Cannot Delete Tahoma Font

Jun 12, 2008

I want to delete the Tahoma font from the Fonts folder in Vista and instead manage it with a font program I have installed so that I can activate and deactivate it as required. Vista won't allow me to delete it, instead this message appears: "This action can't be completed because the file is open in another program Close the file and try again". During the delete process I have all programs closed. I have tried deleting with certain processes not running but still no luck. Is there any way to determine which program is using the font? Any ideas how I can delete it?

Find The Font Folder, So That I Can Copy A Font Onto A Disk

Feb 23, 2009

I am trying to find the font folder, so that I can copy a font onto a disk to put onto my laptop. In other versions of Windows its C:windowsfonts, which it appears to be in Vista, but once in C:Windows I cannot find the fonts folder. If I go through the control panel to the fonts folder it will not let me copy the front from there. It will let me right click the font to copy, but not let me paste onto a memory stick. I have already got into Folder options and made sure that Hidden files are visible.

Treating Admin As Regular User?

Jun 8, 2008

I am in the Administrator group on my own network, i am also in the Admin group of the local Vista pc, connected to a 2003 server. For some reason i do not have any Admin rights when i log on to the server. It treats me as a regular user, I think. I can't change security settings, can't install any programs, can't browse the network. Is this the way Vista is supposed to work or is something broken? And how do i get real Admin privileges?

Hybrid Hard Drives Not Regular HDD

Mar 23, 2008

There's a mystery drive partition on my system. confirm what it's used for/by? I'm running a triple boot of Server x64 RC2, Vista x64 SP1 RC, and Vista x86, installed on two internal hard disk drives. These are SATA drives, but not hybrids. They both have 8MB caches. (One is a Samsung HM250JI. The other is a Hitachi TravelStar 7K100.) I also have 1GB of Intel's Robson NAND. Now, in Disk Management, a 513MB (sic) FAT32 partition is there, called NVCACHE. It's listed as its own HDD, sandwiched between HDD 0 and HDD 1. So, there are two possible explanations as far as I can see: 1st candidate explanation: There's an Intel page that discusses Turbo Memory, which uses the "NVCACHE" term when describing its support for Vista ReadyDrive and "T13 specification Command Handling," which I had assumed applied just to hybrid hard drives, not to regular HDDs.

The other thing that's fishy is the 513MB cache size. Where'd the remaining 511MB go if this system has a full 1GB Robson NAND? Was I gyped out of 512MB of NAND? 2nd candidate explanation: This has something to do with the SATA caching functionality that I have enabled in the x86 partition. [See: Device Manager -> Disk Drives -> right-click on a SATA drive -> Properties -> Policies -> Enable Write Caching on the Disk -> Enable Advanced Performance.] If that's the purpose, then the question is: Do I need to confine my use of the SATA cache to one OS installation, or am I safe to enable this function in all of the OSes simultaneously? (Will overwrites by different OSes of each others' caches destabilize the system or not?)

I had been using the true admin account to do my everyday work (now i know i shouldn't have) also had my old admin account (both password protected) and lastnight i decided to change my SID using the NewSid program just for kicks and giggles.. the first time around it just sat there for a couple hours not managing anything but to open a new account.. the ASP.net machine account... since i had no idea what it was or what it did i chose to delete it (again, now i know i shouldn't have).. then i tried the NewSid again, only this time it worked.. it did what it was supposed to change registries and hives, and rebooted the system.. only to find out I only had my guest account, my admin and regular account were not showing up at all just the guest one is showing up yet my hard drive is still intact, and I can still see my admin and regular account folders.. just cant access them..

Easy Way To Convert Mod/Tod Video To Regular Video

Jun 5, 2009

who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I have tried many video converters software with no luck so far, it?ll get halfway through the process, and then something will fail. Now a type of converter called *'Mod Converter' appears. Here I want to share the one regarded as the best on the market by most people. I also want to share the instructions about how to use it. Step 0: Free download *'4easysoft Mod Converter 'and install it. ...........

Font Sizes

Apr 8, 2009

I don't know if anyone can help me, but I was wondering something. I just got this laptop 7 months from a friend. I was wondering why the smallest font size on this thing is only 8? Is there anyway to add any font sizes smaller than 8. I need at least a 6. It is this way for every font. And i have the same problem on my desktop and it's still XP. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Font Size

Jul 29, 2009

I edited the registry and either modified or deleted a line
regarding font size.

Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or
Yahoo Mail.

I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything,
the size reverts to 12.

I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all
work.

I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not possible
as it's inseparable from Vista.

I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems.

The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry
line I screwed up.

Font Size Vs DPI?

Jun 20, 2009

is there's an equivalent to XP's Display Font Size in Vista? In XP Display Properties, Appearance tab we can change Font size to Large or Extra Large. This is useful for people who want high resolution desktops but find it hard to read small text (without sitting really close which is bad for eyes). I know there's a DPI setting in Vista just as there is in XP, but it's not the same as Font size.

Font Sizes Had Grown By At Least 100%

I am really tired of Vista deciding what it wants to do with no input from me. This time all the font sizes in the display windows decided to grow larger. In reality I would like to get rid of Vista and go back to XP--there I didn't have to worry what it was thinking up to do today

Times New Roman Font Not Installed?

May 26, 2010

OS: Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Office 2003

When a client asked me to do a document using Times New Roman 12, I
discovered that Vista did not have that font (it didn't appear in my font
list nor was it available in Word), so I downloaded and installed it from a
file called Times32.exe. I had to manually extract the TTF files from the
archive because running the exe didn't install the font, even though the
installer said it had. When I used Vista's Add New Font and specified the
actual TTF files, Vista said they were already installed, and THEN Times
New Roman appeared in Vista's font list and in Word 2003.

Now I have Word 2003 telling me that I'm using Times New Roman, but it
doesn't look like Times New Roman on my screen nor on paper. It comes out
in both places looking like Tahoma, which is what I set up to be my default
font in Word.

At first I thought it might be a problem with the template (.dot) file I
was using for my client, so I created a blank new document using Normal.dot
and set the font to Times New Roman. It looked like Times New Roman on my
screen, but on paper it looked like Tahoma.

Do I need to find a special edition of Times New Roman specifically for
64-bit Vista? Why is what I see not what I get?
