I do not want to include the addresses of my contacts when I send emails to a number of people at the same time. How do I remove the addresses without going through all ttheBCC stuff?

View 4 Replies View RelatedForgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.

1/ LDIF
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under an LDIF format.
I then imported this LDIF file within Contacts
The import stops 1/5 of the way, simply saying that there is an error
in the contacts, and it stays stuck
2/ CVS
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under a CVS file. I then tried to import the file within Contacts but cannot do the mapping:
- all column headings are lumped together, with plenty of ","
- all accentuated caracters are replaced by squares
Also, with the LDIF method, 50 contacts out of 300 were imported. In these imported contacts, all accentuated caracters were replaced by symbols. I opened the CVS file in Microsoft Excel: everything is fine.
I installed Outlook 2003 on my computer which has Vista Ultimate so I could use a Dell Axim. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying for hours, now. My problem is that the contacts fields get all mixed up because they were outlook and them gmail, and now back to outlook 2007. But when I try to export them to Windows Vista Contacts I loose all information. My outlook 2007 is a trial version and will expire next time I turn it on, so I have to get it done today.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just accidently lost a JSP file (it's a type of file, eg., somefile.jsp) and went to Backup and Restore to recover the file. Much to my shock and horror, it looks like no JSP files were backed up, even though I have all checkboxes checked in the Backup configuration and have regularly run backup. How do I get the Backup and Restore program to backup all files types? If Backup and Restore can't do it, is there something I can load (eg., maybe the old XP Pro backup) from Microsoft?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is probably small to most people and maybe many prefer it now, but when manually renaming a file the extension is not highlighted forcing me to have to perform a second manual operation to highlight the whole filename. It is the 'rename' function but I use it to copy and paste the entire file name. Like I said it is probably a minor thing to most, but I do this many, many times a day so if there was anyway to have this function behave like it did in all previous Windows versions I would like to know how to do that.

Info: I want to specify a folder and back that up each night. Vista Automatic Backup only lists which hard drive I can include, and then asks for which device I backup to, then which files types (photos, movies etc). There doesn't appear to be an "advanced" option, which lets me click on each folder and put a X for it to be backed up. Would choosing "other" give me access to the folder view? It's backing up right now and I don't want to cancel because it's taking a while to do the backup.
Ours is a home computer that is used by my wife and myself. Together we receive less than 20 e-mail messages per day. I notice that Windows 7 does not include any e-mail program at all, so I was wondering about the future of Windows Mail. Even Windows Live Mail is complicated for us "Old Timers". I guess I would like to see Windows Mail go on forever.

View 8 Replies View RelatedLong story short, I registered for my Windows 7 upgrade and overwritten my drive (and my restore partition) with the Windows 7 90-day trial in anticipation. problem is, it is clear that my Windows 7 upgrade kit will not be arriving and my 90-day trial is halfway done. so, I have to reinstall Vista. Unfortunately I do not have a copy of Vista because I wiped my drive and so I have to download it (TO BE ACTIVATED ON MY KEY), and I know for a fact that the generic disks for XP, Vista, and Windows 7 do not have a driver for my SATA controller. this means that I have to insert the driver onto the installation.
Since I have to insert my drive driver onto the installation media, I figure I should include drivers, and what the heck include some applications. Now, what applications do you recommend for a basic install of Windows Vista Home Premium that does not use a lot of system resources or otherwise are irrlelvent. So far I have: GO-OO: An OpenOffice clone that includes needed plugins, such as read/write docx support Microsoft Security Essentials.

When I try it says that no codec is installed. what I need to download, preferably for free, to either get WMP to play DVDs, or a free player that's not too obnoxious with ads. I tried installing the K-Lite Standard Codec pack, but either I did it wrong or it isn't enough.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the Vista program Windows Contacts in conjunction with using email programs. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I like to use Outlook 2000 as my email program. I have the same problem if I use Windows Mail as my email program. I can use Outlook to send and receive email, but I cannot add any contacts to Windows Contacts. Also when creating a new email, if I click on the To… button to get to Windows Contacts, I get the error message “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If this problem persists, restart Outlook.”, which of course does not help.
I am not sure, but I think I created the problem by importing Outlooks 2000 contacts from my old PC in an improper format into Outlook 2000 on my new Vista PC (which is where the problem is).
