If you use Firefox, then it uses a separate plug-in than Internet Explorer. I go to control panel, under program, I saw those with window live xxx and i remove it but i cant uninstall/change window live essentials and i cant find the Window Live Messenger there. I exit the icon that appear at the bottom of the screen. I even remove it from the program. But after i restart the PC, Window Live Messenger appears again.
I'm trying to see 'thumbnail' previews of graphic files (Microsoft Photodraw ..mix extension, adobe illustrator .ai, photoshop .psd, etc.) which ALL worked in Windows XP but now they do not work in Vista. I had a prior thread on there than said to do the following, but that does not work. Any idea on how to use the 32 bit windows explorer on a 64 bit vista o/s to show thumbnail previews of graphic files?..........
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer takes a long time to shut down and when i log back onto windows it always tells me that windows was shut down incorrectly due to an incompatibility with my version of windows caused by my Trend Micro PC-Cillin Security 14 program. It offers the suggestion to go to the Trend Micro website for updates, but there aren't any updates for it that have to do with vista integration. So I shut off my windows firewall in order to avoid firewall/virus software conflicts, but my computer is still having issues.

When I run the installer i get the following error message: "messenger couldnt be installed because we had trouble installing these requirements: * Microsoft Application Error Reporting Try installing Windows Live programs again. Program were not installed because the installation was canceled. aborted:0x80004004. * Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime Try installing Windows Live programs again. Programs were not installed because the installation was cancelled. aborted:0x80004004 * Windows live call. The installer has insufficient prviliges to access this directory; :programdatamicrosoftWindowsstartmenuprogramswindows live. The installer cannot continue. Log on as adminstrator or contact your system administrator. Please close all other programs and then try again. It looks like another program is preventign the installer from working. hr:0x80070643.
I tried quite a bit:
- I am admininistrator and have all rights.
- Downloaded the installer and ran it as administrator
- Downloaded the whole file (wlsetup-all.exe, 134MB) and tried to run it (as administrator), instead of the installer itself (wlsetup-custom.exe, 1mb).....
I have a 64x vista labtop (os) and today there was a 64x update. So I updated and bout 4mins or less blue screen, tested again, got blue screen. Did this multiple times. I decided to test if something just went wrong so I went into safe mode and uninstalled those 3 updates.

So, I see that part (if not all) of the problem is bad drivers. Why is this so and how can I fix it? I have a Gateway M-Series laptop (about 10 months old).
Is it possible to load a 32 bit version of AutoCAD 2009 so my third party software will work? If not, what are some other options? Because I need the third party software to do my job. I must have the 32 bit version of AutCAD.

I discovered that I CAN access my Yahoo email using OE. My new laptop has windows mail that will not work. I'd love to make the current MS Mail work but I suspect it will just be easier to install OE if possible? unless you know some way to get past my "Mediacom" port blocks?

I go to tools and options, and it says "This application is NOT the default mail handler" Then it says "Make default" I click on it, click apply, and then Okay to close the box, but when I reopen it, it says the same thing. I've tried closeing windows mail, and reopening, either way, it will NOT make Windows mail my defaut mail, even though there is no other mail handler on my computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a program called Topalt to delete a lot of duplicate messages and now Windows Mail won't work. All my folders have disappeared except the Inbox and some newsgroup folders but none of them are accessible anyway. The folders themselves are still all physically where they should be, however, and as far as I can tell they're ok.
So how can I repair Windows Mail? My Vista Home Premium came preinstalled on an HP laptop. I don't have an installation CD as such. I did a repair partition wipe and installed Acronis as a recovery tool. Unfortunately, it's been several weeks since I last did a file backup, so to use that for repair would not be at all convenient.
I got a pop up for a username and password to access my mail. What I had written down does not work. so....i Have to go to Yahoo mail which I left because of the set up and disgusting ads like rotten teeth and people's cellulite rearends popping up when trying to read mail.So instead today, thought I could sign up for Windows live mail, which took a lot of my time. However, I cannot get my main email account to be accepted in Windows live - and by the way is this going to cost me? I am really hoping that Windows live will not be placing these same type of ads in my mail or I won't use it either. I would really just like to get my Windows mail back because it was perfect.

1. A newsgroup show 8 messages unread, but when I click on 'Next unread message' Mail said 'there are no more messages, got to next newsgroup?'. It is the only newsgroup that shows this.
2. A blank screen, something I can't explain, appeared over the screen of Mail. I could not access the Start Button. I did an and picked 'Task Manager', but it never appeared.
3. I could do to get to another application or the desktop, but nothing else. I tried to shut down and but couldn't get to the button. Nothing would work.
This isn't the first time Windows Mail had done strainge things. At present it show no messages but when I first click this newsgroup it show thousands of messages.
