How To Get The Image To Be The Full Size Of The TV Display
Mar 23, 2008I have a Vizio 37" LCD TV. I have it connected to the VGA port of my Gateway Laptop running Windows Vista. The TV manual says the optimal resolution for the TV is 1366 x 768 at 60 hz. It is a 780p TV. No matter what resolution I choose in Vista the picture on the TV never fully fills the screen. At 1024x768 it fills the height of the TV, but has black borders along the edges. If I choose 1280x800 or 1280x768 then it has a thick black border around all edges of the display. I searched for monitor drivers and tried several generic monitor drivers. Nothing seems to work. how to get the image to be the full size of the TV display.

I have tried making a DATA DVD with the video_ts file, but that won't play on a regular DVD player. How do I make a VIDEO DVD using the full VIDEO_TS file instead of just a DATA dvd?

May 26, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 531s and Windows Vista. Basically, my little cousins were messing with the computer monitor and whenever I boot the computer, it would have a black screen that states "Cannot Display This Video Mode, Optimum Resolution 1440 x 900 60 Hz. I tried googling up solutions and many of them said to go into safe mode and change the properties. However, I tried that and it didn't work. After I entered safe mode, it would still show the black screen that says "Cannot Display This Video Mode". So I don't know how I can select the properties or anything like that.

Jun 29, 2008I have seen postings with computers with 4GB where vista cannot see all the ram. I have a computer and recently upgraded to 4GB from 2GB. I already have a nvidia 8600GT video card. I dont get any display and sometimes the display comes and it shows 4GB RAM but lasts for 5mts before the monitor shuts down to no display. Any ideas how to fix this problem so I can get at least the display ? I dont mind reduced RAM since I am hoping to move to 64 bit if I can find all the drivers I need.

Jun 21, 2008I have a problem with the the capture of my video into Windows Movie Maker. I have now recaptured the video again after ensuring that all othe programmes on the computer are disabled, however the problem still persists. During the actual capture process the video runs at normal speed and there are no fluctuations in the speed during that process. I do notice that the capture display on the computer tends to stop and start from time to time, but I believe this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Once the capture is complete and I play back scenes from my capture, then the speed of the playback varies all the time, sometimes running faster than original capture and again slower at other times. I am sure that I have read somewhere that this is not abnormal during the video editing phase. However the problem arises in that once you publish the video these speed variations are written into the published video and subsequently transfered to the DVD.
Display Driver/video Card Not Working
Jun 16, 2009I'm running legit copies of Halo 2 and Assassin's Creed, and they tend to crash my display driver/video card at any random old time. Usually around 5 minutes in. Less for AC. I know it's the display driver or video card or whatever because the game freezes with red squiggly lines all over the place, then the monitor says no input detected. The computer, however, is still running. I have Vista Ultimate 32bit, and an EVGA 8800GT. I can post more info if necessary. All my drivers are up to date and I disabled my onboard graphics in my bios so that only PCIE is outputting.

Jun 7, 2008On vista though you can't run dos in full screen So I really wanted to load a version of Windows 98 on to a new partition on my new computer. I created a new partition and a windows 98 startup cd and re started the computer. I ran fdisk and set the new partition active and attempted to load Win98. For some reason unknown to me 98 wouldn't install properly so I gave up. I restarted and deleted the partition through fdisk. I then set the Vista partiton active and now the computer won't load vista at all, only a black screen with a flashing cursor.

Mar 2, 2009After completing a system recovery, I am unable to get a sharp full screen picture any more. I have a 20" lcd and the best I can do is about 8" before it starts to pixilate.
To get widescreen I have to zoom and that makes it even worse. I have an nvidia geforce 6150se card, and the tv card is a haupauge wintv hvr-1600, vista home premium ,computer is an HP pavilion m8000n.
I have downloaded all updates I can find but to no avail. The sample movies that come with media will not play any better. Can someone help. Miss my pc/vcr.
Full Screen Applications
Jun 6, 2009Any application like a game or a presentation wont use the entire monitor! It centers itself into a square and leaves a huge gap on each side. I cant take a screenshot so I will try to draw an example. Imagine the white is the application and the picture is my entire monitor. I dont know what else to do. I've updated the drivers and nothing seems to work! It's a HP Compaq 6710b, I haven't changed any display hardware. I've changed the RAM that's it.

No Full Screen On HDMI To TV
May 20, 2008I do not get the full screen output on my TV when connected via HDMI. This is very frustrating. The TV itself works fine in full screen (1080p, 720p, 480p, etc). I DO get full screen output on any Linux o/s I test it with, via hdmi. However, I prefer to use Vista instead in order to use MCE and the plugins I have (Netflix, Joost, etc plus MCE remote). I duplicatedt this before and after upgrading to Vista SP1. I've duplicated this with many WHQL certified NVidia drivers as well. Literally at least 5-10 different driver versions for my 8400M GT card.
I cannot figure out why it is not showing full screen output, but I can confirm this happens in Vista only, not Linux (did not and will not test in XP). My index score in Vista is 5.0. It was actually 5.3 at one time, then dropped to 5.1 and 5.0 over few months span...........

Apr 2, 2009I’m running Vista x64 with a 24” wide screen HD monitor with 1920x1200 native resolution. (Check my System Specs for all my hardware.) However, I can only get full screen with 1280x720. Any higher and my screen shifts to the left and I lose about 1/3 to ½ of my available viewing area. Anything on the left side of my task bar is gone, including the Windows (start) button. If I go to my native 1920x1200 res the text is so small it’s virtually unreadable (along, again, with losing a third of my viewing area). What’s the purpose of having this monitor if I can’t get it to display the full screen with readable text? I’m guessing I must be doing something wrong.

Mar 16, 2010I programs, mainly my games, my full screen games, keep minimizing at random. Espically the sims 2. It hasn't ever happened before. I would start the game then the title front page would come up then it would disappear but my machine would still run as if it were there. It would never come up. My online mmorpg will continously minimize. I will click on them but they only maximize for a few seconds before minimizing again. I've tried everything i know: Running full scans on my computer with nothing showing up, getting rid of mulitiple virus protections. Ending some start up programs. Udating various thing. It's not a virus and it's not malware. I just don't know what it is anymore. I've tried googling the problem and seeing if i could find an answer that would help, it didn't. I have tried a tool made by microsoft to see if it could find the problem, it found nothing at all wrong with it. I don't know what else to do. It's never done it before. I heard that an eariler version of AVG (my virus protection) could cause it, but i uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version.
