At the top of a newsgroup message that I have received there are two icons. One looks like a paper clip and the other looks like a pair of glasses. What are these for? I have the same question for reading email but for an exclamation mark, a paper clip and and what looks like a little flag? I did try using help from widows mail but couldn't find anything. I did a search for ! but search couldn't find this.

I am running vista Home Premium 32 bit and have just installed windows live mail and I love the ease of sending pictures with it. I do have a question about the toolbar though, it has no send/receive button. The WLM version says 2009 and the build is 14.0.8064.0206.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am the only user on my laptop. I accepted the Toshiba settings when I bought the machine, but I realise that there are a number of features that are disabled that (as an administrator) I should be able to use. for example:
1. Windows Defender will show me the details of start-up programs but not allow me to remove/enable/disable anything (the buttons are greyed-out/disabled).
2. There are some folders (e.g. in my internet favourites) which are read-only and when I switch read-only off, it ignores what I've done - they remain read-only.

Windows Mail is not displaying a New Mail Notification icon in the system tray. Is this an option that I just can't find? It's terrible inconvenient, since i don't usually have sound turned on I don't know when I get new mail!

I installed some Mods for Oblivion and my directional keys Uparrow and leftarrow have some how ended up with multiple functions
Uparrow is also esc, F12, b,n and Windows key
Left arrow is also F2 and PgDown
Ive tried restoring my system, deleting/reinstalling drivers, modifying the registry and even third party freeware like AutoHotkey and Keytweak but nothing works
I just want to reset them back to being up and left (i use the directional keys,numberpad, right shift and right control for all my first person shooters and have to relearn with WSAD something I dont want to have to do)
I am even considering getting another keyboard but somehow I dont think that will solve the problem. I deleted the System32 entries for my keyboard and it stopped functioning altogether. I unplugged and plugged it in again and it set up the system32 (installed generic drivers there and then ) and the keyboard functions again but my problem remains.
How can we just turn only 3 buttons of window vista: "minimize, maximize, and close" into Mac OS X style? I just would like to change ONLY 3 of them, do not need to turn the whole system into MAC.

I tried removing these folders, and restarting computer, but QL buttons still work)....................

I can get the game to work in single player, no problem, but VISTA has for some reasons erased all the buttons in the multiplayer section so I can host or join via UDP, TCP.Why does Vista remove these buttons? Is there a security option to change so they are brought back? I can still access the menu if I carefully click on the border after the padlock, but shouldn't I have the arrow?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got a laptop, I am very happy with it, but recently the taskbar has been annoying me, instead of displaying the opened program buttons (or whatever they are called, the ones that bring you to an allready opened window when you click them) on the left with a lot of room, the are displayed on the right, and only two buttons can be displayed at the same time, also, If I have two windows of the same type, the combine into a drop down (up) menu instead of seven or do being the minimum amount of same type windows before that happens.

The main button, that looks like a power button actually puts your computer to sleep, not really turning it completely off. The other button locks your computer. I personally do not like putting my computer to sleep. I would rather turn it off completely to save some power and save some money on my electric bill when I am sleeping.
Follow the steps below to customize these button to work how you want them to work:

It looks like after I was messing with the registry of my Acer Aspire 5720 I can't boot up properly :cry:.
After booting up I see the Windows Vista home premium text with Vista's
blue/green background and only two buttons. On the left is Ease of
Access and on the right is Shut Down/Restart/Sleep button.
I don't see the task bar, can't call the task manager with ctr-alt-del
no Start button, no desktop icons.
The safe mode starts fine (I'm writing this while in safe mode with networking).
I've tried repair windows option with no luck.
Startup recovery says: Could not detect a problem
System restore says: No restore points have been created
Complete PC restore: No valid backup locations could be found
When I start command prompt it starts ok with x:windowssystem32 if not little strange since I don't have an X drive . I've tried unsuccesfully to start windows explorer by going to c: and typingexplorer.exe.
This all started after I uninstalled Logmein software, or rather after I deleted all the remains of logmein in registry after I uninstalled the software.
I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, they both work in vista but I have no software for my keyboard to change functions and my mouse to change buttons. I can download intellipoint 6.2 but it will not install, I have tried all the suggestions on google searches, I just keep getting not enough disk space, well I have 425gb. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this site whose link is Given that I use it quite frequently I would like it to appear as a button on one of the toolbars but the best I could do was add it to Favorites or to the Links drop down menu which to me is no different than Favorites because you still got to go through a drop down menu. I tried resizing the Links part of the toolbar so that it would be wider so that the links on the menu would actually show up as buttons on the toolbar but I could not drag it and I don't think it's possible. Anyone know how to add a link to internet explorer as a quick always visiable one-click button whose icon is the favicon for the site?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI accidentally deleted the Mail icon from the Start Menu (Vista Ultimate x32) and a ballon came up with the steps to restore this which instantly disappeared. I run Office 2007 with Outlook as the default mail client. I did manage to create the shortcut for Outlook 2007 and drop it on the Start Menu and it works. However, on right click it does not give the three options (E-Mail Accounts; Data Files; Show Profiles) that was part of the standard options. I am able to access these options from the Control Panel (Mail) but would prefer to restore the Start Menu. I did re-install Office suite but it did not change. Is there a way to restore this back?

So I noticed that the printer icon for my printer became all white, IE a corrupted icon. So I went online and found information on how to refresh your icon folder. That didn't do anything. So I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.
I have tried to reinstall my HP software from disc, and I get a 'new PSSWCORE.msi' file. I see the file on the install disc, yet it won't install. 'Network resource is unavailable.'
Now I cannot uninstall it. On my Add/Remove I see:
HP Customer Participation Program 9.0
HP All In One Software 9.0
HP Imaging device Functions 9.0
HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator

How can I get these off my PC, and reinstall cleanly so I can use my rinter/scanner again?
I installed new software and pinned the executable to the start menu. But, Vista displays a generic icon in the start menu for this program. All other programs pinned to the start menu display the correct icon. Any way to get Vista to dispaly the proper icon for this program??

The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.
