Windows Mobile Device Center Do Not Sync

Mar 23, 2008

Vista recognizes my device and I can browse the contents of my device. But it won't sync - When I try to sync it says "There is a problem with your connections. Please disconnect and reconnect your device and try again". I have done that many times in addition to reinstalling the Device Center and rebooting. my ipaq is "ancient" by today's standards - it's OS is Windows CE 4.2 but there is a sticker on it that says Pocket PC 2003 Prem. w/ Outlook 2002 and a serial .

Windows Mobile Device Center Will Not Launch (BIG PROBLEM)

Mar 23, 2008

WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center) will not even open up for me.

I double click the icon in the control panel and nothing! I even tried to install the update and still nothing! Vista is crumbling away at my feet. I am having multiple problems and they are ALL Vista related not hardware, anti-virus related, or firewall related. I have a t-mobile wing. It used to sync up fine. But one day WMDC stopped working.

I tried to restore back to a previous restore point and Vista won't let me go back to ANY previous point. Windows Media Center won't let me play live TV either.I have NO more days left on my Vista support. I consider myself an advanced user and NOTHING I've tried has worked.

Window Mobile Device Center Does Not Open

Apr 25, 2008

I have Windows Vista and when I connect my Hp2795b PDA to the cradle Window Mobile Device Center does not open. I installed the WMDC 6.1 and it still does not open. When I go to the start menu it is not listed there. When I go to the Add/remove programs in the control panel it is not listed there. If I go to WindowsMobile folder in the Windows folder there is a wmdSync.exe that when opened does not open an interface. It does show up in the task manager but only when I manually execute it from the folder that it is in. When I go to the Control Panel there is an Icon for WMDC that when opened pops up a box that asks me to allow USB connections and even says "Device Connected". When I click ok nothing further happens. I can view the device and what is on it in Windows Explorer. But since the
WMDC will not open, I am unable to sync anything.

Then told me to go to C:windowsMobile center and run setup from here. I did what it told me, but I can't get it to install. After this failure installation, I saw Windows Mobile Device Center from Start Program. I cliked on it, and it tried to install the WMDC again, then gave me the same error message. I spend hours and hours to google, but I can't find solution.

Recently a message box has been popping up randomly (even when no programs are open) which is titled: "Microsoft sync center has stopped working" and reads: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close Program". How can I stop this annoyance?.

Remove Sync Center Logo From Offline Files

Feb 20, 2007

Microsoft has spent a lot of work on updating Offline Files in Windows Vista with the new Sync Center. For those of you that do not know or use Offline Files, they are simply a local replica of a file that is on a network share.  These replicas allow you to work on files you have set to be available offline even if you are not connected to say your corporate network or home server. You can manage all of the offline file settings in one place, the Sync Center.

The only problem I have with the new offline files is the massive green icon that is appended on top of any file that is setup to sync as an offline file. This provides a nice visual clue but often blocks a big portion or almost the entire icon depending on your explorer view.  This is unnecessary and since you can manage your offline file from the new Sync Center, it is no longer really needed to find out what files are setup to be synced.

Follow these steps to disable the offline files logo from appearing on your files:

Click on the Start Menu, key in regedit and hit Enter........

Improve Sync Performance In ITunes For Windows

Aug 23, 2010

On my PC the longest part of the sync process in iTunes with my iPhone or iPad is the device backup. Taking up to an hour at times I can live without a backup. Especially since I jailbreak my devices which makes ever restoring a backup after an OS upgrade a bad idea.

There are two methods to disable the device backup feature. First, I'm going to show you the manual tweak....

Is My New LaCie 320 GB Mobile Disk ... Deceased?

Nov 11, 2009

This is my brand new LaCie 320GB Hi-Speed USB2.0 Mobile Disk, which in the present circumstances, is neither hi-speed, nor anything else for that matter, other than an expensive, minimalist Paper-weight;

When I first plugged the unit into a USB port, everything went swimmingly. Auto-play popped up, and the Installation Wizard appeared even before I had a chance to rub the unit, and all went well with the setup until it came time to format the disk.

It is at this point that I became responsible for causing all the problems that I now have with the disk. Too late, I noted that instead of doing a Quick Format, as Mr. Wizard had instructed, I had hit the Full Format instead.

Well, the unit took off faster than Valentino Rossi from the front Grid, as it began to wink, blink and nod at a furious pace, on and on and on. For an hour and a half the poor thing raced like fury until I lost patience with the litte fellow and tried to abort the futile mission.

I tried to Safely Remove Hardware by right clicking the USB icon in my Notification Tray, but naturally Windows would not allow that because the hardware was still in use. This is the description of the Disk as it was running, while I unsuccessfully tried to stop it;

OK. I thought, 'Let's try a hard removal' and I pulled the USB on the disk. A few minutes later, I plugged the unit back in.....nothing, no Auto-play, no Mr. Wizard! So it was off to Start>Computer>Right click on (F) - Drive.... [with the MFC Name???], for this to happen;

So it's click on Format Disk button, and hopefully we're in business;

...and then, with Quick Format checked, I hit the Start button, and the !Warning! fires up;

That's OK, so I hit the OK button. But it's not OK...lots of "Dang!" sounds from the Laptop tell me that all is not well, and then as if by magic, up pops this delightful message, much like an invitation to a Funeral;

So it was back to the (F) - Drive to attempt to rename it and give it all another go. But wouldn't you know it? I need to format it first. See! A prime example of "Catch 22".

So while I'm considering the next move, insult is added to injury when this little number appears;

That's that then, and out comes the USB Plug again, because I still can't Safely Remove Hardware.

Where to now? Is there any hope to restore this reprobate disk to anything that is likely to function as it should? Or is it now just a candidate for disposal on eBay? Maybe I'll put it out of it's misery, and then bury it!

Ipod Doesn't Sync With , But Does With XP

Mar 23, 2008

I am using a Medion laptop, model MIM 2210, with Vista Home Basic. I have installed the latest version of iTunes, version 7.5.

When I connect my iPod to my computer, it brings up a message in iTunes saying, "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."

I have tried both of these solutions several times, and keep getting the same message. I called Apple and they told me to try it on a different computer, so I tried it on my work laptop, which has XP and it syncs with the iPod without a problem.

I have seen on the Vista blog about a problem involving ejecting the device corrupting the iPod, but I do not have that issue.

Can't Get Hot Sync To Work Properly

Jan 27, 2008

I bought a Tungtsen E2 Palmone a couple of years ago and it worked just fine with Windows XP. I didn't do anything major with it other than transfer information (contacts & calender) back and forth using HotSync. However, I recently purchased a new Acer computer with Windows Vista - Home Premium (64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+) with 1.75 GB RAM; System type: 32-bit Operating System. I knew the old installation CD wouldn't be compatible with Vista, so I downloaded PalmdesktopWin62.zip from the support page at Palmone.com which claims to be the driver to get my palm to work with Vista.

My problem is that I can't seem to get Hot Sync to work properly. Hot Sync begins, but then gets interrupted by a prompt message "create a new account for this PC". If I click "cancel", it shuts down. If I click "yes", then it asks me to put in a password. I don't have a password, nor was I ever given one. I didn't need to use a password while using XP, and I certainly never assigned a password to my Palm.

How Do I Sync The Contacts On My Desktop PC With My Notebook Via Wi-Fi ?

Mar 23, 2008

I know this question has been asked a thousand time, but I can't find the answer with Google - sorry :-) I am running WLM version 12.0.1606 on BOTH my desktop PC and my notebook PC. My notebook and desktop are on a Wi-Fi - so they can Share files. I want my Windows Live Contact list to be the SAME on both the desktop PC and the notebook PC at all times. When I add, delete, or modify a contact on either PC, then I want that same modification to be AUTOMATICALLY (and instantly) reflected in the contact list on the other PC. They are connected via Wi-Fi, so it sounds like a simple task - but I can't find a link that explains how to set it up.

Windows Cannot Access The Specified Device, Path,

I tried to install CoD4 just now but when i put the disk in and clicked install nothing happened, just like when i try and launch medieval 2 from the disk (i only get the message when i use the shortcut). Unknown USB Device Without Any Device Plugged

I'm having a curious problem: Yesterday I plugged into the machine the dongle of my wireless logitech mouse, and for some reason the machine said "Your unknown device is ready to use" (my OS is in spanish, the messages may not be accurately translated). Since then, an annoying message pops every few seconds warning about an "unrecognized USB device", that "didn't work as expected". The best part is this, if I click on the tray icon, sometimes the informative dialog window is emply, an other times shows all the USB ports in the system plus one extra with a "unknown UBS device", even without any device plugged into the system. I've tryed removing the unknown device from the device manager, but it shows up again.

How does WMC know what service he has since it doesn't know where he's at?
