Installed Canon IR C2620: Can Print But Closes Programs
Mar 23, 2008
We print to a Canon iR C2620 installed on the network. Prior to VSP1 we had no problems. Now, we can still print but no matter what program we print from... it immediately stops responding and Vista closes the program (IE7, Mail, Office, etc). Tried reinstalling the printer drivers (the latest from canon for vista) with no luck. Have not tried to roll back the SP1 update.
Have had the printer for several years and it works flawlessly 3 days ago it suddenly refused to print When I look at the printer folder, it is default but it says it's offline I can't find out how to make it go online
From 'justanswer' I was told to do a restor, so I've tried going back a couple of restores, but they both failed, then had to undo the restores to get back to where I was
In safe mode I removed the printer then added it back by re-installing its software sometimes vista asks me to say which port, but as it's usb plugnplay I dont know how to handle it I've tried resetting the printer from this website http://tricks-collections.com/resetter-printers-canon-pixma-ip1000-ip1200-ip1300-ip1500-ip1600-1700-ip1880-ip2200-ip3000-ip4200-ip5200/.
Vista 32 bit system with Dell 948 AIO Printer Prints test page, prints from Internet Explorer. Cannot print anything from a MS Office program (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc). Can print from all programs when disabling User Account Control (UAC). UAC Enabled did not keep me from getting that nasty malware called Personal Antivirus, so what's the use of having UAC enabled?
i have problem with HP Deskjet 450 under Vista Home Premium. Printer is installed by Vista, everything looks ok, but i can't print. When i want to print Test page, only row of 2-20 smilies is coming out in best case and print job shows error . When i ask HP, they say Microsoft is responsible for drivers. Microsoft says i should ask HP. I slowly begin to be annoyed. Have bought short certified hi-speed USB 2.0 cable. Windows update shows that there is optional update for Other hardware - dj450 USB, dowloaded and it says it is not possible to install, error code: 80070103. Under Win XP are no problems. Is there any solution aside from buying new printer or downgrade to XP?Is there a way to install this update
i was just wondering why i have 4 gig of ram installed on vista, Control Panal/System/Memory (Ram) - 4GB But Program such as Auslogics boost speed and other programs that check the Ram installed, only Pick up 3446.51 MB installed. Every other program says that Digit, why am i not getting the Full 4 Gig, Or how can i make it 4 Gig in total?
I've seen posts describing the /verifyreposition /salvagerepository switches for winmgmt. Verify has always show the repository is consistent. Using the netstop, rename repository, net start approach initially works, but within a day Security Center is reporting multiple antivirus programs again.
I am having a problem with programs that I had downloaded, installed and used disappearing on me the next time I turn on my computer. When I go to the shortcut and click on it, it tells me "the program or file this shortcut refers to has been changed or removed". This is getting extremely annoying. I am unsure what is going on. I am running Windows Vista Basic and Norton 360. This is a brand new laptop (purchased in the last month).
This has been going on for about a week or so now. When I first brought it home, I had no problems whatsoever with downloaded and installed files disappearing, now it seems that every time I download a program this happens. What can I do to fix this? I also have installed Norton 360 on my Windows XP laptop and haven't had this problem there. I am guessing it is a Vista-only problem.
I do not have reinstall option on CD of windows vista, and i have found major problems after i do system restore, I just need to upgrade or doing something to reinstall windows on same folder as CD gives me new installation no upgrade, And i want replace installation to replace files and install windows again and keeping updates and upgrades i done to the windows. also, to keep software installed, i used to do that in windows XP but could not do it in Vista as no option for upgrade, or install windows on same folder so that not losing the files or programs installed.
just recently i installed a program which DIDNT install correctly and through out the setup it gave me an error and i cancelled the setup. now the program sorta installed it self in my comp but it doesnt work due to the setup not finishing, i tried to install it a few times but it keep given me the error...so here is the issue: i really dont want the program and would like to get rid of it... it doesnt show up in the add and remove programs and the unistall.exe in the directory doesnt work. i also have the program called "your uinstaller" and that cant find that program installed either..
yesterday i created a new vista dvd with vLite, because my windows folder was too big. after that i tried to do a "repair/upgrade install", like explained in this tutorial - Repair Install For Vista
as it turned out, it went completly wrong. i reinstalled vista on C: and the old version was moved to the folder Windows.old. obviously not that, what i want to accomplish. so now im online with a new user account - "lost" the user settings from my old user account, the programs are not "installed" anymore.
here is a small comparison of my situation:
- on C: i got now a new fresh windows and the old version in the folder in Windows.old
- Windows.old contains:
-- my old user settings
-- my old programms installed on C: (not a big deal, because i installed almost all programms on E: ---> other problem, see below)
-- the old windows folder himself
- as mentioned above i installed almost all programms on E: - obviously they are still there, but they are not "installed" anymore
so here are my key questions:
1. is there an easy was to transfer my old user settings to the new one?
2. is there an easy was to "install" all the programms on E:, without reinstall all per hand? eg. about registry import or something like that...
i hope it is clear, what my problems are - english is not my native language...
is there a complete correct way to install vista /windows 7 64bit and keep all of 32bit installed programs and files in there orginal place? Its taken more than a year to get all of the settings and programs to this condition and i now need to upgrade to 64bit so that i can use all of that extra RAM.! any ideas on the way ahead would be most
i have installed a printer from my main pc which uses xp pro to my new vista lap top ----- it shows the icon for the printer in the tray but i cannot still print any thing
In my 64-bit installation, the print spooler server suddenly stopped running (and will not restart). I've tried cleaning out registry keys (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPrint), deleting the files out of Windows (C:WindowsSystem32spool) to no avail. The system log contains many of these:Error Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider7034None The application log contains these:WarningSpoolerSpoolss1035NoneThe print spooler failed to load print provider localspl.dll. This can occur because of system instability or a lack of system resources.ErrorSpoolerSpoolss1027None The system failed to initialize the local print provider: Error 0. This can occur because of system instability or a lack of system resources.
running vista 64 SP1 RTM cannot print from IE nor print preview unless I turn UAC off in control panel. Cannot print even if opening IE as admin. (some sort of error message about C:/users/username/appdata/local/temp/low/ and some files therein.) Note, on a different machine with vista 32 SP1 beta2 refresh (never got around to installing SP1 RTM on this box) - UAC enabled and no print problem at all
We have recently got new hardware and upgraded to Vista. We have also just changed to fully networked printing. We are having some printing funnies, but mainly when printing from Excel - no idea why. Here is a selection of the printing problems we have had:
File-Print: Print dialog does not appear File-Print/Print: Does not print, no printing message File-Print/Print: Looks like it prints to printer (see printing message), but nothing prints out...........................................................................
I just installed IE8 today, finally, after a clean boot and everything went great and seemed to run great. I selected a few add ons but only those shown and recommended within the IE8 tour. I do not have Google Tool Bar. Actually, everything seemed to be working fine and then later in the day I downloaded and installed History Killer Pro. I don't know if this could cause a problem or not. It's Vista compatible. It seems I can open IE8 and use it fine for the most part, but for instance, I used the snipping tool to make a screen shot snip and when I open that from my desktop where it was saved as a gif, IE closes every time.
Greetings, running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell system, has 2 optical drives (Blu ray burner, DVD burner). If I open one or both drives, moments later they will close on their own. This only happens when Windows is loaded (that is if I just boot to the BIOS screen and open the drives, they stay open), so Windows must be doing something that's causing the drives to close on their own?Note this is a fresh install of Vista, for various reasons we had to wipe the system and re-install Vista and the Dell drivers from scratch, there's no other updates (including MS Updates) applied - the Vista version is SP1 already though.
My Vista Explorer (desktop) experienced a problem and closes after which it re-opens, and then closes again. It carry on indefinitely so I cannot do any thing on my PC. Take note - it is not IE!
when i type something in the Run command e.g ipconfig it opens and closes immediatly, if i type msconfig it opens perfectly and doesn't close. any1 know why it closes when i type ipconfig?
Wondering if anyone has come across this. Can't find much info on the web. The following file runs on startup c:program files (x86)common filesportrait displayspluginsAMdtwmihelper.exe Do I need this? How can I get rid of it?
I just bought my dad a brand-new laptop computer with Vista 64-bit Home Premium pre-installed. Almost immediately, we started noticing a rather strange problem with this computer. Seemingly at random, the operating system decides that it doesn't want us to select a file in a file dialog window (if I select Open... within an application and then browse to select a document to open, for example), and so it closes the browse dialog a few seconds after it opens, whether or not a file has been selected, and when it does this, the entire application closes as well. For some reason, this dialog seems to make its application crash. I've never seen anything quite like it before.
Sometimes this browse dialog works without any problem. But once it starts happening during a given login session, it will happen every time that dialog appears. Does anyone out there have any clue why this might be happening? The computer is brand-new and has very little software of any kind installed on it other than the crap that comes pre-installed.
My problem is that whenever a friend of mine sends me an email, Windows Mail shuts down and I am unable to read the email in time. This has only happened with this one person. Mind you I used to receive her emails with no problem in the past. I don't know why this is happening now. I don't have any problems with anyone elses emails, only this friend.
Just for information, I have a Canon LiDE 50 scanner and it seems that Canon will not be making a Vista 64bit driver for it, as I'm presuming it's too old. Just tried to use the Vista 64bit driver for the Canon LiDE 60 scanner and that works perfectly.
I recently started supporting a remote site of 4 vista, 1 xp 2 mac users. They have a networked HPCP1515n printer. Original vista users are fine they can print to it but two new users to this printer cannot get vista to detect the printer. When I run the network install drivers they get the following: error 1327.Invalid Drive z:. I have tried the usb install but that fails similiarly too. Vista does not detect the printer but older users who were connected are fine. I have tried installing from local c: all fail. i have tried older versions of the driver all fail. The users have profiles set up to z: Attached is a screen shot of the error
I updated my driver for this printer in order to use it with a new VISTA computer. In doing this, my XP laptop, can no longer use this printer. Is there a simple solution to this?
I just upgraded a Lenovo 6075-DNU ThinkCentre desktop from XP Pro to Vista Business SP1. The bizarre thing is, when I close Excel 2003, the "90 degree rotation" from the onboard Intel Video driver is triggered and the screen rotates. If I go into the driver settings and disable the 90 degree turn hotkey, the issue goes away. My concern is why this even happens. I've tried the latest driver from Lenovo and from Intel and repaired the office install and no change. This only happens from Excel, not from Word or any other program and only since the Vista Business sp1 upgrade.
When I try to paste anything into an email, Windows Mail stops working and closes down. Not sure if I have accidentally adjusted any setting recently. It also happens if I try to do the same when pasting to emails using Hotmail.
I can plug my Canon camera into my two XP computers and the one at work, and they all instanly see the camera and the pictures.
Not my Vista-64. It never opens. Is there some trick in Vista-64 to see USB camera devices? It can instantly see all other USB devices, and I have many. It's only the camera that won't open.
