i tried to use Nokia maps loader and got error. after bit of researching i found out that im missing Tahoma font. I have tahoma bold but no tahoma normal. I have no idea why its missing. I tried to copy it from my laptop with vista but i cant do it (don`t have needed permissions). Only solution i have found is to buy it for 30$. but that`s not and option. Im running Vista ultimate 64 bit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to delete the Tahoma font from the Fonts folder in Vista and instead manage it with a font program I have installed so that I can activate and deactivate it as required. Vista won't allow me to delete it, instead this message appears: "This action can't be completed because the file is open in another program Close the file and try again". During the delete process I have all programs closed. I have tried deleting with certain processes not running but still no luck. Is there any way to determine which program is using the font? Any ideas how I can delete it?

Just the other day the font seems to have gone missing and all the programs I use, such as Adobe Photoshop say that the font is missing and has been replaced. View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the font folder, so that I can copy a font onto a disk to put onto my laptop. In other versions of Windows its C:windowsfonts, which it appears to be in Vista, but once in C:Windows I cannot find the fonts folder. If I go through the control panel to the fonts folder it will not let me copy the front from there. It will let me right click the font to copy, but not let me paste onto a memory stick. I have already got into Folder options and made sure that Hidden files are visible.

I am told I can install this free font and others, but don't know how. I went to microsofts free font downloads and got a zip but how do I get the font files into my programs. View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen you have a relatively new OEM product (in this case an NVIDIA motherboard) and the computer manufacturer doesn't seem to care that you are missing Vista drivers, ultimately how do you ever get through to the company? Every time I put this desktop to sleep, when I wake it up there's no Internet connection. I must fully restart the machine each and every time in order to get an Internet connection.
(I'm running a cable modem situation in a home office. I do have a router, but bypassing the router entirely does not change the situation.) The manufacturer has confirmed that this is a motherboard problem (NVIDIA's nForce 680i SLI). More specifically, they say that NVIDIA has not released an updated Vista driver to correct the situation. This situation has been ongoing for at least 8 months. Because the motherboard is an OEM product, NVIDIA won't talk with me directly. The same is true for Microsoft.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PC has two hard drives. Windows gave me the option on boot up of proceeding with either Windows XP or Windows Vista home basic which worked fine. I then Ultimate 32 bit over the XP installation and again all seemed ok. However, the other morning I switched on the pc and got the dreaded Bootmgr is missing message. I have tried fixing using the vista disc but when it says select the OS to repair nothing is showing. If i click next and then choose the repair option it goes through the process and then you reboot but the problem still remains. I have also tried the command prompt options but they make no difference either. The Bios recognises both my hard drives are there ok.
View 6 Replies View Relatedive just reinstalled vista 64bit home premium i downloaded it from a torrent and then validated with my key im coming from 64bit windows 7 where i had 6 gbs of ram all showing up and in use but since ive reinstalled vista half of my RAM is missing i have it running dual channel one set with 4 gbs and the other set 2 gbs the 4 gbs is corsair 800 mhz and the 2 is stock memory whats also 800mhz i was gonna ditch the 2 when i bought the corsair ram recently but decided to keep both sets because my WEI score was 6.4 with just the corsair ram 4gbs but went uptoo 7.2 when i added the other stock ram and both sets were running flawlessly together ive tried both sets on there own and both are working in either slot on motherboard when i just used the 2 gbs it showed up something like 1980 ram in or something and when i just used the 4 set it was showing the same amount as the picture above i was thinking ive got some fake 64bit vista but 64bit programs work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedVista has been corrupted. With previous versions of Windows it was an easy fix to just reinstall right on top of current installation - I called it an overlay. Any missing/corrupted .dll things were put right and I got to keep my data. Anyone know whether this will work with Vista? Also, this is a Gateway pc and they have some crazy partitions with a backup section that I think is just a space waster.

I somehow manged to fix the problem and had completely forgotten about it until the other day.

It sort of fixed my hibernation, now the Start Menu power button would hibernate, but more importantly the 9 second freezes started up again. I quickly ran the Hibernation File Cleaner in Disk Cleanup which is apparently what removed the hibernation option in the first place, but no luck, hibernation was now gone and the freezes still continued....................

I don't know if anyone can help me, but I was wondering something. I just got this laptop 7 months from a friend. I was wondering why the smallest font size on this thing is only 8? Is there anyway to add any font sizes smaller than 8. I need at least a 6. It is this way for every font. And i have the same problem on my desktop and it's still XP. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Since then all my html messages use size 12 in Windows Mail, Live Mail, or
Yahoo Mail.
I can specify the use of a different size, but as soon as I type anything,
the size reverts to 12.
I can change any other attribute such as face, bold, etc. and they all
work.
I would like to reinstall Windows Mail but I understand that's not possible
as it's inseparable from Vista.
I've run sfc /scannow and there are no problems.
The only solution that seems possible it to fix or replace that registry
line I screwed up.
Incoming email is difficult to read because of age and font size. Have checked out ideas on Goggle and Windows "Help and Support". Either I'm too thick or the suggestions are no longer applicable. I'm using Vista, IE 8 and Windows mail.

This is useful for people who want high resolution desktops but find it hard to read small text (without sitting really close which is bad for eyes). I know there's a DPI setting in Vista just as there is in XP, but it's not the same as Font size.

It was fine when I turned off the PC, but when I turned it on the next day all the font sizes had grown by at least 100%. I tried to change the size of the font, but that did not work. In reality I would like to get rid of Vista and go back to XP--there I didn't have to worry what it was thinking up to do today

When I try, the Copy function is present but when I attempt to paste to another location on the same computer so that I can eventually email the font as an attachment, the Paste function is grayed out. Tried it on a friend's computer and her situation is the same. Her computer is also Vista 64 bit. On my computer, I am the Administrator and sole user.
