who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I have recently set up my vista media center pc and I have set up 2 xbox360's as media extenders. What I would like to do is make home movies (no editing) and drag and drop thes video files to Vista pc and then be able to watch the video on my media extenders. I am going to buy a new video camera, a hd model with a hard drive. My question is can I do this without converting the video to another format? Does anyone make a camcorder that records in a format that is supported by media center or does anyone make a plugin for media center that will allow AVCHD playback? I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

This is my doubt,
I have 8GB RAM installed (max for my MoBo) and 2 Video Card 512MB.
So this will mean that my Vista Home Premium x64 have to deal with 9GB
RAM.
How can I be sure that it takes full advantage of all RAM?
In My Computer > property shows 8196MB RAM, my doubt is if really when
I am in Crossfire mode, my PC is able to use the 1024MB Video Ram to get
the best performance in 3D Game.
If somebody can give me a way to check and even better to allow Vista
to use all 9024MB it will be great.

The card i want to get is the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Video Card.
My current card is the NVIDIA GeForce 8200.

i have a gateway md 7818u and i seem to be experiencing a video lag in games. it is almost like i can play almost no games even games that are old and i shoud easily be able to play like half life 2 lag badly like every 3 seconds or so. i also am having this issue on streaming video untill it is loaded but when it is loaded it runs extremely well. even on Internet when the pink bar is far ahead of where i am

I just upgraded to Media Player 11. I have XP. I downloaded some AVI files and they play, but sound only. Perfect sound, just no picture. They automatically open in WMP just as they should, and I tried right-clicking menus to switch views, but the view is at 100% full screen mode. I get sound, and I get visualizations (like bars and waves, alchemy, etc) instead of the actual movie. I have looked around the forums but don't seem to see anyone having this particular problem. The files are from a P2P site, but I don't think that's the problem as the sound works fine. And mpeg files from the site play fine.

All had been working well until a few days ago. For some reason, now when I double-click a video file, I can hear the audio but I get no video. I must open WMP manually, and then I get the video of what I'm hearing. I used to double-click a video and it automatically opened WMP.
Then, to close WMP, I must stop the video first. Because if I don't, the audio will continue even though the video will not be seen. I then have to re-open the player, stop the video, then close WMP. I used to close the program (X on the WMP) and it would all (video and audio) close,
