16 file system on it. I have that file system on that for some reason so I don’t need to upgrade on that….but recently I had some files deleted and now I need to get them back. They are important for my official use and hold great importance. I know that there is software for recovery but since I have a FAT16 file system I guess that all won’t work on that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen i turn on my computer, an error message comes saying "Windows failed to load because a file is missing or corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221" This started when i was clearing my computer of useless programs, and after i deleted Realtime player or Quicktime player, (can't remember which) an error message jumped from the taskbar saying something about Network device driver. After that every time i start the computer, the "Windows failed to load" message pops up. The first half a year, it was solved by pressing enter, to "Choose an operating system to start: Windows Vista" and then to "Windows error recovery (start windows normally, safe mode etc)" and back to "Windows failed to start", repeating it 3-20 times. Then i had a familiar "Unexpected shutdown" during a game, and now, the "Enter spamming technique" doesn't work anymore. All i can access at the moment is Windows memory diagnostic tool, and Bios setup utility. Is there any way to fix this through the setup utility or some other manner?

For example, if I want to search my C drive for all PDF files or all photos, the search function won't work without entering text from a file name (which doesn't work, because all files of a particular type don't necessarily share letters or characteristics in their names). Has anyone else experienced this problem, or am I missing something?
