HP Pavilion Laptop BIOS: How To Get And Install The Latest Version
Oct 21, 2009
I'd like to keep abreast of the latest BIOS for my laptop - but I don't know which version I have, the manufacturer - or how to get and install the latest version.
A few sites are reporting that MS has released another beta of SP2 to the public. Unfortunately, all the links provided by those sites point to older versions. Does anyone have a link to the x86 version of the latest SP2 Beta? It would have to be higher than v.285.
I bought a HP Pavilion Laptop which came with Vista Home Premium 64bit installed on it. There are however a number of 16-bit DOS applications that I need to run for college work. I tried using DOSBox but it seems that the HP Pavilion laptop keypad isn't compatible. I can't even get my C drive to mount because there's no key that prints the ':' character. So I guess the only option is to install 32 bit vista. A friend of mine has a 32 bit vista installation. If I install a copy using his activation key and then later (after installation)change it to my 64bit key, will it work?
Using Asus Update Program for (All) Windows I cannot flash my BIOS. It erases the old BIOS, writes the new BIOS, but fails confirmation. When I turn off my PC now will it never wake up? I flashed the BIOS no problems with this program through XP.I really hate Vista64
4GB Flash will not work (Asks for driver which does not exist) Music Keyboards don't have Vista 64 Drivers Vista 64 will not shut down correctly (Shutting down screen freezes) Vista 64 gives cannot locate link for Firefox shortcuts (But Firefox loads with page) Vista 64 will not recognise my Creative Zen Vista 64 will not recognise my Motorola Phone Memory.dll error with Battlefield 2 on high settings
Latest Version of Adobe Flash Player Released Version: 10.1.53.64
Date Posted: June 10th 2010 Flash Player is still not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser yet. Remember to uncheck the Google Toolbar option if you do not want it installed to. See release notes. Adobe Flash Player Download Page If you have problems installing the Adobe Flash Player, then you might use the uninstaller program to remove the old Adobe Flash Player version and try installing the new version again afterwards. How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control If you use Firefox, then it uses a separate plug-in than Internet Explorer. You will need to select your OS, click Continue, and select "other browsers" to install the separate plug-in for Firefox from this link instead. You should check your Adobe Flash settings and click on the Delete all sites button at this link every so often.
My wife has xp & eudora. Santa brought her a new computer with vista. I'd like to move her over to the latest vista version of Outlook. Can i buy this unbundled?

I am using Window Vista. I am unable to uninstall Window Live Messenger (latest version). I go to control panel, under program, I saw those with window live xxx and i remove it but i cant uninstall/change window live essentials and i cant find the Window Live Messenger there. I exit the icon that appear at the bottom of the screen. I even remove it from the program. But after i restart the PC, Window Live Messenger appears again.
Since Norton and McAffee and perhaps the latest version of Trend do not work with Windows Mail (based on informative response provided by Frank Saunders
I upgraded my pc and bought Windows Vista ultimate 64bit, and i would like to install Windows vista Business 64bit. How can i do it? I took ultimate because it was the only version i could find (in my area anyway) that had a 64bit version in the box. But i don't want the media center, the high definition, and all the multimedia stuff. All of these ultimate "extras" are of no use whatsover to me. So my question is basically can i install the Business version with my ultimate key ? (is it "downwards" compatible in a way ?). I don't understand why ultimate is the only one with 64bit in the box. It doesn't make sense to me. It would have been much more logical for the Business version to be the one with 64bit in the box.
May take the plunge on setting up Vista 64 on a new drive. I have 8gb installed currently in this XP box (in anticipation of Vista 64), and so was wondering if it is critical to remove two modules before installing Vista 64. What do you know?
I want to re-install Vista, only thing is it's an OEM Version of the OS. Is it possible to re-install an OEM Version of the OS, and how do i go about re-installing it if it's possible.
I know how to use a Windows 7 DVD to delete or alter the files so I can use the DVD (or Flash drive) to re-install or repair Windows 7 machines, but I am running into more Vista machines. I have a Vista Ultimate DVD I purchased. I would like to simply modify the files so I can re-install or repair Vista machines. (any version) How is this done? It must be possible. With Windows 7 it's simple, just delete the ie.cfg file, but I cannot seem to figure it out with Vista.
I am have vista 64 bit premium and i have a asus m2n-sli deluxe with a 1.02 Bios Will i need to update the bios before install of vista? i also will useing 8 gigs of ram. ty for any tips and advice
I want to get rid of vista and install xp pro on my computer. I purchased a full install version of xp. Xp won't install over a newer version. I can't fdisk with vista. I can't figure out how to delete the primary partition and completely clean my hard drive.
When the downloads are complete I get either one of two error messages: '...is not a valid win32 application' OR 'The set up files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the software.' I have attempted to install these programs at least three times and still get the above messages. Since the laptop is brand new, i doubt there is a virus on it.
Now as an Electrical Engineer I proved this point and upped my HP to 4GB w/3.25GB usable: If your chipset is Intel945 - as in my HP dv8408us & MANY NEWER HP laptops (Pavilions/MediaCenters), ignore HP claim of maixmum memory = 4GB. You can install 2GB+2GB sticks, you'll get 3.25GB usable by Windows, I know you waste about 1GB but it still makes sense. Intel945 chipset is hardwired for 32-bit adddresses so Windows whether it be 32 or 64bit is not a limitation, it's the chipset which is a limitation, STILL it can address 4GB, not 2GB as HP claimed on my laptop specs. I've done the same with IBM Thinkpads, where they claimed 512MB to be max 5 years ago, but I was running with 1GB. It appears idiots sometimes write these specs because 2GB laptop SDRAM modules were unavailable at that time at reasonable price/pinout?..............
Currently My Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit, has IE7 running and I downloaded IE8 from the official MS site. Questions: 1. Is it advisible to have IE8 in my system? And if so, 2. Can I just install IE8 over the old version, or is there a special procedure? And if so, 3. What does it consist of? Open-Minded.
i have an ultimate OEM since a couple of months. I like to change the SCSI U320 controller and disks to SAS Scsi (because i need more space then the Raid5 Scsi gives right now. I am changing van 73 GB to 300 gb. So, can i reuse my OEM version to install Vista? Is it true that only the motherboard is checked by Microsoft?
I can't use MSN messenger unless I install a newer version, but this doesn't work. When I run the installer i get the following error message: "messenger couldnt be installed because we had trouble installing these requirements: * Microsoft Application Error Reporting Try installing Windows Live programs again. Program were not installed because the installation was canceled. aborted:0x80004004. * Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime Try installing Windows Live programs again. The installer has insufficient prviliges to access this directory; :programdatamicrosoftWindowsstartmenuprogramswindows live. The installer cannot continue. Log on as adminstrator or contact your system administrator. Please close all other programs and then try again. It looks like another program is preventign the installer from working. hr:0x80070643.
I tried quite a bit: - I am admininistrator and have all rights. - Downloaded the installer and ran it as administrator - Downloaded the whole file (wlsetup-all.exe, 134MB) and tried to run it (as administrator), instead of the installer itself (wlsetup-custom.exe, 1mb).....
I posted a thread yesterday about problems with uninstalling programs. Which in the end I managed to do successfully. But I have a new problem. At the moment I am trying install a new version of Itunes which I downloaded from the website. However I have tried repeatedly to install but my computer continues to say that the administrator has set policies to prevent the installation. Also that I do not have sufficient access and to contact the system administrator. Is there a way I can get around this? If not who would be the system administrator that I would contact?
Is it possible to install an Premium version of Vista With a Ultimate key?? And if it is possible, HOW? I want to Install Premium because of all the security options.
I have a fairly new HP a6110 desktop that has its own special restore = partition on the "C" drive that can be accessed from the boot menu. My issue is that I have a legitimate version of Vista Ultimate that I = would like to install, but I have heard some horror stories that the way = the HP is set up, that it will not allow this - Indeed that it will not = even allow a "clean" install of the Vista Ultimate and will crash the HD = id I try? Is this true and also, is it possible to upgrade to Vista Ultimate by an = upgrade over the Home Premium? If it is possible - what do I need to do to install Vista Ultimate?
I was given Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago but my Laptop can only handle Home, is there anyway I can set it to install a chopped Ultimate or the Home version?
Install Vista by following one of the guides below:
Clean install from an Upgrade Disk Clean install with a full version of Vista
Then download and install Vista Service Pack 1
Vista 32 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone Vista 64 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems
Then download and install Vista Service Pack 2. 32bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone. 64bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems. Once Vista and both service packs are installed and you are at the desktop, install only your Security software (eg Anti Virus, Firewall etc) and update them........
I am planning to have a dual-boot but I want to install an older version of OS. I purchased the notebook with Windows Vista HomeBasic installed and I want to install Windows XP for some compatibility reasons. Would it just be OK if I'll do it that way?
I recently installed Office 2007 on a new Vista 64 bit system. I was unable to install my previous version of WordPerfect Office 12. When using WP on my previous Windows XP system, I was able to go into the word processor, click open, go to the wp folder (where I kept all my documents) and do a search based on a particular word I was looking for. For example, I could type in the word "hebrew" in the files box and each document file that contained that word (not only in the file name but in the contents of the file) was listed. I could then preview the contents of each document file and open the one I wanted.
Does this feature work in Word 2007 under Vista 64? I have only been able to find a file name with the word I type, even though I know many other document files contain the word I type in the files box. This has been very frustrating because it means I have to preview every file to find the one I want rather than just the files with the typed word in its contents.
