I was trying to change the appearance (using Vista Basic), have not idea what I did, but now all my text windows are light gray, the text is somewhat blurry and has a gray show tail after everything making very hard to read on my homepage and in Microsoft Mail.

Anyway, ever since I got it back to normal, the views in folders keep changing randomly. In my documents I always have the view as small icons.But now that's gone and it's just got them lined up in a single line. How can I fix it? And why do the appearances of all my folders keep changing randomly?

I only suffer feint text (looks like ink is running out on printed paper) on certain things ie. The Spybot home page or some windows when down loading stuff from the net. Is there a tweak that brings ALL text up clean and clear?
View 5 Replies View RelatedProblem is with an Acer 5103 laptop running Vista Home Premium. After several months of fairly satisfactory operation apart from the normal unexpected shutdowns there is now a more serious problem. When online the fonts in drop down boxes are so small as to be almost unreadable. On the Google start page the "Google Search/I feel lucky" text is very small as is the text when I type in the search box. I thought this was a browser problem until I came to use Excel today and found the column widths had closed right down and the column letters and row numbers were very small.I have checked in "Advanced Appearance" and all the settings seem correct. The computer is not one I normally use but it seems to me that the whole appearance of the display is rather unusual, but this may be because I am used to XP.

I have MS Office Home and Student 2007. My computer is a PowerSpec 32-bit with 2 GB of RAM and my monitor is an Acer 17? All of this was purchased about four months ago.
On 6-1-2008, when I turned on my computer I was notified of two MS updates (I do not use automatic updating), and installed them:
* Update for Windows Vista (KB947562)
* Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.33.9770.6)
My computer installed and then automatically shut down and re-started........
I just installed SP1 on my OEM Windows Vista Home Premium HP A1654n. After completing the installation, Aero is gone and is nolonger listed in the Windows Color and Appearance dialog. It was working perfectly minutes ago..

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed software called 'Tune Up Utilites 2010' and immediately found a vast improvement and one its recommendations was to increase resolution to 1680 x 1050. Having then done that in 'Display Properties' it then advises to 'Set dpi to 96'.
However, I cannot find how to make changes to dpi.
I am new here and not sure if I am posting this in the correct area but I could not find a catagory that fits my question. If anyone can tell me a better place to post this, that would be great. I have set my account's name to my desired name but when I go to the Users folder it still lists my user account as the default name. Is there any way to change this?

Quite often I try to change or update the names of a folder, and Vista would not let me allow, and I get dialog boxes telling me that I cannot have access, or do not have persmission, etc, and I get these denials even after I closed all the other files. It gets annoying that I get the "NO" after I already typed the new names. I am the only person who have access to this home PC. How can I change this so the computer will let me change names anytime I want to?

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
But all of a sudden, I cant. I talked to my ISP and they say that nothing change on their side and I still have a dynamic IP. I believe that maybe one of the updates is responsible for this, I update to SP1 and almost every update exist for vista. So, my question is, do you know maybe on an update that can cause this?
is there any way I change the settings in IE7, whenever it opens a new window, it is not maximized to the full screen size. I would ideally prefer all new windows to open as tabs in my current browser, and not as new pop up windows.
