Every time i try to update the Video drivers they install and it shuts down my monitor? Runs the drivers from 02 /07 just fine but latest release and beta both black screen me says monitor isnt getting a signal...........
View 8 RepliesI have been wanting to buy a video capture device to put my VHSs on my computer and have decided the time is now. I have looked at the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum and am happy with the reviews but it doesn't have 64 bit drivers. So would do you guys recommend to me? If I have to I can buy the dazzle and just use it with my old xp machine but I would like one that I can use with my vistax64. I guess a tv tuner would also work but what software would I use to record and seperate one video stream in to two files?

*Uninstalled/Reinstalled Video/Audio drivers
*Rebuilt Index
*Stopped using Aero
*Taken battery out....
It should be noted that the computer runs fine in Safe Mode and Safe Mode with networking. The computer freezes randomly into the session, when starting up in normal mode, it freezes within 2-5 minutes. When in diagnostic mode with only microsoft services enabled, it last maybe 10-15,20 minutes. It lasts around 30 minutes with windows audio off, but who knows what thats about. The freeze usually is sudden, I'll be typing or performing a task like deleting something, or adding a song to my music library and it'll simply stop working, the start menu will work (except in aero, the start menu and task bar freeze also) but I can't open anything, and eventually the blue circular pointer pops up and everything including the start menu and right click stop working.
I use my computer for home recording and music, so I do download alot, although, my virus scanners aren't detecting anything. It should be noted though, that I can never run a full scan, because the computer freezes before it can ever get through. My laptop screen is broken, it broke perhaps a month after I got it, from my own negligence, but it was working fine after that, I just hooked up an external monitor. In December my friend gave me a copy of Cubase, upon trying to install it, the computer experienced a serious slow down, so I removed it, and downloaded BitDefender to see if I could find a problem. After installing bit defender and trying to run it the computer ceased to last in normal mode for more than 5 minutes, and I've been in safe mode since then, although, that could be coincidence. It should also be noted, sound works in safe mode for me? The plastic lining for my line in and microphone ports are also cracked, but thats just general wear and tear I believe, and shouldn't affect my computer this much should it?
if xp can be used instad of vista in a laptop that says " designed for vista"? Iwas told in best buy that such thing would slow the laptop and make it not working properly, because the drivers in xp are out of date... how about if i find the drivers for the laptop and instal them seperatedly with xp? ANd another q: can i make partitions in vista before installing xp( eventually)? and how?

Furthermore, though there is in her "Slimline" one available slot provided to accept a "replacement" graphics card (for whichever model would have such a card) according to the manual, it will accept only "low profile" cards, and even at that they warn it still might not fit, so as to allow the inputs and outputs be exposed at the opening.
And since for her computer, this would not be a card replacement,those "cables" and plugs they refer to would be who-knows-where on the motherboard, or even hard-wired to it.
So now I'm wondering about something like this RGB to S-video

My friend is largely blind, but she can see images and text on a large screen. My question is this: would such a converter enable video output from her computer to a large 42" LCD HDTV--and if so, would the mouse function be operative on that large screen same as on the 19" LCD monitor that came with her computer? Most importantly, would she get a full 42" display of her desktop and applications?
I have a HP Pavilion computer that has the video card built into the motherboard, I want to run dual monitors on the computer. Can I using the existing video card setup and get another video card to run the second monitor, or do I need to get a dual monitor video card? Or is there any other options for a dual monitor setup. This computer is not for high speed graphics. No gaming on this system. Just need to know the best way to approach this situation or what you would recommend.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an 8800GT and a 7600 GT Geforce card. The 8800 is for my primary monitor, a Nec, and also runs a small Dell. The 7600 is for two Dells. But when I go to Preferences in CS3 and check "GPU Settings" it says it detects the 7600 card, not the 8800. So then I looked at Vista color management and there it shows the monitor connected to the 7600 card as my default monitor. How can I change the default monitor to make it the Nec, which is already the primary? And will that cause Photoshop to then detect the 8800 card instead of the 7600?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi shall start from the beginning, went to clean my pc out, as normal, took out my dvi-i adapter, left it on the side.... my boy got hold of it (bless him), couple of pins missing, so i brought a new one off ebay for very cheap talking less than 2 quid (i know !), so while i wait i take out my 7900 GS to clean its fan as its not accessible while in tower.... so the new dvi-i comes , i put card back in, start up and looks ok till i get "mode not supported" on my lcd.. tried few times, no joy.
so card comes out, put vga into onboard, works fine, so monitor seems good. deleted nvidia drivers, switched off put card in, adapter, cables, start up then card installs itself, restart , all good so far, apart from old drivers and crap resolution.. i noticed in my device manager there was no "Monitor Tab", after a brief search, i updated and i now have a Monitor tab and have "Generic PnP monitor" in the section.
Then i update to newest drivers, after i restart i get the message "Mode Not Supported" with H 75.0 hz / V 60.0 hz under it. i tried this with several drivers back to july 2008, still no luck, and tried all resolutions also tried it with my old crt monitor and i get a "frequency" message. so could this be the cheap ass adapter? , my card ?, bit to hard a clean and broke it?
my laptop suddenly become black but lcd light it on.... i'm also hear sound the windows boot normally but no image/video at all.... i tried to connect another monitor still no image/video just appear error massage 'Out Of Range' then i try another monitor also error massage ' please adjust refresh rate '... so actually what problem here my monitor or gpu??

Ive planned to get vista 64 seeing as i have a machine capable of running a 64 bit o/s with ease (when i buy my extra 2gb of ram along with my copy of vista) I have been doing my research on which of my games ill still be able to play & tbh the only ones that im remotely worried about are older than red orchestra so no problems there.
My only real concern is the drivers for my belkin wireless card (f5d7001uk) which doesnt have any vista 32 drivers! But ive heard a rumour that vista automatically installs the drivers itself?? Im also worried that some of the useful little apps i have installed wont install such as winrar, wavepad, deepburner pro 1.8 & punkbuster
While being satisfied by the cool effects and new interface of Windows Vista Codename Longhorn, many of us testers are what you would call "gamers." The lot of us would like to know if gaming on the default Vista Supplemental drivers would mean loss of graphics quality compared to using up to date drivers on a XP OS. For example, I installed Vista and then installed my trusty game, Battlefield 2. I tried using the new nvidia Vista drivers but the game kept crashing when I start it up. So I reinstalled the Vista Supplemental drivers and it happened to work. Quite interesting. I am able to run the game on default vista drivers and not the nvidia vista drivers. Coming to conclusion, would using the vista drivers result in loss of quality and graphics compared to using up to date drivers on a XP system? Or you can also rephrase it; Would gaming be better on the Vista Beta or XP? Does anyone know if SLI works on Vista?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have only one monitor, and somehow it is being treat as though its the secondary monitor in a dual monitor set up. i cannot view my start menu, or view any programs being opened, as when i try to open them, they presumeably open on the phantom primary monitor. even when i try to open display settings, i cannot see the box. i am able to move my mouse to the left border of the screen and move it off into oblivion, and occasionally drag random folders and short cuts over to view.

I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

i don't know the reason, but the night before it happened i detached the fan to clean it then re-attached it again "appropiately" and turned the pc on and it worked, and i did a deep system scan using trail version of BitDefender Total Security 2009 "which ends tomorrow btw" and i slept, and when i woke up the next day it was done and i read the report and all was good!
i turned it off, and by noon when i started it again, the problem appeared, and it started shuttingdown by itself since then..
i am writing this post while i am on SafeMode, and it's working on safemode and didn't shutdown in half an hour now ...
My windows xp that I have had for about 2 years suddenly started to shut down and restart on its own. Out of the blue, over and over. Boots up shuts down, Boots up shuts down. I use it for my business payroll and bill paying. When I do get it to stay on for a couple minutes I have to restart my active desk top. I have tried defrag and cleaning it up. Checked all my plugs and tried everything I can think of.

By shutting off, I mean it just turns off...no BSOD, no errors, just turns off...at random intervals that are usually within five mins. I updated my display drivers a few days ago, and they're currently at the highest version, but it's been a few days, and this just started this morning. It seems to be fine in safe mode (which I'm in now to post this)...which leads me to think it is, in fact, display drivers...but they're up to date, I have no solution there...now what?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhile playing WoW after 5-10min the screen while stop moving, sound goes on some sort of loop making a dun-dun-dun repeatedly for about 8 seconds. The computer shuts down. Restarts. Once i've logged back in this message comes back up. I can play WoW again for 5-10min before this happens again.

My computer just powers off wothout warning sometimes then won't turn on again for several minutes. The computer hasn't been overheating or even under heavy load when it happens. Which piece of hardware is the cause of my trouble so that I can replace it? The motherboard is an ABIT IS7, the PSU is a Coolmax 450W, and the CPU is a 2.8GHz P4 Northwood. Or is the problem with something else?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium on an HP dv9000 laptop. A couple of weeks ago, my laptop decided to shut down on its own. No error message, no blue screen... it just shut down. It does not restart. It will not start again for two or three minutes after it first shuts itself down. At first, I thought it was a problem with a game (The Sims 2), and maybe my graphics card (an nVidia GeForce 8800, IIRC). Then, it started doing it at other times, sometimes when I was just surfing the internet. I can give more information about my system upon request.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe recently brought a laptop with Vista Home and have had on going issues with it not shutting down. Everytime we hit shut down it goes to the logging off screen but never actually makes it. We have left it running over night and come down the next morning and its still "logging off"! We have tried the Ctrl Alt Del combination to see whats causing the issues but the task manager doesnt load up. This has been an ongoing issue for about 3 weeks and have probably only had the laptop for a month.
Forceably switching it off, which we have to, causes the safety mode prompt to come on at the next start up. If we do not run the safety mode we arent able to use the internet as it doesnt connect. So, running it in safety mode is the only way to get things back to normal. I should add that when I start up in safety mode it goes to a black screen eventually with "safety mode" written in each corner. Ive no idea how to move away from this so just hit the main off button but we can get back on the net when it reboots.
Having read a few issues with shutting down it doesnt appear that anyone has the ongoing issue we do and as mentioned Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. On the rare occasion we have got it to shut down properly it reverts the next time. We run McAfee anti virus and as a fairly new laptop there isnt much that we have downloaded since purchase. I also have a desktop and never experienced this ongoing issue!
I´m looking for some opinions about this issue I´m getting. Recently I got as a present a vista ultimate desktop which previously hadn´t given any troubles to it´s owner. So I brought the pc home and started using it without a problem, but after one day the computer starts shutting down on me. No error screens, nothing, it just shuts down. It doesnt restart or anything, all of the sudden it goes blank. I can turn it on again, it boots and I can use it for a while and again it shuts down. I have left it on all night and it didnt turn off, but it seems to happen when I am using it. There´s no pattern here, it might happen at any moment, without any logical trigger. I opened the tower to check the fans and they are both working well. I downloaded a soft called everest to monitor fan and cpu temps, and both the motherboard and processors remain usually between 50 and 60 degrees celsius and the fan remains around 2800 rpm.
I have no idea whats going on and can´t seem to find any conclusive solution on the net or asking friends. I am certain this didn´t happen before I brought the computer home, but I also did a system restore to a date previous to when I brought it to make sure it is not software related and the problem persist. The computer didn´t suffer any hit or impact on the way here. I am at loss, the pc works flawlessly and I am thrilled to use it, but as long as this problem persist I have to continue using my old crappy laptop.
i have of late, is that when i leave the computer running, normally only playing music or a film, after 30 minutes it my display goes blank: normally it doesn't (the monitor) display that there is no video input. But yet im blank, and then a minute goes buy and then my computer shuts off. I've done a virus scan with NOD32 - came black clean And a scan with Ad-Aware - again clean. I've recently reinstalled all my Operating Systems (i multi-boot: XP, Vista and 7) for better file management.
