I have a Lexmark Optra R laser printer that I bought in 1996! But it works great and will outlast anything you can buy today. When I got my new computer with Vista I found I couldn't install it. The driver seems to be available, but the computer just doesn't recognize the printer.
View 7 RepliesI bought a Lexmark 3400 series all in one printer. I have been using in with my desk top computer with Mcro. Offive and it has worked great. I recently purchased a lap-top with Vista. We loaded the printer program on to the lap-top and made it the default. When we go to print we get the message that the computer can not communicate with the printer.

My Lexmark X2450 has been working on my Vista PC since May'07. Sometime in the last few weeks something has changed and initially it seemed that it wouldn't print anything. Lots of experimentation and uninstalls later, I've come to the conclusion that the printer is O.k. as it will print test pages and IE web pages, but I can't get it to print anything else, (Word docs etc. These show as spooling, printing then deleting in the print queue. Note: Last night, I gave up trying at 2am turned the printer and PC off and turned it off at the wall - the next morning my son turned on the PC and some of the print attempts from last night printed!

I had downloaded the vista driver software from the Lexmark web site *cjb3500-4500en.exe* - it installs the software but cant find the vista driver. I have tried a clean uninstall, reinstalling the drivers, installing the drivers manually with add printers, and nothing has worked!!! also restored the vista to a before point and reinstalled still no use.

View 9 Replies View Relatedhey guys another thing here i have a Lexmark X1185 that i have networked for along time with xp on my desktop and vista on the laptop, now since i installed vista x64 on the desktop i can no longer print from the laptop, yes i know i need to reinstall it on the laptop one problem though i can't do that. i can find the printer but it wont connect to it.
i keep getting "windows cannot connect to the printer. operation could not be completed (error 0x0000000d). i do have both the x64 drivers and the x86 drivers installed on the x64 desktop.
I have a problem on MSN that it doesn't recognize my web cam i know it works because other programs pick up the camera.
I have tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall it but that doesn't work
this is my very last try to fix this problem! perhaps the solution is very simple, but i have no more ideas to solve it. i just want to use my usb-storages on my system. neither my 2,5''-usbhdd nor my sandisk cruzr usbstick is accesible. vista asks me to provide special drivers from the manufacturer. but there are no special usb-flash-drive-drivers. the mainboard is a asus p5k. the 64bit-system-drivers are installed. the joke: my very old 64mb-flashdrive works fine, as well as my digicam and the memorycard in my handy.

It is in Program files, but it shows no icon in the start menu, and clicking on the vhd file opens a window asking what program should open it. An online MS search says that MS doesn;t recognize their own file. I uninstalled it and installed it again. No icons. I uninstalled Virtual PC and reinstalled it. No improvement. I have done all the above, changing sequence and restarting the computer in between several times. What's the secret? How do I get the XP Mode to open up and work?
View 4 Replies View Relatedso I'm running a MSI 790x Plat and Windows Vista x64 everything is plugged in correctly according the the manual, and I have all of my drivers updated, but it still doesnt recognize the headset or head phones for that matter. This headset works on other computers so i know its not the headset. I've asked around and people have told me i might need to enable it in the BIOS, but I've looked around and i don't know how to find it there. So I guess what im asking is if anyone can help me find the setting within the BIOS where i can enable it, or do i have to do something else.

I can always add the network printer to the Vista machine after startup by going through the "add a printer" dialog. When the machine reboots the "new" printer most often shows up as "offline". I've just replaced the network router with no effect on this (no better, no worse).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an eSATA problem that seem to be the same issue as described by Alanho in his post on May 27, 2008: I'm starting a new thread because that was almost a year ago and there is no answer given in that thread. I have an add-in, PCI-Express, 2-port, eSATA II card. It is a Heisei Electronics Co., Model BPE-220SI-V1.2, which contains a Silicon Image 3132 chip. My external drives are Western Digital MyBooks and they came with the eSATA cables. My PC is an HP xw6200 Workstation configured dual boot with XP Pro x86 and Vista Ultimate x64 SP1.
The eSATA drives work fine in the XP OS. In the x64 Vista OS, the eSATA connection is lost between the host adapter and the drive whenever the drive is idle for about 15 minutes. If the drive is accessed more often then that, then it never disconnects. For example, it will not disconnect if a torrent is running to the eSATA drive. In the thread I mentioned at the top of this post, someone suggested making a BAT file that would ping the drives every so often to keep the connection alive. Can anyone tell me specifically how to do this for the 2-port adapter? It sounds like this might be a work-around until I can figure out how to solve the problem directly.
I did check the Silicon Image website to see if I could flash the firmware on the adapter. I found the SI UpdFlash program but it doesn't seem to recognize the Heisei adapter as one that is flashable. Can anyone suggest a PCIe eSATA adpater card that is known to work corectly with Vista x64? I'd get a new adapter card if I knew of one that will work. Any other ideas? Someone who responded to Alanho's post said that this was a known problem in Vista. Is that true?
My new computer (Vista) is wired to a wireless router. While the router sees all other connections to the network, Vista doesn't recognize ANY computer (1 on XP, 1 a MacBook and 1 a wireless game system). How do I get Vista to recognize the other computers on the network? Previous XP computer saw and allowed sharing without issue, so not a hardware problem I'm thinking, as the new computer/Vista is the only change to the system.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy GeForce 9800 GTX is no longer recognized by my computer. As a result it doesn't recognize my monitor specifics either. When I look under Device Manager it doesn't have a listing for display adapters at all. There is a new entry under "Other devices" labeled "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)". When I reboot or "scan for new hardware" it trys to download drivers but fails. When I try to manually update the driver I get a message:

The system cannot find the filed specified."
I've tried everything including updating my BIOS, updating my mainboard drivers, downloading current WQHL certified graphics drivers, uninstalling any and all drivers related to NVIDIA, etc with no luck. I have a feeling there is something simple that I'm not doing but I have no idea what it is.I can't play any games because the system "Failed to find a suitable display device. Exiting program."
Two days ago I deleted a few shortcuts from my desktop, now everytime I even try to go to IE, a windows pops up asking me which program do I want to use to open IE - this is happening everytime I try to open a new window and for exapmple i want to go to Google... Also, one of the shortcuts i deleted is Skype, now if I try to open Skype from the icon I have on the bottom toolbar or form the Start menu, a window pops up saying that it doesn't recognise the program - any ideas of what I've done wrong and if there is a solution??

Is there a compatible driver for it (which I doubt) or is there an alternative adapter?
That's all Vista says when I print a photo. Why doesn't it see my default printer? I can download a third party viewer and print from it but it's a nuisance and I haven't found one I like.

I have them both shared however I can not get my laptop to conect to either one I see the printers on the network but every time I tell them to add I get a message telling me I typed the name wrong I didn't type a name I chose a printer from the list. I allso have the same problem trying to connect my desktop to my wifes printer. I have spent hours on the phone with HP and they couldnot resolve the problem.

After 17-documented hours with HP Tech Support and now my 3rd Replacement Printer, It still doesn't work right. After working properly for a "few days" it is now only printing partial pages. Printing will omit some text but prints other parts. I have been told by HP that its a WINDOWS problem/bug that they won't fix. I was told the configuration in the Operating System via the Rediscovery Service through Administrative Tools would require a computer person to fix it. Their tech. support supposedly did that with me (took 2 hours) and he promised my problem was solved. I am now experiencing the same problem. HP blames Windows and Windows Blames HP. I work from home and I need my printer to work. Often times, the printer shows offline and won't print at all. You'd think 2 HP Products would work seemlessly together. Fraid not. Any solutions? I have installed and reinstalled the original cd for the printer and that temporarily cures the problem. There has to be a glitch somewhere.

I cant see them in 'My Computer' or the 'device manager'. I don't no if this has anything to do with it but at the same time I also installed a new TV tuner into the computer and now I cant run the CD to fully install it.

I have spent so much time on this already. I had Lexmark all-in-one X5260 and an old Epson printer installed on my Vista Business Sony Vaio laptop without problem since early 2008. Yesterday I removed the old Epson, with problems, as it had a test print still in the spooler. Since then I have had ???Spooler SubSystem App??? problems and been unable to re-install or print from the Lexmark. I did System Restore back to the day before I removed the Epson printer. I carefully removed the Epson printer. Still no printing with Lexmark. I have followed the recommendations of many of the posts here, especially ???Spooler SubSystem App??? with Alan Morris and Eddie. I uninstalled Lexmark. I followed the procedure recommended in and presumed I deleted the drivers and spoolers.
However I was unable to do the ???net stop spooler??? and ???net stop spooler???. I got the response ???System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied???. In Command Prompt I was not at the root directory, I was at C:UsersVaio. (Vaio is my user name.) I am the only user of this laptop and my printer is plugged into a USB port, not networked. I then tried to install from the Lexmark 5200 Series CD. Before getting to the ???detecting your printer??? phase, I got the Spooler SubSystem App closed error message. Lexmark 5200 now appears in my printers but a test page print or doc print does not work.
I have a senior friend with a Lexmark 8350 AIO (Vista drivers available)installed via USB on a XP home laptop. The XP laptop sees the internet via an ethernet connection to a Belkin wireless router. The XP Lexmark XP Driver software was installed and the printer worked fine. He shared the printer in XP. He hs another laptop loaded with Vista Home Premium that he has connected wirelessly via the Belkin router. Both computers are on the same workgroup. He can see folders and files files of each computer on the other computer. When he tried to set up Lexmark as a network printer in the Vista laptop, he sees the share name but the print wizard fails with a code 0x0000000d. Based upon comments located here
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Home Premium SP2 with 2 GB of RAM, all WU's, Firefox, MBAM, SuperAntiSpywareProfessional, CCleaner, Spybot, CA Security Suite, and WLM. The machine's running just great but after the last restart (to complete the uninstall of Ad-Aware) my little Lexmark All-In-One printer icon is missing from the notification area. It's usually placed right next to my network icon. I've tried restarting the service (an app called `lxcz_device') using `services.msc' but to no avail. The printer works just fine. how to get that icon back again without doing another restart?

Vista is able to locate the printer on the network but when I select it for installation, for some time, Vista tries to connect and then pops up this message: "Failed Connecting to Printer - Access Denied" And then another window pops up with this message: "Spooler Subsystem Application stopped woring and has been closed." In fact the spooler service always stops, so I have to restart it on the services windows, within Administrative Tools of the Control Panel. The machine is new and has been installed yesterday. Everything else works fine. The printer I am trying to install is on a Windows XP Professional machine within the same network (naturally).
