Display Driver/video Card Not Working

Jun 16, 2009

I'm running legit copies of Halo 2 and Assassin's Creed, and they tend to crash my display driver/video card at any random old time. Usually around 5 minutes in. Less for AC. I know it's the display driver or video card or whatever because the game freezes with red squiggly lines all over the place, then the monitor says no input detected. The computer, however, is still running. I have Vista Ultimate 32bit, and an EVGA 8800GT. I can post more info if necessary. All my drivers are up to date and I disabled my onboard graphics in my bios so that only PCIE is outputting.

NVIDIA Ge Force Go 7900 GS: "Display Driver Stopped Working And Has Recovered"

Oct 7, 2009

Ever since I did a Windows update back in July, my video card has been acting up. While I'm using the computer the image on the screen starts breaking up, then I get a black screen. I have to force the computer for a shut down. After so many re starts I get a message saying "Display Driver Stopped working and has recovered.

I can use the computer for a little while, and then I get the same problem again. I took my computer to fix when I started experiencing this problem. All they did was clean the fan they said the video cards was good. I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9339 bought in June 2007. Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 4 GB Ram 32 bit Internet Explorer 7. I know a few people here had the same problem. Did someone found the fix for it?

Scrambled Display NVidia

Mar 23, 2008

I am having a problem with a scrambled display in Vista. Here's what's happening: If the computer has been idle long enough for the display to go into standby mode, once it is reawakened, everything seems normal. That is, until you do something that requires UAC, or a 3D game. When the UAC screen dimms, the screen becomes totally scrambled. The same if you start a 3D game like Doom. There is no clearing the display - the computer has to be rebooted.

Interestingly, if after the computer wakes from standby I log off, then log back on, the system performs properly, with no screen scrambling. The system is an Athlon X2 6000, nVidia 7900GT, Vista Ultimate (32-bit) with all the updates and patches. I have installed the nVidia 169.25 drivers, though this problem has existed with all the previous drivers.

Update Nvidia Display Can't Be Accessed

Mar 24, 2010

This morning Windows Update informed me of an update for the nVidia GeForce Go 6150 Display. However, when I tried to get more information on it, I was sent to Winqual Help Unfortunately, to get to any link inside Winqual Help one need a digital certificate, which is available for $49. It seems an inappropriate for MS to place explanations in an area that cannot be accessed by all valid owners of a Windows OS. Such explanations should be moved back to the traditional pages where they can be accessed by all.

Nvidia Video Card Not Installed

I have a logitech mx610 laser mouse that I have used with my vaio laptop with windows XP and never had any problems. This summer I bought a HP 4830f desktop computer that has Intel quad core 2.4Ghz, 4Gb of ram, nvidia geforce 8500 GT video card with vista x64, and I usually always have some type of mouse lag, it is especially really bad when anything is downloading.

Nvidia 7300gs Video Card Causing Freeze

Mar 30, 2008

When I have my display adapter (nvidia 7300 gs) enabled as normal, Vitsa freezes at a random time. It occurs more frequently when running video files, but can happen with no applications open. When I disable this display adapter and run on the on-board one, the problem does not occur, but then I cannot run anything that needs direct x. I think the issue is due to the driver for the nvidia 7300 gs. I have rolled back the driver, but this has not helped. And I downlaoded the latest driver from nvidia's website, but this has not helped. Through device manager, I have unistalled and re-installed the nvidia 7300 gs.

Cannot Display Video Mode

May 26, 2009

I have a Dell Inspiron 531s and Windows Vista. Basically, my little cousins were messing with the computer monitor and whenever I boot the computer, it would have a black screen that states "Cannot Display This Video Mode, Optimum Resolution 1440 x 900 60 Hz. I tried googling up solutions and many of them said to go into safe mode and change the properties. However, I tried that and it didn't work. After I entered safe mode, it would still show the black screen that says "Cannot Display This Video Mode". So I don't know how I can select the properties or anything like that.

I dont get any display and sometimes the display comes and it shows 4GB RAM but lasts for 5mts before the monitor shuts down to no display. Any ideas how to fix this problem so I can get at least the display ? I dont mind reduced RAM since I am hoping to move to 64 bit if I can find all the drivers I need.

Video Capture Display Stop

Jun 21, 2008

I have a problem with the the capture of my video into Windows Movie Maker. I have now recaptured the video again after ensuring that all othe programmes on the computer are disabled, however the problem still persists. During the actual capture process the video runs at normal speed and there are no fluctuations in the speed during that process. I do notice that the capture display on the computer tends to stop and start from time to time, but I believe this is normal and does not indicate a problem.

Once the capture is complete and I play back scenes from my capture, then the speed of the playback varies all the time, sometimes running faster than original capture and again slower at other times. I am sure that I have read somewhere that this is not abnormal during the video editing phase. However the problem arises in that once you publish the video these speed variations are written into the published video and subsequently transfered to the DVD.

NVIDIA GForce 6 GO 6600 For Qosmio G25 AV513 Laptop, Windows Identifies Video Card As A Standard VGA

Mar 23, 2008

I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium and the system operates faster than with my previous set-up with XP. After updating some of my drivers from Windows update, I am satified with VISTA so far except that I noticed that Windows identifies my video card as a standard VGA. When I down loaded the Nvidia driver from Toshiba (QG20disp-7882), it seemed to install and operate correctly however Internet Explorer would not start after the installation. I tried several times with the same results. To get the internet working again I had to Restore the sytem to the previous standard VGA set up. This standard VGA set-up limits the ability to see videos with Media Center. Has anyone run into this problem and how can I solve it. Incidentaly the
NVIDIA card has 128 MB dedicated memory so it should be able to run AERO but it is not available.

NVIDIA 6200 Geforce "Display Driver Has Stopped Responding And Has Recovered"

Feb 12, 2010

i just joined this forum in hopes of finding an answer to my problem, i have also searched the posts relating to my problem. A few days ago my pc was dropped of a stand with the monitor and everything connected. The onboard gfx does not work anymore (nVIDIA 6100 Geforce 405) and the plug is loose so i installed a nVIDIA 6200 Geforce PCI card, everything is fine till i go to run a high graphics game like WoW or SecondLife.

They work for a few seconds then the screen gets all messed up then goes off and back on, then a Hazard Sign in the System Tray pops up that says "Display Driver has stopped responding and has Recovered". Now i know enough to solve certain issues but this has me stumped, i've updated my drivers, even lowered the resolution to try to get the game to work but it does the same thing, now ive had this card in before a few months back, worked fine, then i took it out and went back to the onboard gfx. now the PCI card is giving me issues.

Nvidia Not Working

I have Vista Home Premium SP2...Core i7 at 2.67, 6 GB ram, Nvidia GTX 285 at 1 GB...computer is perfectly capable of running transparencies on the windows...I was clicking around in the "Performance Information And Tools" > "Advanced Tools" section (I'm new to Vista and am trying to get acclimated...I felt a lot more confident on XP than I do on here), and there was a clickable link that said "Performance can be improved by changing visual settings. View details." I clicked it, and a dialogue box popped up with three options to click, and no way to close the dialogue box without selecting one (no "x" in the upper right)...there was "help", "remove from list", and "ok". I clicked "ok", and now transparencies are gone...and further, when I right-click the desktop, and go to "personalize", and then into "window color and appearance", the settings to adjust the transparencies and the vista themes are gone...its just the old, XP-looking dialogue box with selectable color schemes......

NVidia Control Panel Stopped Working In Vista 64

Jun 16, 2009

I have a dual boot system with Win XP on one partition and Vista 64 Ultimate on the second partition. Sometime recently, perhaps at the latest Windows Update on Vista, my nVidia Control Panel stopped working in Vista 64. I am using nVidia driver 185.85, the latest non-beta version available. I am using nVidia system tools 6.05, the latest set available. I have cleaned out my drivers with Driver Sweeper, and reloaded them with no change. I have loaded the drivers with all virus software shut down, with all unnecessary apps shut down. When I try to start up the nVidia control panel, whether in the Windows Control Panel or other shortcut, Vista tells me that "nVidia Control Panel has stopped working". I am getting the impression that the nVidia drivers are not running, since when I add them they are not defaulting to max resolution like they normally do. The system seems to be running on some default video driver instead. CPU, GPU, MCP temperatures are nominal, no indications of problems there.......

No Video, "never Turn Off Display"

Feb 20, 2010

I recently had to reinstall Vista after a HD failure. Almost everything is working as expected. I do have tasks that I want to have run for long periods of time (usually overnight). I have set my power options to "never turn off display" and "never sleep". Screensaver is set to "none"

This works for shorter periods of time, but when I leave the PC overnight, I come back and my monitor indicates that it is getting no signal. The PC power lights are still on, but nothing I do turns the monitor feed back on (keyboard and mouse input have no visible effect). This is not a monitor sleep issue, I have confirmed that it is not recieving signal from the PC.

I've tested this even when my tasks are not running, so I know it isn't related to that. Also, I didn't have this problem before the reinstall. I'm concerned because the only solution is to cold boot, and that would be bad if the PC happens to be in the middle of a task, or a windows update or something. Other than the power settings and screen saver, what else should I be checking in Vista that might create (or prevent) this type of behavior?

Started Computer Can Not Display Working Turned Off

Apr 24, 2008

It started two days ago. When I woke up my computer was on but there was no display. I rebooted the machine and it it came up fine but seemed to shut abnormaly. Later that day when I tried to remote control into my machine I was able to get a black screen (so the connection was established but know video.) When I got home it was the same thing: the computer was on but no video and keyboard and mouse did not work. It seemed though, after looking at the logs, that the computer was functioning because there were logs created during the time it was "off." Looking through the logs I could see nothing abrnormal. Truly I don't know what I was looking for? Anyway, in power options I turned off the feature to shut down monitor after certain time. Turned off screen saver.

The sleep mode was already off. I was connected to PC via remote control from work and machine rebooted itself. All it said in log was: The previous system shutdown at 7:30:29 PM on 4/24/2008 was unexpected. Not sure if the reboot and the aforementioned issue is related. Anyway, I am not sure why this started happening. I did install a game call Rome Univerisalus or some such name. I uninstalled the game when I started having problems. It didn't work anyway. I am using Vista 64. I just recently built the computer. Didn't experience any problems until recently. Does anyone know how I can figure out what is going on? And even better, how to fix. I am thinking of using the restore point of before I installed the game.
