What Is Pci Express 2.0, Will It Work With Regular?
Mar 22, 2009i have a nvdia 6150se nforce 430. when ever i say that, what is nforce? HP and Compaq Desktop PCs that my mobo specs. as u can see i have a pci express open. (what is pci express 2.0, will it work with regular?) if i upgrade, and buy a pci express, do i just plug it in, install driver, what about my intergreated graphic card?

Jul 15, 2009i tried to use Nokia maps loader and got error. after bit of researching i found out that im missing Tahoma font. I have tahoma bold but no tahoma normal. I have no idea why its missing. I tried to copy it from my laptop with vista but i cant do it (don`t have needed permissions). Only solution i have found is to buy it for 30$. but that`s not and option. Im running Vista ultimate 64 bit.

Jun 8, 2008I am in the Administrator group on my own network, i am also in the Admin group of the local Vista pc, connected to a 2003 server. For some reason i do not have any Admin rights when i log on to the server. It treats me as a regular user, I think. I can't change security settings, can't install any programs, can't browse the network. Is this the way Vista is supposed to work or is something broken? And how do i get real Admin privileges?

Mar 23, 2008There's a mystery drive partition on my system. confirm what it's used for/by? I'm running a triple boot of Server x64 RC2, Vista x64 SP1 RC, and Vista x86, installed on two internal hard disk drives. These are SATA drives, but not hybrids. They both have 8MB caches. (One is a Samsung HM250JI. The other is a Hitachi TravelStar 7K100.) I also have 1GB of Intel's Robson NAND. Now, in Disk Management, a 513MB (sic) FAT32 partition is there, called NVCACHE. It's listed as its own HDD, sandwiched between HDD 0 and HDD 1. So, there are two possible explanations as far as I can see: 1st candidate explanation: There's an Intel page that discusses Turbo Memory, which uses the "NVCACHE" term when describing its support for Vista ReadyDrive and "T13 specification Command Handling," which I had assumed applied just to hybrid hard drives, not to regular HDDs.
The other thing that's fishy is the 513MB cache size. Where'd the remaining 511MB go if this system has a full 1GB Robson NAND? Was I gyped out of 512MB of NAND? 2nd candidate explanation: This has something to do with the SATA caching functionality that I have enabled in the x86 partition. [See: Device Manager -> Disk Drives -> right-click on a SATA drive -> Properties -> Policies -> Enable Write Caching on the Disk -> Enable Advanced Performance.] If that's the purpose, then the question is: Do I need to confine my use of the SATA cache to one OS installation, or am I safe to enable this function in all of the OSes simultaneously? (Will overwrites by different OSes of each others' caches destabilize the system or not?)
DEP Closes Internet Explorer 8
Oct 2, 2009I just installed IE8 today, finally, after a clean boot and everything went great and seemed to run great. I selected a few add ons but only those shown and recommended within the IE8 tour. I do not have Google Tool Bar. Actually, everything seemed to be working fine and then later in the day I downloaded and installed History Killer Pro. I don't know if this could cause a problem or not. It's Vista compatible. It seems I can open IE8 and use it fine for the most part, but for instance, I used the snipping tool to make a screen shot snip and when I open that from my desktop where it was saved as a gif, IE closes every time.

Nov 23, 2009Following the instructions to fix this doesn't work because everytime I try to do something I get a window that asks for a password for "ASP.NET Machine Account". I have no idea what the password for this account is and leaving it blank doesn't work. I have a standard login now that won't allow me to create a new account of any sort nor can I make changes to my standard user account without permission from the ASP.NET Machine Account.

Feb 14, 2009I had been using the true admin account to do my everyday work (now i know i shouldn't have) also had my old admin account (both password protected) and lastnight i decided to change my SID using the NewSid program just for kicks and giggles.. the first time around it just sat there for a couple hours not managing anything but to open a new account.. the ASP.net machine account... since i had no idea what it was or what it did i chose to delete it (again, now i know i shouldn't have).. then i tried the NewSid again, only this time it worked.. it did what it was supposed to change registries and hives, and rebooted the system.. only to find out I only had my guest account, my admin and regular account were not showing up at all just the guest one is showing up yet my hard drive is still intact, and I can still see my admin and regular account folders.. just cant access them..

Aug 3, 2009Greetings, running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell system, has 2 optical drives (Blu ray burner, DVD burner). If I open one or both drives, moments later they will close on their own. This only happens when Windows is loaded (that is if I just boot to the BIOS screen and open the drives, they stay open), so Windows must be doing something that's causing the drives to close on their own?Note this is a fresh install of Vista, for various reasons we had to wipe the system and re-install Vista and the Dell drivers from scratch, there's no other updates (including MS Updates) applied - the Vista version is SP1 already though.

Apr 22, 2009I just bought my dad a brand-new laptop computer with Vista 64-bit Home Premium pre-installed. Almost immediately, we started noticing a rather strange problem with this computer. Seemingly at random, the operating system decides that it doesn't want us to select a file in a file dialog window (if I select Open... within an application and then browse to select a document to open, for example), and so it closes the browse dialog a few seconds after it opens, whether or not a file has been selected, and when it does this, the entire application closes as well. For some reason, this dialog seems to make its application crash. I've never seen anything quite like it before.
Sometimes this browse dialog works without any problem. But once it starts happening during a given login session, it will happen every time that dialog appears. Does anyone out there have any clue why this might be happening? The computer is brand-new and has very little software of any kind installed on it other than the crap that comes pre-installed.
Windows Mail Closes Down When Receiving An Email
Sep 16, 2009My problem is that whenever a friend of mine sends me an email, Windows Mail shuts down and I am unable to read the email in time. This has only happened with this one person. Mind you I used to receive her emails with no problem in the past. I don't know why this is happening now. I don't have any problems with anyone elses emails, only this friend.

Now, we can still print but no matter what program we print from... it immediately stops responding and Vista closes the program (IE7, Mail, Office, etc). Tried reinstalling the printer drivers (the latest from canon for vista) with no luck. Have not tried to roll back the SP1 update.

Jun 26, 2008I just upgraded a Lenovo 6075-DNU ThinkCentre desktop from XP Pro to Vista Business SP1. The bizarre thing is, when I close Excel 2003, the "90 degree rotation" from the onboard Intel Video driver is triggered and the screen rotates. If I go into the driver settings and disable the 90 degree turn hotkey, the issue goes away. My concern is why this even happens. I've tried the latest driver from Lenovo and from Intel and repaired the office install and no change. This only happens from Excel, not from Word or any other program and only since the Vista Business sp1 upgrade.
