my computer showing white screen. I maybe turn it on and a few minutes later it's completely white. Sometimes it showes first stripes, black and white. I've googled it but not found much so I went here to ask. For about 2 months ago I had problem with BSOD but re-installed Vista and it was OK. My computer is Packard Bell SB87 (something like that, not sure) and with Vista Home Premium.

This made my WHOLE operating system go completely retarded, but once I used safe mode a couple of times it sorted out. I recently installed Ubuntu, so I can dual-boot my laptop. Now, all of a sudden after the Ubuntu install, my windows vista is broken!! I get to the log in screen, and i log in as normal, and then i get to my desktop - which is just a blank white screen with my curser on it. I can press CTRL-ALT-DEL, and i can log off and shut down, but I can not use task manager, and it gives me an error message saying something like 'it can not run' or something.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have found over the past few weeks my system has been locking up in the first 10 minutes or so. All i get is a whit screen and a constant freeze out that is not resolved by ctrl alt del. I have taken the following actions
1. took side off case and removed any dust which was minimal
2. cleaned down heatsink
3. removed plug in Graphics card as i noticed it was very hot (GF8400GS)
4. reinstalled Vista ultimate from scratch
5. left the system running with the side off
alas it is still crashing in the first few minutes or wehn i try to install anything. The system is currently clean with just the install software given it crashes as soon as i try to do anything. It is 8 months old and in very good condition. I am at an absolute loss as to what could be. As stated before i cannot run for more than a few minutes so am struggling to do anything with the system....
Vista installed fine and everything works fine until, a piece of software asked to restart. Now I have to hope that is boots. Because when it the boot process reaches the microsoft corporation and finishes, the system gives a blank screen and hangs. If I wait long enough, 15+ minutes, it finally boots with the vista logo on the second screen and logon password on the first screen. This is a new pc, just built, I should not have this problem. The pc has an integrated nvidia 9400 with 9800gt. Can it be a grahics card problem? I used the cd to install the drivers that came with the 9800gt.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to load my computer last night and my computer wouldn't load. It said there was a problem and recommended a system repair. I did this and it then went to another screen saying it needed to check the c drive to make sure that it was consitent with the other drivers. When that was complete i could then enter my password and log in. When i did that i went to the internet then my screen started to fade to a snow white screen. My PC then froze. I switched it off and went throught the same process as above. This time i started to do a virus scan on my pc and halfway through the scan my pc froze again and couldn't complete the scan.
when I try to start up my computer (hp - with vista), it goes straight to a black screen with a white arrow curser (which I can move around). The screen saver will come on after a few minutes, but when I touch a key, I get back to the same blank screen. Alt-Ctrl-Del does nothing. I have tried rebooting in safe mode, and I still end up with the blank screen. I do not have have the Windows CD (pre-installed when I bought it), and my CD drive is not working anyways (been broken for a few weeks).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought an Asus G50-VT with Vista pre-installed. There was some sort of glitch while I was overnighting the download of a long file. Anyway I wound up at what I can only say was the blue screen of death except now it's white. It told me that Windows could not restart and I should insert my installation disk to repair a busted file which it also named. Looked and I had no installation disk, indeed I did not have any Windows disks at all included with the machine. I called Asus Tech Support. They told me that Microsoft no longer lets OEMs ship the windows disks. Although there were two disks called "recovery disks" the TS person said my only option was to hold down f9 to rebootr and WIPE THE DISK AND REINSTALL WINDOWS! So I lost all my data and have spent all morning recovering.
Was Asus right? You do not get install disks anymore even though a system message tells you to insert it? I only have a few days in which I could return this computer. Do other manufacturers like Sony or Hewlett Packard supply Windows Vista installtion disks with their machines? Or is Asus right? If it is just Asus that does not do this I feel I need to return this right away.
I have new computer, but about two week after purchase this problem started. The screen freezes with a Yellow and white checkard effect, then goes black. The computer is still running but not the screen. The only thing to do it hold the on off button on the tower and reboot. This happened a few times, and I was going to contact my supplier. Then it stopped for about two weeks. But it has just happened again?
View 6 Replies View Relatedlet me start this nightmare story i had just done a fresh restalled and spent hours on getting everything installed on pc all was fine working perfectly untill that is i installed vista service pack 1 from windows updates the update process crashed halfway through so i had the only option to restart my pc then came the blue screen of death and it metioned if you have any new hardware installed make sure all drivers are installed etc etc of course i know it wasnt hardware it was because of me restating my pc half way threw the service pack 1 and the full files not been installed threw the update process crashed was the reason for the blue screen but the blue screen had notes advising me to clear shadow memory in the bois and any other memory so i stupidly assumed this was channel mapping and bank mapping and put them all to zero please see jpeg of what i changed i basically disabled everything that was enabled and put all the mapping channels and bank channels to zero and now when i switch on my laptop i get a blank screen with no post no ...........

As a matter of fact, several programs are not showing. In researching this I found that it is a common bug in Vista and found a fix through Microsoft, but too complicated for me to perform. The problem it has caused is an automatic update, updated 2007 and now my 2003 is not working properly.

I'm trying to use Adobe Premier Pro CS3, but it keeps crashing due to lack of memory. Page file is at the max. This problem only recently occurred. I used to be able to view all 3gb in task manager, but for some reason it doesn't let me anymore. Is there a way to enable all 3gb again to be used for applications?

So I went and checked my network settings. My computer is alone, not on any networks, but "JACQUELINE-PC" and a media version of that is showing up on my network. My network was private and I changed it to public, seeing as Windows Help said that is safest for lone computers. I also added a password to my windows computer account. View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know whats up but my G9 Mouse is now showing a blue square on screen when I press the middle mouse button down to scroll pages, it used to show a circle with 2 arrows within one facing up the other facing down if I remember rightly. Now its just a blue square, its uptodate software and driver wise, so I really do not know what else to try, I just tried setting the wheel to a different option, it is currently set to Autoscroll, but nothing else makes the problem stop and go back to how it was.

My eSATA drives show in the BIOS boot screen but hangs on the Vista drivers loading bard or just beyond on the black screen before the Windows logo. If I restart without the eSATA device connected/powered up Vista loads normally and if I then switch on/plug in the eSATA drive it is not recognised by windows anywhare. I have looked in disk management in the admin folder and the drive is not there.

Now 5 months later is states that I need to validate. I guess whatever was running on my system was temporary. Windows Update downloaded Vista sp1 and appeared to be installing it successfully. However at the end of the process the screen froze on a line showing this series of numbers: !! OXC190036 !! 4089/66075 (RESCINST.DLL)

In a couple of cases, though, whenever I run the program (whether from the Start menu or by double-clicking a data file), Vista posts a message: "An unidentified program wants to access your computer." It gives the options "Cancel" and "Allow". Well, obviously I want to allow the program; I've just started it! And the programs were installed through a normal installation process. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling those specific programs, but I get the same results. How can I tell Vista to stop asking me and just allow it?

except one (KB937287 failed) and then rebooted, but now KB937287 keeps

So I just bought my 2nd Evga 8800gt card Superclocked Edition. I tried running SLI with it and when I enable SLI, I'm only getting 10 fps on 3dmark06. When I disable SLI, I'm getting a much higher fps running just 1 card. Is it some bug with Vista x64? Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I've tried everything from reinstalling the drivers to reinstalling the cards themselves. Both cards show up in my device manager and both are bridged. I can't figure out why this is happening.

My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game.
