Sep 21, 2009I bought the above MS mouse and use it with Vista 64. It works fine. It has on the side an ENLARGE button which also works fine, but I see no way how to disengage it.

Microsoft has finally released an update for these users so that they can use screensavers once again in Windows Vista. Follow theses steps to get the update for your computer:

Laptop Keyboard And Mouse Suddenly Stopped Working
May 20, 2008I have an Acer Aspire 3100 Laptop with the Windows Vista OS, AMD Sempron processor, 80 GB HD, 512 MB DDR2 (I can?t give any other info due to the fact that I can?t use the computer at present and don?t have any of the paperwork because I am currently out of the country); I?ve had it about 8 months and have only had minimal problems. However, the other day I turned it on to download photos from my cell phone to the computer, but when it turned on the cursor was frozen in the middle of the screen. I allowed it to sit for a few more minutes thinking maybe I didn?t let it boot up completely, but it never unfroze. I tried to use the keyboard to maneuver a restart with CTRL+ALT+DEL but the keyboard didn?t respond either. So I just turned it off using the power switch. I let it sit for a while and then tried a reboot. This time it worked. I thought I would attempt some troubleshooting so I did a disc cleanup and scheduled a scan disc to be completed on restart. Then I began the AVG virus scanner (which has been installed on the computer for over 2 months and not given me a problem) and a few minutes into the scan the whole computer locked up again (not just a program ?not responding?). I let it sit about 15 minutes hoping it would unlock, but it didn?t. The cursor was frozen in the middle of the screen and the keyboard was not responding again. I turned it off by the power switch and let it sit for about an hour. When I turned it back on the scan disc I had scheduled began running and when the system restarted everything worked again, but then I needed to leave so I put the computer to sleep and brought it with me. When I turned the computer back on a few hours later everything seemed to be working. I began working on a project and maybe 20-30 minutes into the project, the computer completely locked up again, cursor in the middle and no keyboard function. I did notice that the laptop was running a little hot at that point and from then on I have kept it in the coolest place possible and keep my house fan blowing on it as well......

Jun 6, 2009I've just set up a wireless modem for my dad, who'd had a wired modem for 18 months. It's more convenient but it takes a while to get linked up, especially as the wireless has to be manually started with two keys. I've clued my dad up a a fair bit but he tries to get surfing before it's all going properly. Because I normally use Ubuntu now my own wireless is on a few seconds past the BIOS screen, I suppose, and I wondered if there is some registry alteration or something that can be made so that the wireless is always on once Vista starts up.
Or maybe the wireless process can be put into the startup programs? I wouldn't know what the process or software is called (whether it's among Vista's programs or the Advent's add-on stuff). If Ubuntu running on the same laptop would allow immediate wireless I imagine there's no hardware reason why this can't be done. Normally it's a case of pressing Fn and F10 with Vista. If the laptop is merely restarted rather than turned off and on the wireless remains on. The waiting wouldn't bother me, but my dad being of a certain age is not mad keen on change and different procedures.... I stop short of

Connect Laptop To Mac Wireless Network
May 18, 2008My vista laptop originally connected to the internet through a mac wireless network, but once i restarted, it will now only connect as a local network and I can't access the internet. If I look at the 'Network and Sharing Center' on the Vista laptop it says that the laptop is connected to the network, which is connected to the gateway, but the gateway is not connected to the internet. At the same time, I have an XP desktop with the same problem, but 3 mac computers can connect to the internet with no problems.

It commences to connect to my Internet dialup provider. The PC sends about 15KB, receives about 30KB and then no acitivity. The connection does not disengage after a few minutes of preset inactivity as my standard connection does. Clicking on this icon does not help. It won't respond to a left or right click. This evening my 3 year old Logitech wireless mouse just stopped working, abruptly, and I started getting repeated messages of an unknown USB device even with nothing attached. I tried the mouse on two other computers...it worked fine. I tried a system restore from yesterday with no results. I followed the advice offered on other threads to delete USB ports and reboot...no go. Still weird behavior. I noted that one person with a similar problem turned off notebook and removed and reinstalled battery...whalla! It works. The mouse now functions and no more strange messages. I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a Sony Vaio notebook.
