May 15, 2010PC: HP Windows Media Center PC m8200n; Monitor HP w1907. November 2007. OS: Windows Vista Home Premium. HP: Deskjet F4180. So I noticed that the printer icon for my printer became all white, IE a corrupted icon. So I went online and found information on how to refresh your icon folder. That didn't do anything. So I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.
I have tried to reinstall my HP software from disc, and I get a 'new PSSWCORE.msi' file. I see the file on the install disc, yet it won't install. 'Network resource is unavailable.'
Now I cannot uninstall it. On my Add/Remove I see:
HP Customer Participation Program 9.0
HP All In One Software 9.0
HP Imaging device Functions 9.0
HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator
HP Photosmart Essential
HP Update
How can I get these off my PC, and reinstall cleanly so I can use my rinter/scanner again?
Start Menu Icon But Displays A Generic Icon
Apr 19, 2008I installed new software and pinned the executable to the start menu. But, Vista displays a generic icon in the start menu for this program. All other programs pinned to the start menu display the correct icon. Any way to get Vista to dispaly the proper icon for this program??

I know that the program is on my computer because it opens when I click on video files, but surprisingily it does not appear in the list of programs, so I can't make a shortcut icon from it. May 20, 2008Today I installed a program that will let you record any sound coming from your speakers. It's a paid program and it's a reputable program but I noticed something after the reboot. Im not sure it's related or not. When I even move my cursor over a icon on my desktop it gives that windows sounds, like a critical beep. Dec 15, 2008I really do not have a real need for the x64. I want to run games that do not require x64. Also can you turn off DX10 for DX10 games to improve performace - run them from a DX9 instead. All bells a whistles aside - I am gonna streamline this system and I don't need the added junk bogging my cycles down.
IMO XP Pro x32 would do it for me and if possible I will reformat the HD completly without voiding warranty. I really don't need it for what I want to do. It came pre-installed from Asus. There is not alot of support in gaming to warrant the DX10 or the x64 yet and this is not the best gaming laptop. I only spent $650 for the rig couldn't pass it up for that price.

Using a cool free utility called AeroBar you can restore the window titlebar title and icon. To use the utility visit Outils (http://www.psscript.net/utils.htm) and download AeroBar.exe (http://www.psscript.net/AeroBar.exe).
Install is a snap. Just copy the utility to the Start Up folder of your start menu. If you want to also show the folder icons, just rename AeroBar.exe to AeroBarIco.exe ...
