I bought a logitech webcam it had a built in mic and all that jazz, before I installed it I had a Sound Blaster XFi Xtreme Audio sound card in there, it worked fine no issues. When I hooked in and installed my logitech webcam my microphone no longer works on my headset I dunno if i disabled somethign or what I tried doing a system restore but to no avail.
View 8 RepliesSometimes, after installing MS updates or other apps, I lose my sound. The only way I get it back is to use System Restore to a point where the sound worked. However, then I don't have the updates or apps. This tells me that it's a software problem with Vista - not a hardware problem. Now, I am about 11 MS updates behind - and no sound. Also, the System Restore doesn't work anymore (I no longer have a Restore point where the sound worked). I've Googled and have found that many people have similar problems with their HP laptops. I am using Vista, SP-2. I am now going to ionstall the updates since I can't go back to get the sound. I've checked in Device Manager (no problem) and made sure I'm using the most recent signed driver. I can't find any text indication that I have a problem but when I go to Playback Options and try the sound Test, I get a message which says the sound didn't play. Hope I included all the relevant information. If not, please tell me. I've tried everything I know of. I have a full backup of my hard drive
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have bought a gateway M-1628 with a built in webcam and when i open camera assistant software program. it shows nothing the light for the webcam comes on like its on. but it shows no image at all. with the program i can record sound but no video. i uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it and still nothing. just wondering if there have been other problems. i have a Toshiba a while ago with the same program for the webcam just a little different and that one worked at first but just didn't work with messengers and later updated to work. but i can't find new updates of anything for the one i have now.

After installing SP1 my background and icons were distorted and I lost sound. I immediately uninstalled SP1 and things seemed to return to normal. Do I really need it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my status bar, pop ups continued to pop up, stating that i just unplugged a device from the driver, then it would tell me i plugged it back in, all the time doing nothing remotely close to these insane accusations, i continued without really worrying about it. until i actually lost my sound, and it went crazy with those pop ups. so i uninstalled the driver, reboot, installed new driver from realtek, and it worked for like 4 hours, then no sound again. uninstalled driver, reboot, install, reboot, no sound, and i am apparently continuously unplugging the jack like a madman. so, another uninstall, reboot, but this time i install the driver from the cd i got with my pc (dell inspiron 530s-120b)......................
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently, after an unsuccessful attempt to upgrade to Windows 7, my reinstalled Vista Home Premium 64bit, after operating normally for a while, lost sound completely. I cannot pinpoint the event that prompted this malfunction and instead of trying to toubleshoot the onboard Realtek High Definition Audio, I installed a Diamond Xreme Sound 5.1 card running a C-Media Electronic driver ver. 6.12.8.1737, which is the latest for this sound card. The sound card worked fine, after a restart, producing rich sound via Logitech's X-210 2-speaker-plus subwoofer system. As long as I kept the system on Sleep, the sound worked fine. As soon as I turned the computer off for the night last night, the system reloaded with no sound playing whatsoever.
I have disabled the onboard Realtek High Definition Audio under Device Manager as well as the ATI High Definition Audio Device that appeared after I installed a Gigabyte HD 5770 graphics card BEFORE I installed the sound card. The only active audio devices now are the C-Media PCI Audio Device (Diamond sound card) and the Logitech Mic QuickCam S7500. Under Sound in the Control Panel, the only playback device is Speakers that are checked and are reported OK by the system as part of the Diamond sound card. Under Recording, the following devices appear: C-Media Microphone currently unavailable Line-In C-Media Audio Device (speakers) checked and working C-Media Aux device currently unavailable C-Media CD player currently unavailable C-Media Stereo Mix currently unavailable C-Media Wave currently unavailable Logitech Mic Working Under Sounds Play Windows Startup sound is checked. After installing the latest C-Media driver and restarting the computer, I receive faint sound from one of the Logitech speakers with volume turned to 100 pc. But no stereo, strong sound....!
Before I do a system restore, if someione can tell me how to get the sound back when I play the music from Windows Media Player? I just found out today.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer was working with no problems at all until I decided to download the latest versions of Itunes(7.6.2)/Quicktime(7.5) for some music shopping. At first, everything was still working as usual and I could play my purchased and downloaded music with itunes,winamp and the media player with no issues whatsoever.At the end of my session, I switched off my PC. The next day, however, my sound had completely vanished from my system. I don't get any system sounds,music,streaming audio... nothing at all.After I browsed a multitude of forums, both Apple and Vista, I still could not figure out what my issue was, as I had no hardware issues up to the itunes/quicktime installation. Nothing is muted. Speakers worked fine before the reboot. My Soundblaster X-Fi ExtremeMusic has all the necessary drivers installed and is being recognised fine. My onboard audio is disabled through BIOS. All my codecs and players were working fine until I rebooted, after installing itunes/quicktime.I was using a multitude of players without issues. (Zoom Player,CoreMediaPlayer,Winamp,VLC all worked fine). I used system restore twice, without success. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling codecs and players, without success. Uninstalling itunes/quicktime didn't help.
I'm at my wits' end. The problem clearly lies with the itunes/quicktime installation and something it did with my sound output or registry. I think I'm not the only one with this problem, but none of the suggested workarounds/fixes worked for me. I hope someone who had a similar issue can help me fix this, because I really don't want to format and reinstall everything from scratch.
When I upgraded to Vista Premium from Basic I lost sound. Seems to be a common problem. I got the message "no audio output device is installed" I tried updating drivers to no avail.The following worked for me just now.
Go to Device manager
open Sound, video and game controllers
double click the driver
click "update driver"
click "search my computer"
choose "high definition audio device" - NOT the driver
My sound was working perfectly and then I inserted the Upgrade Your Windows Vista Experience disk. A red X appeared next to the speaker icon on my thing tray. When I click on it it says "no audio output device is installed". Did the disk wipe out my "audio output device"? Any way of getting it back? Downloading? Getting Microsoft to fix?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI guess SigmaTel is famous for putting out pretty ****ty audio hardware/software because a lot of people claim to having had problems with thier sound cards...Anyway, I have no sound coming from my speakers what so ever except for the windows error beep. Theres an "x" on the speakers on the taskbar. The device name is there and claims to be working when I hover over the speaker sys. tray icon, also in device manager and in playback devices. Although the Levels tab in Sound>Speakers/Headphones>Properties is completely empty. The Volume Mixer claims there is NO audio device installed even tho' its there when I hover on the speaker icon. I've tried uninstalling and installing just about everything possible from both gateway and windows but the problem persists...

I checked the Help page about this subject, and found out that the drivers or my "PnP Audio Device" are not up to date (there is a yellow triangle with !-mark in front of it). I tried to update them via Device Manager, but it didn't work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Vista Home Premium onto my pc, and everything seems to be running ok, except for the sound. No matter what application I run, my sound seems to skip a lot. It's most noticeable when listening to music or TV. Various media players don't make a difference, and it acts like my pc is starving for resources. I've got a 3.2Ghz cpu w/2Gb of memory and plenty of hard drive space. 256Mb ATI video card, and Audigy sound card, but it looks like Vista makes the applications run off of the virtual memory, even when nothing else is running. Is anyone having issues like this? I've disabled services and features till I'm blue in the face. Nothing seems to help, although increasing CPU priority for the process seems to make it better, but it's still skipping.

I don't know if this is related to using vista x64, but when I use Flip 3D, Live Messenger conversation windows don't appear in Flip, instead they appear in the background. I don't know if this is caused by using Vista x64, maybe it's a problem with Messenger.
This is my question: I'd like to try Vista Ultimate x86, and, as I have a machine with 2GB of RAM, could I experience any kind of troubles (in performance) using Vista x86 in my laptop? I'd like to know what kind of stuff I could lose because of moving from Vista x64 to Vista x86... maybe DEP? What else could I lose?
By the way, I use these programs frequently: VMware Workstation 6.5, Visual Studio 2008, MS Office 2007, SQL Server 2005... and other common programs (like WinZip, Adobe Reader, Live Messenger 9, etc). I don't use other programs (like Photoshop, intensive games or the like), and I have usually open, for example, VMware, WMP11 with Visual Studio at the same time.
I have bought a Logitech webcam from a relative. there was no cd or manual with it. I thought by just pluging in the webcam via usb port, it would work. When i logged onto msn and tried it out, there was nothing going through although it said it was connected.

I have a Sony Vaio Model (VGN-CR507E) and I have recently put on the Windows 7 Evaluation Copy, Build 7100. Everything seems to be in good order except for the Webcam. When I try to run msn, skype or any other webcam related programs it says that the webcam is in use by another program. When I go to my Device Manager It says that the USB Video Device is installed and fully updated.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI apologize in advance for my fevered nature I'm just a little bit frustrated over this. My boyfriend bought me a Microsoft LifeCam vx-5000 today. After the initial frustration of getting my webcam to actually broadcast video via the internet I became increasingly angry over the fact that everything, even the music player I was using on a different tab froze or lagged severely after only a few seconds of my broadcasting. People would freeze or there would be a lapse in messages and then the video would start up again and/or the messages would come in droves.
My Internet works fine and is quite fast when my webcam is not on. My computer, while about 4 years old works relatively quickly and I am able to use that quickly when the webcam is on. Also, this problem only happens when the webcam is being used with the internet and nothing freezes or slows when the webcam and the internet are not connected (just using the webcam program and not utilizing say chatroulette or tinychat.) Everyone I chat with says that they can see me clearly and I do not lag or freeze at all. Also, on my computer my webcam does not freeze or lag at all. I am incredibly frustrated because internet searches have proven to be useless because everyone complains about their webcam freezing when my problem is the complete opposite.
Well I just got my laptop brand new like three months ago. My Webcam worked for a little while then all a sudden it stopped working. When this first started happening I would shut down my laptop then it would work again, but still the problem persisted. Now my webcam does not work at all. I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx entertainment laptop with windows vista home premium 64bit. I have McAfee antivirusus on my laptop and I've heard it doesn't allow you do view video or do video call on MSN. Well even when I try to open webcam thru HP MediaSmart Webcam it doesn't work. It doesn't work with QuickPlay either. I get the error messsage (No device detected. Please plug a device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure its turned on.) No clue why this message is showing up. I have a built-in webcam on this laptop. I checked webcam under device manager which it is not there.No imaging devices are found at all. Under USB there is an unknown device that shows up everytime. I Delete it then check hardware changes and it shows up again. But it says there is no drivers installed for this device. So I'm not sure if this unknown device is the webcam. I've tried uninstalling webcam program/driver and installing it again and it doesn't work. My computer is up to date with all updates windows provide. My BIOs systems is also up to date.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a new ZT computer with Vista home premium 64bit o.s. I also bought a new webcam, the logitch pro-9000. Driver's installation went fine, but at the end I've got a message telling me that 'the required line was not found in the INF'. (see attached file for the whole message). I had the exact same issue with my old 'Epson' scanner which worked fine on my old computer with the XP pro. os. On the other hand, both my 'Canon' printers are working fine. All these devices are connected through USB2.
1. Is there an issue with the imaging devices?
2. Is there a known and easy cure? (I'm not a computer savvy).
3. Is it safe and/or will it help to download one of those 'drivers updater and fixer'?
I have a Compaq Presario F600 running Vista Home.Everthing else works fine except my webcam. I can see my cam on my screen, but not the the othe persons. I run the latest trend micro protection which I have tried turning off, but all I get is loading and then network connection error. I have read numerous other threads, although none have seemed to come to a final conclusion on this matter.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on an HP dv9030us Pavilion Laptop that has a built-in webcam. (specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.67 gHz; 2 gb of ram; 2 internal hard drives. I just did an upgrade to Vista Home Prem 32-bit and somewhere along the way, my 'HP Webcam' software disappeared. This is the actual software which allows me to make a webcam video or a video for emailing. An (apparently) empty folder icon replaced the real webcam icon I had on my desktop. There is a real webcam icon on the task bar but it just displays a little menu (on/off/50 Hz/60 Hz/exit) and nothing happens there.
