The Standard VGA Graphics Adapter Fail But The Video Controller Succeed But With Error "Incompatable Display Adapter Has Been Disabled"
Nov 29, 2008I got a Nvidia 8400GS When i got the PC but brought a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 / 1GB / PCI Express 2.0 / Graphics Card. My brother took out the Nvid card and then formated the PC to make sure that all drivers where uninstalled then put the ATI card in. In divice manager under dispaly adapters there is standard VGA Graphics Adapter and further down the page there is "Other Divices" with Video controller. When it installs these some times the standard VGA Graphics Adapter fail but the video controller succeed but with error. saying. "Incompatable display Adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter". lso i carnt change the resolution above 1024X768. Also my Graphic card is a Sapphier brand but in the windows update its looking for ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ASUS EAH3870X2 Series

Dec 30, 2007Setup: New Vista PC (bargain-rack special - a bare-bones office machine with Vista Home Basic) has a built-in VGA adapter. I want to do the two-monitor setup, so I plugged in my ATI video card as the second video driver. Problem: When I boot the machine, I get the following error: Incompatible display adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter.
What I find odd, though perhaps it is not odd to you, is that the internal driver was the one disabled - the ATI card is now defaulted as the main (and only enabled) driver. In Control Panel, it does not say that the drivers or controllers are disabled, but instead that there are problems. Clicking on Troubleshoot does nothing at all.
Display Adapter Not Showing In Device Manager
Mar 23, 2009I just bought an EVGA nForce 730i mobo with onboard GeForce 9300 graphics card. I installed vista ultimate 32 bit and the first thing I did was install all the drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard. For some reason I can't find my display adapter in my device manager list and I don't think the driver from the mobo disk is installing properly but I can't check that because I don't see the adapter in the device manager list. Any idea on how I can fix this?

My bluetooth dongle adaptor is a BCM2045 and it comes with a software called Blusoleil, but I didn't want to install 3rd party software to control my bluetooth devices. When I plug it in, Windows try to find a driver but can't find it. If I install the software that came bundled (blusoleil) it works fine. But then I need to use this software to control devices. Doesn't Windows have a built in bluetooth software to control devices ?

Apr 23, 2010I added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........

May 26, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 531s and Windows Vista. Basically, my little cousins were messing with the computer monitor and whenever I boot the computer, it would have a black screen that states "Cannot Display This Video Mode, Optimum Resolution 1440 x 900 60 Hz. I tried googling up solutions and many of them said to go into safe mode and change the properties. However, I tried that and it didn't work. After I entered safe mode, it would still show the black screen that says "Cannot Display This Video Mode". So I don't know how I can select the properties or anything like that.

Jun 29, 2008I have seen postings with computers with 4GB where vista cannot see all the ram. I have a computer and recently upgraded to 4GB from 2GB. I already have a nvidia 8600GT video card. I dont get any display and sometimes the display comes and it shows 4GB RAM but lasts for 5mts before the monitor shuts down to no display. Any ideas how to fix this problem so I can get at least the display ? I dont mind reduced RAM since I am hoping to move to 64 bit if I can find all the drivers I need.

I set my 2nd monitor (i.e. not the laptop screen) as my main monitor, however, after every restart Vista always reverts back to the Laptop as the main monitor. Jun 21, 2008I have a problem with the the capture of my video into Windows Movie Maker. I have now recaptured the video again after ensuring that all othe programmes on the computer are disabled, however the problem still persists. During the actual capture process the video runs at normal speed and there are no fluctuations in the speed during that process. I do notice that the capture display on the computer tends to stop and start from time to time, but I believe this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Once the capture is complete and I play back scenes from my capture, then the speed of the playback varies all the time, sometimes running faster than original capture and again slower at other times. I am sure that I have read somewhere that this is not abnormal during the video editing phase. However the problem arises in that once you publish the video these speed variations are written into the published video and subsequently transfered to the DVD.
No Video Output With Dual Monitors
Mar 30, 2008I have a Nvidia 7800 which i recently hooked up another monitor too(dual dvi) I now have no video from media player, quicktime, etc.. Only web based video works(which is weird because the web based video is running wmp. When i unplug monitor 2 the video works fine again, after a reboot and the like of course. Anyone know wuts going on here? Sound and everything else works fine, its just showing a black screen on the players.

Jun 16, 2009I'm running legit copies of Halo 2 and Assassin's Creed, and they tend to crash my display driver/video card at any random old time. Usually around 5 minutes in. Less for AC. I know it's the display driver or video card or whatever because the game freezes with red squiggly lines all over the place, then the monitor says no input detected. The computer, however, is still running. I have Vista Ultimate 32bit, and an EVGA 8800GT. I can post more info if necessary. All my drivers are up to date and I disabled my onboard graphics in my bios so that only PCIE is outputting.

Dual Monitor Setup Video Card
Oct 2, 2008I have a HP Pavilion computer that has the video card built into the motherboard, I want to run dual monitors on the computer. Can I using the existing video card setup and get another video card to run the second monitor, or do I need to get a dual monitor video card? Or is there any other options for a dual monitor setup. This computer is not for high speed graphics. No gaming on this system. Just need to know the best way to approach this situation or what you would recommend.

Feb 9, 2009I have a issue with my Linksys wireless USB adapter. I am trying to use it with Vista Home Premium. After installing software... I plug the adapter in (like directions say) and windows update goes to work. It updates the driver, installs correctly, I then connect to my home network and all is good. My prob is for some reason I lose internet and the USB adapter itself. One time I switched users and lost all. I have tried uninstalling adapter and tried reinstalling by pointing to my D drive (install CD) in hopes of using the driver that's on the installation CD. as soon as it saw everything.. windows update once again gave me the same buggy driver. I have tried to install with UAC disabled... no luck... the Linksys website/support for drivers has the same updated driver. I tried to use an older one but Windows keeps forcing this updated one down my

Local Area Connection In Vista:Network Adapter Disappeared
Mar 23, 2008I started to have problems with Local Area Connection in Vista, during logon there was two networks identified, one that I had set up and one unrecognized. This was a problem, because it disrupted the DHCP discovery. I have read here that many have the same problem, but so far haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. My solution was to try to disable the network connection and enable it. This seemed to work sometimes, but once I rebooted the machine, the whole network adapter had disappeared from device manager. I tried re-installing the driver but Vista doesn't seem to recognize it. How do I get Vista to install it back?

Feb 20, 2010I recently had to reinstall Vista after a HD failure. Almost everything is working as expected. I do have tasks that I want to have run for long periods of time (usually overnight). I have set my power options to "never turn off display" and "never sleep". Screensaver is set to "none"
This works for shorter periods of time, but when I leave the PC overnight, I come back and my monitor indicates that it is getting no signal. The PC power lights are still on, but nothing I do turns the monitor feed back on (keyboard and mouse input have no visible effect). This is not a monitor sleep issue, I have confirmed that it is not recieving signal from the PC.
I've tested this even when my tasks are not running, so I know it isn't related to that. Also, I didn't have this problem before the reinstall. I'm concerned because the only solution is to cold boot, and that would be bad if the PC happens to be in the middle of a task, or a windows update or something. Other than the power settings and screen saver, what else should I be checking in Vista that might create (or prevent) this type of behavior?
Know What Hardware Motherboard Supports
Apr 22, 2009I have a laptop and desktop, but the desktop is five or so years old. I need a new one, and retail is too expensive, but if a built one is even more expensive, I don't care - I make it and can upgrade it. How do I know what hardware my motherboard supports? I have seen computer cases with a component at the front that shows the stats (CPU Usage, RAM Usage, Hard Drive Usage, and a lot more) Is it part of the case? If not, where can I get it? What is it? Where would I go about getting RAM with LED's? Thats all for now, but I could add more later.
