There are numerous queries for this problem on the site but no answers. When viewing a streamed movie on the net the images are good in the small screen mode: however, when changed to full screen mode, there is only a black screen with sound. "Esc" returns the stream to the movie in small screen mode. Does anyone have a fix?
View 4 RepliesError on startup. After a period of time. Having scoured several topics in relation to this issue, I am still none the wiser and like many pledging for some guidance, I thought it best to post here. Some quick Background Info;
I made this computer using my old Powersupply ( Jeantech 500W) and Harddrive. I had previously used the graphics card in my old setup and had no issues. This was XP, different motherboard, processor etc. I formatted the Harddrive and installed Windows 64bit and installed all the new parts. Drivers are all up to date except the motherboard. (Of which the CD couldn't be detected)
When I turn on my computer, at the login screen I receive small blocks of colour that do not match the screens intended picture. On the log in screen this is normally minimal, but on my main desktop this will nearly cover the screen intermitantly. Sounds bad? But it will either fix itself in time with the "Windows has recovered the driver Atiamtag" Or, I pop open the Chess program and on load up this clears the issue..........
Why do I get black picture after I have pressed PrtSc button? Of course it shouldn't be black and it happens only when the screen is on full screen mode (for an example videos, games etc.). It also doesn't matters if I am using just PrtSc or Alt + PrtSc - the result is the same. It looks like this ---> http://img525.imageshack.us/i/blackba.jpg/ (and, no, I didn't painted it black).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed an imaging software program that was supposed to support 64-bit, but shortly thereafter I got the black SoD. I quickly uninstalled, then went into the device manager and removed the driver for it. The computer ran fine for a day or so, even including a restart or two. Then this morning I was watching an online movie and it went to the blue screen of death, the only thing I caught of the code was 0000000001e, then it shut down. Vista 64-bit home premium was pre-installed, so I put in the reinstall version of Vista, but can't boot to it. The computer turns on to the black screen of death, but no cursor. The computer is running, and the cd even spins when I hold escape, but it will not boot into windows. I have tried F-8, along with every other F as well (and some of my own too!), but nothing is working.
It did boot to my windows normally one time in the middle of all of my attempts, and instead of doing a system restore (which looks like a much better choice in retrospect), I was just going to restore my entire system from an image (Acronis) using their boot disc, but unfortunately it said I needed to restart my system in order for the image to be put in place of my current image, which I clicked 'ok'....then about 1/1000 of a second later realized that wasn't the smartest thing I'd ever done, because it probably won't boot back up again.

The bottom of the screen normally contains the"go"or"do it" button when "publishing" a movie. On my Samsung wide screen monitor that button is BELOW the bottom of my screen. I've tried different screen resolutions. how to make the screen smaller height wise? I have tried to adjust the vertical position of my monitor, but that adjustment only moves the screen a small amount. I am at the max resolution of 1068 x 1050. Other resolution choices seem to drive the bottom of the screen even further down.

apart from WMM and Windows DVD Maker (But windows DVD maker is a diff issue anyway that I wont address here).
I've tried all sorts of things. I unticked "AVI DVD Compressor" because when I left it ticked, whenever I tried moving .AVI vids to the timeline it would just say "Windows Movie Maker Has Stopped Working" and close
the whole thing. But unticking it got me atleast somewhere, but now I face yet another problem.....
my toshiba equium laptop wont go into sleep mode anymore even though ive set it up to do so in power options the screen just goes black but everything is still turned on. and i was wondering if there was a way to fix it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just started using sleep mode the past month and recently it hasen't been working correctly, i'm using Vista x64 Ultimate. Most of the time it works fine, but occasionally the computer won't go to sleep and will just sit there doing nothing, the screen is black and nothing happens. The only way to get back into windows is to restart.
I've read everything in the tutorial section and it hasn't helped. I have a Asus maximus formula motherboard (1302 BIOS) and a Nvidia EVGA GTX 285 with 185.85 drivers. I also have a Razer Tarantula keyboard (latest firmware) with a sleep button, which i've been using to put my computer to sleep.
I'm having an issue in which sometimes, I can't get my HP Vista laptop out of sleepmode. It used to only happen once in a blue moon, but now it happens so often that I just don't use sleep mode. I close the lid to get it in sleep mode. When I open the lid, everything lights up as if it's trying to get out of sleep mode, but then it just stops and I have a black screen.
It's gotten to the point where I have to shut down the computer whenever I am not using it. However, it happens about 3 times a week that when I start up the computer, it comes to a black screen in which I see a short blinking white line at the top left corner of my screen. It just keeps blinking for a while (sometimes it lasts for about 30 seconds, sometimes it can last for close to 4 minutes).
My friend at work forgot his password and cannot log onto his computer. He is running Windows vista home premium on a Compaq laptop. We tried to go into the safe mode but the only screen we get is his password sign on screen. Even during boot we pressed f8 key but the password screen came up. He is hoping someone has an idea or answer so he can avoid taking it into get looked at and paying money.

All the clips used in the movie are .avi, it is 41 clips in total and the movie length is 2 min 33 sec. When I try to publish the publishing process starts but then cancels and gives me this message: "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify, that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again." Checked all that and that is not the problem! could not find any solutions in the other threads for WMM.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got this major bluescreen issue. Two days ago, I just restarted my pc for no particular reason, and when it was about to start it gives me this bluescreen. It starts up, I get the loading bar, but then bluescreen. I tried to chose any of the safe modes, but none of them work, just gives me the bluescreen again. To sum all this, I can?t start my computer due to a bluescreen issue, not even with safemodes. It gives me alot of text, but the screen dissappears after a few seconds so I can?t even read two lines. I'm running a HP Pavilion m8055.sc with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

boot priority order:

there is no change values for all of these which supposed to be is to set them who is 1st,2nd,3rd. *-means this drive is available when external device boot is enable.
I have done a clean install of Vista Ultimate (64), and since then, everytime I start my computer, it fails to boot correctly. It passes the BIOS page, starts the animated bar at the bottom of the page, and a few seconds later, the screen goes blank, and my VDU gives the messgae, "NO SIGNAL" After about a minute, the system reboots to the BIOS page again and continues up to the animated screen, and stops again. After it self boots for a second time, I get the SAFE MODE option screen. If I leave it on START WINDOWS NORMALLY, and leave it to complete the 30s count down, It boots again, and then completes the boot into Vista. If at the count down screen, I press enter, it goes into a boot loop that doesn't stop until I press the reset button on my box.? I have done a re-install twice and problem continues.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I wake my computer from sleep mode I do it by clicking the mouse. Lately, when I try and wake it, it makes all the sounds of waking but I get a dark gray screen. I can see just a tiny strip on top which shows that the page is up and running but it's covered over by a gray screen.

I have created a movie with Movie Maker, and when i try to publish the movie with the default settings, its giving an error message: "Movie Maker can not publish the movie. The source files may not be available, or the disk space is not enouth...". I have my source files in the same path, 50GB of free disk space is there. But its not publishing the movie. But, if i select the third option the select bit rate window ie.AVI-DV in the dropdown list, the publishing is successfull. But the .AVI file created is huge in size. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with movie maker, and why it is not able to publish the movie with default settings.

When I put a windows cd for repair (windows XP Home) and boot from cd.. its goes on the window where I need to select 1.c:windows but when i select that.. it goes on blue screen again.. 1. When opening a message from the message list, the new window opens in "non full screen" mode. I have to then click on the maximize button. How do I default to full screen for new windows in general?
2. When I open a message and then hit the delete button, it takes me automatically to the next message, I want it to go back to the message list. I know in outlook where you can set these settings but can't find it with Windows mail.

i wanted to shutdown my pc, so i press the red shutdown button in the start menu First odd thing happened: The computer went in some kind of "sleep mode" The screen was black, and my screen went in stand-by mode. The computer did not shut down. Whatever i did, the computer didnt go out of the sleep mode, smashed my keyboard, clicked my mouse, nothing happened. I was in a hurry so i had to shutdown my computer using the power button in my case. I cut off the power, and went away. The next morning, i plug the power back in and i try to start my computer again. The computer started the same way before i shut him down the day before: Fans are running, i dont hear my hard drive running, black screen, screen goes in stand-by mode after a few seconds. No boot menu, nothing immediately a black screeb Very odd, smashed keyboard again and again, pressed every button i could, but nothing happened. Even the leds on my keyboard werent lighted when the pc startsup, mouse does flicker.
Then i had the idea to maybe try and cut power again, and try again after that. So i did as i was thinking, cut the power, reconnected to electricity net, and start up again. This is when another odd thing happens: Everytime i cut power and try restart after reconnecting to power net, the pc goes to black screen fans running, shuts himself down again, and then immediately restarts 1 time. This happens EVERYTIME i cut power. After that he just stays in black screen, nothing happens. Does anyone know what is going on here? Yesterday he worked perfectly, but today he wont even start the bootup screen.

View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing my ISP (Roadrunner Carolinas) speed test site; I get around 200 to 400 kbps download speeds using IE in normal mode. If I boot to Safe Mode, I get around 3500 to 4500 kbps, which is what it should be (this is what I used to get in normal mode before I re-installed Vista). Running the same speed test with Firefox, I get around 1500 to 2000 kbps in normal mode, but if I try to download a file it ransfers at only the 200 to 400 kbsp rate (if I'm lucky). Here's more detail about the system and what I've done so far:
Installed all updates including SP2.
Using Windows Firewall, no anti-virus.
Updated network drivers directly from NVidia (Chipset is nForce750i)
Updated graphics card drivers directly from NVidia
Disabled all LAN protocols except for Client for Microsoft Networks and IPv4
Connected via ethernet cable directly to cable modem, no router.
I've deliberately refrained from loading anything but the basics until I can get this sorted out..........
I've been trying for a while now, to connect 3 of my computers in a small home network. As far I understand all I have to do is have a wireless router. and then put all 3 computers under the same workgroup, then they should be able to see each other. I do have a trend micro firewall, which I put under the profile small home network.
