Webcam Speaker Disabled
Jun 7, 2008In order to use another microphone, I disabled the webcam microphone. Now the icon for the webcam mike does not appear, in the recording devices. How do I reenable the webcam microphone?

Speaker Echo
May 11, 2009I have a brand new Gateway GT5694 desktop computer, using Windows Home Premium (x64). I have a set of Altec Lansing speakers which I've plugged into it, which worked very well with my previous XP computer. There's an echo in the audio output that's so bad that speech is barely intelligible. There's also mild distortion in music. Headsets work fine when I switch to those; no echo at all. Speakers consist of a small left and small right
speaker, and a sub-woofer. They're powered speakers. The speakers' green input plug (only one) is plugged into the green, speaker output on the computer. I've tried all the other 3.5mm outputs, and none of the other outputs work at all insofar as producing sound. I've tried different settings in the Control Panel (Manage Audio Devices).
Missing Speaker Icon
May 29, 2009The speaker icon has disappeared (lower right). I have no control of the volume and it is set to zero. I need volume control - machine is useless to me without it. How do I get it back and prevent it from disappearing again?

Jun 22, 2009I was given a pair of Logitech Z-10 USB Speakers. I'm running Vista 64. I've never seen a USB speaker system....Not sure how they work. Will I have problems with these speakers? Will they use my sound card? Do they put a heavier load on the CPU than a sound card? I've downloaded the latest 64bit drivers, but they are dated '07, so I'm not sure if I want to try these.

Oct 15, 2009My speaker starts humming when i plug the mouse into the front panel USB port. I have 2 front panel USB. The humming more prominent with the mouse plugged to one of them. There is no humming when connected to back ports. There is no humming when a pen drive is connected to either of the front ports! I tried another mouse on the front and that causes humming too. The front panel is a single PCB with 2 USB and the headphone and mic jacks (AC97). My speakers are connected on the rear. Probably some irreparable problem on the front panel PCB, but if someone has experienced a similar problem and solved it

Dec 30, 2008I want to do is have my headphone to have a different audio stream than my speakers so that I can talk to a friend through my headset and receive the voice audio, but to also have through my speakers sound from other programs. Basically I just want the system to recognise the speaker and my headphone as different output devices instead of tieing them together. The software I'm using is Realtek Audio Manager and it hasn't been helpful whatsoever, I've had two computers and I've had the same problem with them both.

I had event sounds for Menu Command and Menu Pop-up (this beep wasn't assigned.) but have removed the sound just for testing. I don't even have this sound anywhere in my sounds folder.

Dec 23, 2007Ive recently installed vista ultimate 64 and previously in xp i could set the speaker setup to be headphones in the sound options, however in vista there is no selection and its setup as just speakers. Ive set in x-fi modes and console etc to be headphones so everything is fine then but im slightly miffed as to why its saying speakers in the control panel -> sound section in windows not the x-fi. It also shows it as a speaker icon and not headphones so i dont know if this is conflicting.

Jun 28, 2008Because of the recent fiasco with Creative / Daniel K the straw has broken the camels back and I am trying real hard to not use my X-Fi XtremeGamer, and never buy Creative again. Although I didn't personally have many issues with it (and Alchemy is great for Vista...wish there was one for everyone) I don't want to spend my life wondering what will happen next with my drivers..
I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R rev 1.0. This board has the Realtek ALC889A chip and when I first started using it in XP I was so very impressed with both the quality and the features. Specifically speaker fill. I love upmixing my music to 5.1 and at the time I was having weird issues with Creatives own expansion setting so I happily used my onboard for quite a while.
Then I decided to upgrade to Vista and noticed immediately that things were not working the way they had on XP.. DirectSound removal aside, I couldn't even get music to upmix properly.. So here I am again, trying to get by without my X-Fi and I've installed the latest drivers from Realtek's web site for Vista x64........

Jan 28, 2010i just bought LOGITECH x-530 5.1 Speaker system. when i go to "Realtek HD Audio manager" and choose "5.1 speaker" the "rear pair" is grayed out! Here is a picture; if i change it to 7.1. then the "rear pair" will appear and i will be able to preform the test and hear sound... B-U-T ---> when i will play movies.. (divx, mkx, bluray.. ect'...) i don't hear the people talking.. it's like the wrong sound configuration information goes to the speakers. it will seem the people talking coms from the sub-woofer.. and again really really dim... .+ the rear speakers will work but very low (even when i put it on full volume) . any idea how to set up correctly the sound ? so even if i am on 7.1. the sound will go to the speakers as 5.1 and send the right information to each speaker?

Feb 27, 2009There were some problems with drivers of a webcam I bought some weeks ago, but it wasn't serious, because I have the webcam of my lap. I don't know if this is related to using vista x64, but when I use Flip 3D, Live Messenger conversation windows don't appear in Flip, instead they appear in the background. I don't know if this is caused by using Vista x64, maybe it's a problem with Messenger.
This is my question: I'd like to try Vista Ultimate x86, and, as I have a machine with 2GB of RAM, could I experience any kind of troubles (in performance) using Vista x86 in my laptop? I'd like to know what kind of stuff I could lose because of moving from Vista x64 to Vista x86... maybe DEP? What else could I lose?
By the way, I use these programs frequently: VMware Workstation 6.5, Visual Studio 2008, MS Office 2007, SQL Server 2005... and other common programs (like WinZip, Adobe Reader, Live Messenger 9, etc). I don't use other programs (like Photoshop, intensive games or the like), and I have usually open, for example, VMware, WMP11 with Visual Studio at the same time.
Logitech Webcam
Jun 6, 2008I have bought a Logitech webcam from a relative. there was no cd or manual with it. I thought by just pluging in the webcam via usb port, it would work. When i logged onto msn and tried it out, there was nothing going through although it said it was connected.

Sep 30, 2009I have a Sony Vaio Model (VGN-CR507E) and I have recently put on the Windows 7 Evaluation Copy, Build 7100. Everything seems to be in good order except for the Webcam. When I try to run msn, skype or any other webcam related programs it says that the webcam is in use by another program. When I go to my Device Manager It says that the USB Video Device is installed and fully updated.

May 15, 2010I apologize in advance for my fevered nature I'm just a little bit frustrated over this. My boyfriend bought me a Microsoft LifeCam vx-5000 today. After the initial frustration of getting my webcam to actually broadcast video via the internet I became increasingly angry over the fact that everything, even the music player I was using on a different tab froze or lagged severely after only a few seconds of my broadcasting. People would freeze or there would be a lapse in messages and then the video would start up again and/or the messages would come in droves.
My Internet works fine and is quite fast when my webcam is not on. My computer, while about 4 years old works relatively quickly and I am able to use that quickly when the webcam is on. Also, this problem only happens when the webcam is being used with the internet and nothing freezes or slows when the webcam and the internet are not connected (just using the webcam program and not utilizing say chatroulette or tinychat.) Everyone I chat with says that they can see me clearly and I do not lag or freeze at all. Also, on my computer my webcam does not freeze or lag at all. I am incredibly frustrated because internet searches have proven to be useless because everyone complains about their webcam freezing when my problem is the complete opposite.
Hp Webcam Not Working
Jul 29, 2009Well I just got my laptop brand new like three months ago. My Webcam worked for a little while then all a sudden it stopped working. When this first started happening I would shut down my laptop then it would work again, but still the problem persisted. Now my webcam does not work at all. I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx entertainment laptop with windows vista home premium 64bit. I have McAfee antivirusus on my laptop and I've heard it doesn't allow you do view video or do video call on MSN. Well even when I try to open webcam thru HP MediaSmart Webcam it doesn't work. It doesn't work with QuickPlay either. I get the error messsage (No device detected. Please plug a device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure its turned on.) No clue why this message is showing up. I have a built-in webcam on this laptop. I checked webcam under device manager which it is not there.No imaging devices are found at all. Under USB there is an unknown device that shows up everytime. I Delete it then check hardware changes and it shows up again. But it says there is no drivers installed for this device. So I'm not sure if this unknown device is the webcam. I've tried uninstalling webcam program/driver and installing it again and it doesn't work. My computer is up to date with all updates windows provide. My BIOs systems is also up to date.

Jan 31, 2009I've just bought a new ZT computer with Vista home premium 64bit o.s. I also bought a new webcam, the logitch pro-9000. Driver's installation went fine, but at the end I've got a message telling me that 'the required line was not found in the INF'. (see attached file for the whole message). I had the exact same issue with my old 'Epson' scanner which worked fine on my old computer with the XP pro. os. On the other hand, both my 'Canon' printers are working fine. All these devices are connected through USB2.
1. Is there an issue with the imaging devices?
2. Is there a known and easy cure? (I'm not a computer savvy).
3. Is it safe and/or will it help to download one of those 'drivers updater and fixer'?

I run the latest trend micro protection which I have tried turning off, but all I get is loading and then network connection error.
