On my Dell Studio 1535 I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit. Recently a message box has been popping up randomly (even when no programs are open) which is titled: "Microsoft sync center has stopped working" and reads: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close Program". How can I stop this annoyance?.

It was 1:42PM when I plugged in my tablet (Atlantic Standard Time.) I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x64. For applications, I only installed Firefox 3.1 beta 2, and for Windows Updates the last time that I installed any (major) updates was February 27th, 2009, and I don't believe that I've plugged my tablet in after that until the 3rd.

For those of you that do not know or use Offline Files, they are simply a local replica of a file that is on a network share. These replicas allow you to work on files you have set to be available offline even if you are not connected to say your corporate network or home server. You can manage all of the offline file settings in one place, the Sync Center.
The only problem I have with the new offline files is the massive green icon that is appended on top of any file that is setup to sync as an offline file. This provides a nice visual clue but often blocks a big portion or almost the entire icon depending on your explorer view. This is unnecessary and since you can manage your offline file from the new Sync Center, it is no longer really needed to find out what files are setup to be synced.
Follow these steps to disable the offline files logo from appearing on your files:
Click on the Start Menu, key in regedit and hit Enter........
I have vista home premium 32bit and i have been recently getting error messages like the following: "the program has stopped working". Microsoft office 2007 was working for about couple of weeks when i installed it, but later on, it started not to work. I tried the repair function, reinstalling it, manually deleting the files and reinstalling it afterwards. I have also tried installing service pack 1 RTM to see if it will fix the problem. But so far, nothing works. Will the offical service pack fix this problem?

All of a sudden some of my programs stopped working, for example catalyst control center is supposed to start as soon as vista starts, but now it gives me an error like:

Same with some others...
Yes i ran AVG, i ran malware, and superantispyware, none of them finds anything.
I cant even load daemon tools now, it gives me some error: "Engine loading was failed", cant uninstall it, it gives me another error, and some of the programs like netlimiter if i start them from my objectdock dock they automaticly stop working, only when i start them from the normal .exe they dont crash.
I bought an xbox360 about a month ago. After hooking it up, I noticed my new PC in my home office (Vista Ultimate 64bit) had an installer pop up on the screen and walked me thru installing Media Center, etc, etc - so that I can now view pics, tunes, and movies that are on my PC, right on my 50" plasma in the threater room....I was psyched. waayy cool, right? Fast forward to a couple days ago. I came down to the theatre room to find my 8yr old daughter and 10 year old friend watching "Aliens" streaming thru my xbox from my PC that they were pulling thru over Media Center....Totally Unsuitable !!
I spent the remainder of that evening trying to move my adult content to another folder outside My Documents, xbox still found it. I then made sure the folder was not shared, and had no access for anyone but me (security tab), xbox still found it. I then tried moving the content to an ancillary sata HD inside the box and followed all the steps, my xbox still found it. I moved it then to an external USB drive and xbox still found it....Does anyone have any idea how I can specifically determine EXACTLY which folders on my PC can be accessed by Extender/MediaCenter/Xbox? Or conversley, can anyone tell me how I can specifically protect some folders from ever being accessed by Extender/MediaCenter/Xbox? This is a cool app, I didn't even know it existed until after I bought my xbox360 - but was immediatly wayyy sold on it...But I simply must be able to control the content that my kids have access to.
So I look for Media Center to play my NBC Nightly News, and all of a sudden, it's not there anymore. My Vista x64 installation works rock solid, and I couldn't be happier, but where, oh where, is my Media Center?? I don't remember uninstalling it, but I'm not aware of a way to even do that!??? Is there any way to restore it, or maybe to download it from somewhere and re-install just that. I don't want to re-install Vista from my DVD, I really don't. It's humming a lot just great. Maybe I acidentally "hid it". I know my thoughts sounds funny, or crazy even. I just can't explain it to myself how a core component of Vista Ultimate can disappear like that.

The wireless is detected and seems to work fine, but when I go to Control Panel>Network & Sharing, the screen opens, but none of the links are ever clickable. and the screen will not respond to the minimize (-) or close (X) buttons. I am logged in to an account with admin rights, and never get a prompt asking for elevation when the network & sharing screen opens.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently uninstalled hp solution center 13.0 because it wasn't working right. The message saying my "scanner is unavailable" to fax please try again is annoying. My laptop is networked and everything else works fine. The scanner works fine in any other request.
On another note. if you've recently wanted to uninstall and reinstall solution center and are finding it hard to find the software online to reinstall, you'll most likely need to use the printer cd. (If you still have it of course). Then you can go to the hp website and download the update to 13.0 and hope it works better....
I have an HP m9000t desktop that is running on vista home premium service pack 1. Ever since I got this PC my TV tuner has not been working properly. I have a ATSC-NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner installed. So basically this is my issue. I purchased a 4 prong splitter to split my cable input to my pc and cable box. My provider is time warner cable. After setting up my TV Signal in Windows Media Center it seems to be setup correctly until I try to watch live TV. The channels are all messed up. It seems like I only have about 20 channels, some are local channels and some are cable channels but nothing matches correctly.
I also tried connecting my cable out from my cable box directly into my PC. This works better than a direct connection from the splitter but it only shows what I am watching on my cable box, so if i change the channel on my cable box it changes on my pc. And if I change the cannel on my PC everything is scrambled, so it has to be on chan 3. Can this just be an issue with my provider? Do I need a "setup box"? If so how much are they and will it definiely solve my issue?
My laptop froze during a shutdown process and I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button down. Since then my USB hub seems to have stopped working; anything plugged into it doesn't even turn up on the computer even though all the lights on them are on (indicating they are receiving power at the very least). How can I fix this?

After a few weeks of using Vista and WMP 11, I learned through these forums that there is a 64-bit version of WMP 11, so I tried it by running the "wmplayer.exe" file in the Program Files directory (not Program Files x86). After a few seconds, I got the dreaded "Windows Media Player has stopped working" error message, along with a prompt to close the program - no additional useful information was provided. After uninstalling any and all codecs, using the SFC utility, using a registry cleaner, and any other suggestion I could find, WMP x64 still would not work for me.
So, I performed a clean install of VISTA HPx64. And, lo and behold, the first time I double-clicked wmplayer.exe in the Program Files directory, it worked! I tried it a few more times and it was still working, so I quickly downloaded the 64-bit Vista Codec package, and used the utilities in the package for switching the default player and registry entries to 64-bit. When I tried to run WMP, I once again got the "Windows Media Player has stopped working" message. I uninstalled the Vista Codecs package, restarted the computer, and still it would not work. I reran the SFC utility, and no corrupt files were found. Curiously, the first time I ran the 32-bit WMP, I was shown a dialog box for choosing options and doing initial set-up; when I ran the 64-bit WMP for the first time, I was given no such set-up opportunity.......
I installed the software & followed the installation instructions (I thought), but the wireless mouse & receiver (which the system reports is working normally) doesn't seem to do anything.
