Running Vista Home Prem32Bit....will Upgrade to Windows7 32BIT. Ran Microsoft's Windows 7 Advisor....the Report shows under the PROGRAM section, Cisco PEAP MODULE 1.0.13 is not compatible. It shows update is available and when you click on it you go to a Cisco Site....but I couldn't find the download, for that matter, any downloads. I have tried to get help from CISCO, it is impossible. All I wanted was the link to download the Update and all they wanted was a contract number. I don't even know what this program does...it may be the wireless Password Security? It should not be this difficult, I need to update PEAP and I have spent many hours at the Cisco site and Internet searches and have been unable to find the download that will update Cisco PEAP Module to a version that is Compatible with Windows 7. Hopefully someone else has been sucessful and has located the site where I can download and install the Update.........
Every time I run windows update all of the updates download but they don't install properly. When I restart the computer I get the message downloads did not configure properly windows is reconfiguring. I can alway download and install optional updates but anything that is important will not install. I get a variety of error codes. Has anyone had problems with windows update on vista?
I first download a file after the download is complete, when i searched for the file on where it was saved, i can not find the file and if i try to double click the file on the downloads window it can not be click, i also tried to right click the file but the open or open containg folder was not available. what should i do the fix this problem.
That is the message I get from the icon in my Vista tray. When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I am quite fearful at this point that I am vulnerable to all sorts of attacks considering that I haven't updated Vista for about 6 months now. This is not good.
have home premium 32bit. When trying to download 15 day trial web i get the pop up widow to allow however the file listed is dfsvc.exe and not the program file. The program owner and I have tried to find the error but can't. Have scaneed withe AVG,Spybot and a couple of online programs and all say no threat. Using regedit I can't find this dfsvc file. To see if this problem would repeat I downloaded a board game and no problem.
I recently discovered that the addresses in Windows Mail only auto completes 29 address. Dave suggested that I download Windows Live Mail the desktop version (not hotmail which apparently I am confusing it with). What is the website to download Windows Live Mail Desktop and is it free?? Running Vista Home Premium. When the SP 2 is released, will it simply ( automatically ) download as another typical Windows update? Or will I need to do more drastic measures?
Over the last couple of days my laptop won't update, neither will it allow me to download software. When i try to update it, it comes up with an error code (C000012F)??? I have tried to download malware and spyware removal tools but it wont let me download them again it just comesup with an error code. I have also tried to do a system restore but it won't let me do this either.
I have been waiting for Windows Update to offer SP1 and it has not happened yet. I am in no rush for SP1, but am beginning to wonder if it will ever be automatically offered. Should I continue to wait, or should I manually download it from the MS site. My concern is the update process might know something about my system that could cause me problems after a manual download.

If you like to stay on the bleeding edge of technology (and you’re running Vista) you may want to consider modifying two registry keys on your system so that you can participate in the Vista SP2 Beta program. To join the program all you have to do is download this batch file, and run it on your Vista machine as an administrator (right click - Run as administrator). Then just check for available Windows Updates (it may take 30 minutes or so for it to show up in the Windows Updates).
Think carefully whether you want to do this or not. There will likely be some bugs that could cause problems with your system, but at the very least it will cause Vista to expire on 4/2/2010 (or around then). Plus it will place the “Evaluation copy” message on your desktop wallpaper. You can always uninstall Vista SP2 to remove the evaluation message and expiration date, but it’s important to know what you’re getting into before you try to install it.
So what’s new in Vista SP2? Here’s a brief rundown that the Vista blog provided last week:Windows Vista SP2 adds Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches. Windows Vista SP2 contains the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology. Ability to record data on to Blu-Ray media natively in Windows Vista. Adds Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration. Windows Vista SP2 enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones. Windows Vista SP2 is expected to be released in final form sometime in the first half of 2009. Judging by the expiration date of Vista SP2 Beta I’d say that sounds about right.

I'm considering installing SP2 on my XPS 420 PC using Windows Update. But I have some questions:
1. Windows Update calls it SP2, but is it really SP2 or just a release candidate (RC)? If so, should I wait awhile? 2. Reading the mail on this community suggests there are lots of problems with SP2. If so, should I wait--but how would I know when problems are fixed? 3. Will it mess up Windows Mail? (Mine works OK with, for example, AOL-generated e-mails.) 4. Earlier, I downloaded SP1 with no trouble. P.S. - I'm rather non-technical.
1.. I have an HP Pavilion desktop running Vista Home Premium - Works like a gem and downloaded and installed SP1 easy as anything and all is fine.
2.. I have an ACER laptop that I installed Vista Ultimate on and it does all the download updates as necessary and works well.
3.. However, it seems NOT to want to know about downloading and installing SP1 - I have auto update switched on but SP1 never seems to be in the list of updates
4.. SP1 does not show on the summary of laptop either...so I assume it has NOT downloaded and installed SP1,Any ideas why it does not want to know about SP1? The laptop has 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard disk and a 128MB video card.....
I am having a bit of a problem with my Nvidia Geforce 7950 gx2, everytime I download the new update it stalls and then goes to a black screen then boots a blue error that has nvlddmkm.sys. I can't figure out what to do.
I need to download an Adobe Flash Player update. In the upper left corner a dialogue box opens up and asks me if I want to save the file. I click on save and that is the last I see of it. The dialogue box closes and I have no idea where the file is being saved to. I have used the search function and it always comes back that it cannot find the file I requested. Worse yet, Vista does not give me a choice as to where I want the file saved. I have drive C: drive D: on the primary HD. I have a drive G: on an external drive. I never had these type of problems when running XP Home on my previous computer. I have myself set up as administrator to try to avoid some of the roadblocks that Vista puts up.
i perform the window update for my PC, i notice that a huge number of space is taken up. How can i view the updated file and delete the unnecessary ones? I can't find the update file. I try to perform this:C:WINDOWSSoftwareDistributionDataStore" Delete "DataStore.edb".
I have a yellow caution sign next to my WAN Miniport (SSTP) in Device manager. I tried to update this MS driver but Vista does not find one. I suspect this is the driver problem error that is causing the SP1 install error.
I have Vista Ultimate and I need this update to fix my screen saver/wireless mouse issues, and I can not find this update anywhere. When I go to Windows update, there is no optional updates, hardware updates or custom updates available.
I tried to load the drivers for my printer which seem to load ok but then I get the message "usb2.0 mfp (high speed) device found" and I don't know what to do next as windows update carnt find the driver.
My laptop is doing so weird and wild stuff, and I'd much rather take care of this problem myself (with the help of the internet, of course) than take it to a rotund egghead who will probably press three buttons, fix it completely, and charge me five hundred dollars. So here's the deal: First, when I was to click on, say, a Picture folder, the folder will load up but all the thumbnailed images of all my pictures will be the same stock Windows image. Like, I can't preview any of my pictures by looking at their thumbnails anymore. So that was a problem, and it's still a problem. Haven't fixed that one. Now recently, when I want to open a program, say Itunes or Firefox, instead of doing exactly that, it takes me to a Windows 'Open With' subscreen and asks me with WHICH program I'd like to open....the program I'd like to open. It's maddening.
My Macafee isn't opening any more. I just did a Dell System Update last night but it said it didn't find anything. I ran an Ad-Aware that didn't find anything. And to top it all off, for some reason my computer simply cannot check for new Windows Updates.I have no idea what's going on. Oh and if it matters my keyboard is all wonky. Not that that's an issue anybody here can help me with but I thought I'd mention it. My laptop is only a year or so old so I'm not sure why it's having all these issues. I Have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit (SP1) My frustrations began when I tried to download and install various programs.
1) I had to go on a chat line to actually get Mozilla Firefox installed. 2) This machine will download things, but will never install. I have tried to install things like ITunes, KodakEasyShare.....no go 3) Have noticed that the Windows Update will not install the update for 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1. I have run an antispyware...I was clean. I do not know what else to do. I am so frustrated it irks me to think a brand new computer would have all these gliches already!
I tried to download/install a game from realarcade today. When the installer program was running I got a message that an error occured. I tried to redownload the game and this time I got a windows message that files were corrupted, try again. I also got a dialog box saying the program might not have installed properly or I could check it had installed properly. I clicked cancel but immediately another box appeAred as if it were trying to install. I hit cancel. My question, where does all the files/programing reside after I hit cancel. Can any of it be left over and be in an incomplete state and mess up anything else? I looked in programs to see if it could be uninstalled but it was not in that list.
I have a VistaUltimate 64 installation that had SP RC1 installed. I duly uninstalled it, apparently successfully, but I cannot install SP1 either from the standalone download or WU. I get the message SP1 is already installed. I still have the evaluation copy text on my screen. There is no entry anymore in program settings regarding SP1 RC1. Is there a workaround for this. I do not want to rebuild this PC.
I am using Vista Ultimate with a wireless mouse and I need the HID Non-user Input Data Filter update to fix the screen saver problems. When I go to Windows update, this optional update is not available. I have tried everywhere to find this update.
I couldn't find a newsgroup that was English Windows updates, so since most updates involve security issues I guess I will vent here. This is the second time in about two months that my Vista Home Premium 32 bit desktop computer has been stuck in Update hell. It was perfectly fine all day yesterday and then when I started it this morning, it went to the green and blue screen "Configuring Updates State 3 of 3 0% complete Do not turn off your computer" and then it restarts, only to return to that exact same screen.
After watching it do that at least six times I finally turned it off. It took me about 14 more tries to get to start in a "safe" or "repair" mode which it is in now, still being "repaired." That was two hours ago. When this happened last time it was at the exact same point with the 3 of 3 screen. It seems that the only solution to this would be to turn off automatice updates and check for them and install them when my computer is not coming out of a cold start. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone have a better solution to avoid this than turning off automatice updates?
my computer with Vista Home Premium 32 will not install downloaded software. After download a window just pops up and says 'windows has identified a porblem with this software' saying it is not digitally signed. The main program i am trying to down load is AVG (but it does it with other programs too) , i know the software is good because i used to have it on my laptop. If have installed the certificate but still no joy.
I bought a downloaded version of Vista from Microsoft. I did not get a CD or DVD. I installed it with a dual boot putting Vista on a little partition so I could see how I liked it. No I am ready to wipe out my XP and Previous Vista and start over. However all I have is this big zip file and unpacked there is no documentation or anything for that matter on how to make a disk, or make a disk from an ISO file.
I cannot download or install updated because my Background Intelligent Transfer Service is not working for some reason. Does anybody here knows the solution for this issue? By the way, I have Windows Vista Business and there's an error message it's 800 something.
ever since I allowed my new computer (6 mos. old, and running Vista) to download and install the updates available Feb. 12, it has been a horror show. My computer is crashing at least once a day. I've tried going back to various previous restore points, but then, after the "restore process", up pops the message "System retore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. ". In addition I can no longer use task bar tabs in Wordperfect, to, for example change margins. If I do, up on the screen flashes a message saying that I've committed an error, then terminates my word processing screen. Even if I bring up a letter I typed ayear ago and try to change anything, Vista interjects and closes the application.
