Jul 29, 2008A while back i had the COM Surrogate problem when trying to view my content in the VIDEO folder, and now it doesn't seem to work and crashs everytime i view the folder.

Software Doesn't Work, "Windows Hostprocess Doesn't Work"
Apr 21, 2009I have had Windows Vista 64 for 2 Months now and of that period of time it worked soundly for about 2 Weeks. I am NOT an irresponsible User, I don't just delete Data, I know a little something about computing, I don't visit or download from dubious sites etc.
1) Without any reason software suddently doesn't work.
a) I installed a Antivirussoftware - after 3 Weeks it suddently didn't work any more (Kaspersky) I couldn't reinstall it.
b) I installed a new Antivirussoftware - after 5 days it didn't work anymore.
c) 4 days later I started to get errormessages "Windows Defender doesn't work any more" - "Windows Hostprocess doesn't work anymore"
Video Thumbnails Doesn't Works

at any folder that contain videos not all videos appears in thumbnails
Like this screen shot u can see that there is some video appears and some other not
how can i solve this ?
in windows XP there was Refresh Thumbnails option but i can't find any similar one at Vista
at 32-bit version every thing works ok but at 64-bit version i have a few problems.
Video Capture Device Doesn't Have 64 Bit Drivers
Feb 19, 2008I have been wanting to buy a video capture device to put my VHSs on my computer and have decided the time is now. I have looked at the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum and am happy with the reviews but it doesn't have 64 bit drivers. So would do you guys recommend to me? If I have to I can buy the dazzle and just use it with my old xp machine but I would like one that I can use with my vistax64. I guess a tv tuner would also work but what software would I use to record and seperate one video stream in to two files?

Mar 23, 2008I just bought a Hp 8300 with the Windows media center running Vista. If I try and watch the TV, it will pause and need to restart the computer to use the computer. It just locks up. Hp Tech support had me install new drivers, then they had me do the reinstall to original settings.. It worked until I tried to record, then it locked up again and the TV doesn't work again. It will lock up after watching the TV about 15 seconds. I returned the computer and got another one, it does the same thing, Tech support told me I had a bad tuner (on 2 computers?) they sent me a new tuner, that didn't work. Then they said I needed to reinstall the factory settings from the disk, they sent that to me and that did not fix the problem. The computer did not come with a new monitor and I am using a Sony flatscreen, its about 4 years old. Is that my problem? I'm going to take the computer to the store and let them see if they can make it work with a new monitor.

Jul 29, 2008I have just brought a Media PC with a en9800GTX video card which has 2 DVI ports, I was told by the supplier that it is meant to be really good and do everything, I was also told when i got the machine that I really needed a HD TV with an HDMI port on the back so I had to go and get a panasonic TH-42PZ80B again being assured that this was what I needed. further to that I had to get a HDMI cable that would connect to the ports of the video card (via a hdmi to DVI converter) again being assured that this was everything I needed. Picture quality is great but there is no sound!
I can plug speakers into the back of the pc (green port with a standard cable) but there is nothing coming out of the TV, I have been told to right click on the sound icon in vista a change the audio to the TV but it is not listed! the media PC was brought on the basis of being speced to the hilt but there seems to be so much conflicting information and nothing works! 4k down and seems that I have brought a donkey!

Search Doesn't Seem To Work
May 3, 2008Vista search doesn't seem to work at all on my computer. Indexing Options (from the Control Panel) says that 34,894 items are indexed and Indexing Options lists Microsoft Office Outlook, Offline Files, and Start Menu and Users in the Included Locations and the Exclude column shows "Default" Opposite Users in the Included locations. If I go to Advanced in Indexing Options and check various common file types like .doc and .xls they are marked (the box is checked) for index file names and contents. if I go to a folder that has a bunch of .xls file and type in the search box the start of a file name that I can plainly see in the list of files in that folder, the full list of files in that folder collapses to a list of one extraneous file that isn't at all what I'm looking for. I have just re-built
the index and still have the sam problem. Needless to say search for file content doesn't work either - since I can't even search for file names.
if I click on Start > Control Panel -- click on Programs -- under Programs and features -- click on. Turn Windows features on or off" -- the box next to ???Indexing Service??? is unchecked. That doesn't make sense to me because the Indexing Options has indexed things.
Autoplay Doesn't Work

As soon as I start it, it now KILLS my inet connection and I need to reboot each time to have it working again. I've used XXCOPY and Robocopy to successfully back up entire volumes to an eSATA connected drive, but when I try to do the same to a newly acquired NAS drive, it doesn't work right. Instead of copying "only" the files that are new (or changed since the last backup), Robocopy copies every file over again. And XXCOPY (free version) won't copy at all to the NAS drive. I downloaded the 60day trial of XXCOPY home, and it does work right, (except it recopies lots of zipped files) but XXCOPY home costs $40. Here's a typical command (from a batch file) for each: Robocopy E: \DLINKVolume_1E-BACKUP /MIR /R:1 /W:1 and xxcopy e: \dlinkvolume_1e-backup /clone/ff I also found RichCopy, which I tried, and find it also copies files that are already in place on the NAS drive. The F&S software will not allow me to configure a FAX Account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my modem (Zoom 3025C, Conexant chip set). Vista has the modem configured on COM3, and the modem is visible from CONTROL PANEL>PHONE AND MODEM as well as the device manager.F&S has no accounts configured. When I attempt to add an account, it reports "No modems configured". I uninstalled the modem driver and the modem software. I tried the same steps using another Agere 56k fax modem, but obtained the same results. Can anyone recommend a troubleshooting process, for either fixing this, or for resetting the F&S modem database? Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall F&S?

It works, but I don't really like it and it messes up my "customize-window" (sorry, I don't know the correct word (I'm German)). Anyway, after deleting Dreamscene.dll.mui and moving Dreamscene.dll to the desktop, the "customize-window" is normal again, but I can't delete Dreamscene.dll with "take ownership". I've even disabled UAC, but it still doesn't work.
