Furthermore, though there is in her "Slimline" one available slot provided to accept a "replacement" graphics card (for whichever model would have such a card) according to the manual, it will accept only "low profile" cards, and even at that they warn it still might not fit, so as to allow the inputs and outputs be exposed at the opening.
And since for her computer, this would not be a card replacement,those "cables" and plugs they refer to would be who-knows-where on the motherboard, or even hard-wired to it.
So now I'm wondering about something like this RGB to S-video

My friend is largely blind, but she can see images and text on a large screen. My question is this: would such a converter enable video output from her computer to a large 42" LCD HDTV--and if so, would the mouse function be operative on that large screen same as on the 19" LCD monitor that came with her computer? Most importantly, would she get a full 42" display of her desktop and applications?
I have a HP Pavilion computer that has the video card built into the motherboard, I want to run dual monitors on the computer. Can I using the existing video card setup and get another video card to run the second monitor, or do I need to get a dual monitor video card? Or is there any other options for a dual monitor setup. This computer is not for high speed graphics. No gaming on this system. Just need to know the best way to approach this situation or what you would recommend.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an 8800GT and a 7600 GT Geforce card. The 8800 is for my primary monitor, a Nec, and also runs a small Dell. The 7600 is for two Dells. But when I go to Preferences in CS3 and check "GPU Settings" it says it detects the 7600 card, not the 8800. So then I looked at Vista color management and there it shows the monitor connected to the 7600 card as my default monitor. How can I change the default monitor to make it the Nec, which is already the primary? And will that cause Photoshop to then detect the 8800 card instead of the 7600?

It’s still in dual screen mode as I can see a taskbar window fly to the second monitor. But I have to sleep and wake again to get it to come back on. Anyone else experience something like this? I don’t remember it ever happening before and was wondering if it could be the patch.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi want to connect my pc to my tv using hdmi and also keep my desktop monitor using vga but be able to view both screens identically. my mobo is a gigabyte ga-73pvm-s2h and im using the onboard nvidia geforce7100 /nforce 630i graphics. at the moment the only way i can connect tv and monitor is by using the nvidia control panel but i cant set diferent resolutions for each screen and run them both identically so whichever screen i set as the main is fine but when i look at the second screen res is wrong.. is there a way to have both screens running simutaneously with different resolutions(my monitor is 15" and tv 32")or a setting in windows to allow this rather than having to change the main screen all the time?

I have bought a 4 port KVM switch with DVI in and out. My XP machine (although it has a DVI connection on the back of the video card) won't connect. I have now added a DVI to VGA connector at the XP machine. Still won't recognize the monitor. The Win7 machine has no problem with it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn some sites when I am trying to view streaming videos with Windows Media Player, I get an error message that says something to the effect that windows media player encountered a problem when playing the file...on other sites it works...just loads up saying connecting to media and then says ready...not sure what the problem is...I even have the same message when playing it in the player and not on the site...I am using Firefox..have the same problem in IE as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOne day i tried logging in using windows live messenger and got an error 81000306. I've tried disabling autotuning as prescribed by some websites but it has not worked. Tried resetting winsock, forwarding ports for the .net messenger, repaired Windows live messenger, and still no go. I ran the windows live messenger tests and they all passed, so it's weird that i cannot connect.
I've also noticed that when logging on to sites that use the windows Live ID, the pages will not load. Status indicated on the browser is that it says " Connected to logon.live.com " but dOes nothing else. no webpage is loaded and it does this until the connection times out. This happens when signing in to bungie.net or xbox.com as well. I also have my xbox 360 connected to the same modem (without a router, i just take the ethernet cord and plug it to whichever i wanna use), and it can connec to Windows messenger on the dashboard ok.
Have restarted and restarted, have power cycled the modem, even reseated my D-Link ethernet pci card. I have not made any large changes, other than i am using Open DNS, and it's updater since my ISP has dynamic IP, and i have turned off UAC. I've done every troubleshooting step i can think of (I worked for tech support for a computer manufacturer, so i've pretty much used up everything that training has given me and my 2 years experience in that field). All other messenger programs work. Tried using pidgin, with the same result, i can connect with all other IMs except windows live.
I'm fairly new to the forums, and a total noob to Vista and 64 bit, but learning fast from all the great info here.
I'm looking into MAYBE clocking my CPU to around the 3.0-3.2 Ghz range if possible.
I've been reading in here for a couple days, getting some idea of the hows and why's, ( or why nots! ) But its very obvious I need alot of help and some good info. So, anyone willing to help me out? First alittle about the machine.

I'd think in preporation, either a better heat sink or a cooler for the CPU is needed, but I havent looked at any base ( stock ) temps at the moment.
Generally considering the motherboard and CPU below in a well ventilated case
with fans on everything, what would be an acceptable CPU temperature range in

View 8 Replies View RelatedI added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have only one monitor, and somehow it is being treat as though its the secondary monitor in a dual monitor set up. i cannot view my start menu, or view any programs being opened, as when i try to open them, they presumeably open on the phantom primary monitor. even when i try to open display settings, i cannot see the box. i am able to move my mouse to the left border of the screen and move it off into oblivion, and occasionally drag random folders and short cuts over to view.

This is my grapics card i had it running at like 40C MSI USA – Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more. Last i took out my video card and went to the on board video and tried that and yet it did not work ether. I tried reformatting thinking it was drivers or something didn't work ether. every time i try installing the OS i get General causes of "STOP 0x0000007F" errors Divide by zero error A divide by zero is caused when a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is 0. Memory corruption (or other hardware problems) or software failures can cause this. anyone on here who knows XP well let me know im running a diagnostic test right now to find the problem.
My Vista was doing it's normal updates and I looked at the Live Essentials and I said "What the heck, I'll try Them" I have not been able to use Windows Live Photo Gallery as of yet. When I want to open a picture, an error box comes up saying "An error is preventing the photo or video from being displayed." The version of this software is 2009 Bulid 14.0.8081.709.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a Nvidia 8400GS When i got the PC but brought a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 / 1GB / PCI Express 2.0 / Graphics Card. My brother took out the Nvid card and then formated the PC to make sure that all drivers where uninstalled then put the ATI card in. In divice manager under dispaly adapters there is standard VGA Graphics Adapter and further down the page there is "Other Divices" with Video controller. When it installs these some times the standard VGA Graphics Adapter fail but the video controller succeed but with error. saying. "Incompatable display Adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter". lso i carnt change the resolution above 1024X768. Also my Graphic card is a Sapphier brand but in the windows update its looking for ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ASUS EAH3870X2 Series

I'm using a Compaq SR5410F with Vista and have been dealing with the standard "out of range" message quite frequently. I'm aware of the "out of range" fix but I have a 22" LCD and do alot of graphics, 800x600 doesn't suit me, XP gave me better than 1024x960 and I don't think that Vista is the OS for me but when I bought this computer it was only offered with Vista.
Last night, I could not get to safe mode nor to a command prompt, the only screen available was the recovery utility and the only option was to reformat the Windows partition and once the recovery started, I shut down immediately once I realized that I'd lose my files but it was too late, the only screen that would show up was the recovery screen. I have heard that the data still resides on the drive and now that I've reinstalled all of my software, I need to know whether the lost files can ever be recovered.
My girlfriend has a Dell Inspiron 1525 running Vista Home Basic. I set up a second display (17" Hewlett Packard CRT) for her so that she could hook her laptop up, close it and look at the second display on her desk. All was working fine until she changed the resolution on the CRT, and somehow placed it in a setting that was OUT OF RANGE. I have subsequently tried unistalling the video drivers, graphics card, booting it in safe mode and changing the refresh rate, none of which works. It's also worth noting that the display funstions perfectly fine while the laptop lid is open, but reverts to OUT OF RANGE as soon as it is closed.

My set-up is very simple yet I cannot connect to a device. I have a Router which has three connections via ethernet.
1. Vista Machine
2. XP Machine
3. Music Server (systemline)

I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.
