screen and somehow the icons for my programs on the toolbar moved to the
middle of the toolbar and the icons showing "open programs" moved to the
left of the toolbar. It used to be reversed - programs icons on the
left and open programs in the middle. How do I get that back the way it
was?

I knew they could not get rid of XP and force vista-crapista on to everyone. XP will not leave at all, until windows7 is out. And if windows 7 is like vista. well bye bye microsoft, ubuntu (new release today by the way) and MAC OSX
View 5 Replies View RelatedBallmer says MS will keep XP if there is customer feedback, but he says he is not getting any to keep it. How to I send him or MS an email asking them to keep selling and supporting XP? Vista (I have it and do not use it) is a DOG and bloated resource hogging POS. XP is the greatest OS MS ever produced and I would like to give Ballmer that feedback.

Whenever I play a game after about 1 minute the screen artifacts, go's black then goes back to the game screen. This happens every minute or so.
On returning to windows there is an error notification stating "atikmdag stopped responding then recovered".
I have trailed the net looking for a fix and haven't found anything. I have cleaned the drivers out and installed the latest 7.10 catalyst suite.
My system spec is as follows.
OS Windows Vista Premium 64bit
AMD 64 Athlon x2 6400+
Asus Crosshair MoBo
2 GB pc2 - 6400 RAM
MSI ATI R2600XT Diamond 512mb ddr4 (this is the offending article i think)
700w EZ Cool PSU
I have contacted MSi and ATI/AMD, both don't have an answer to the problem.

Using Windows98 when surfing, one did not have to save every picture (a sometimes laborious process), as they could be easily recovered from the Temporary Internet Files folder. One just searched the T'I'F' Folder for jpg's of a certain approximate size and date/time (and name), and then copy/pasted them into wherever. Also, saving individual pictures whan surfing was easier as a "save" icon appeared at the top left corner of the picture when the mouse pointer passed over it. How do I use these facilities in Vista?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWill some kind person advise on how to remove fonts from the file in Vista Home? I am running Office 2003 on my laptop, and the Fonts file has MANY fonts installed, the vast number of which I do not want. Simple things in life are generally best. In XP I could simply click on any font, check to see if it was required, then delete, keeping the numbers down to a select few. Now in Vista, I am informed that it is not allowed to remove most of the fonts in the file for some unknown.

Except, now I an't connect to my 2wire router. It has been super frustratiing for me because i search the internet looking for solutions and can't find any that has worked for me. I've updated my drivers on my laptop, my router has the top newest firmware.
The weird part is, I onnected perfectly before I restored and my sister who has a Toshiba also (hers is a little bit newer) connects fine. My itouch connects fine. When i connect to a neighbors WEP wifi it connects (i just cant use it cause i dont know the key). I can connect to my 2wire using a ethernet cable (which is what im doing now). The error i get is: Log Name: System..........

Yeah, well it turns out that was just a joke. Microsoft returned to its iron curtain ways today with the following statement issued in the wake of XP-Gate: "Our plan for Windows XP availability is unchanged," a Microsoft spokesperson said. "We're confident that's the right thing to do based on the feedback we've heard from our customers and partners." Well. There you go.

View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I did a Windows update back in July, my video card has been acting up. While I'm using the computer the image on the screen starts breaking up, then I get a black screen. I have to force the computer for a shut down. After so many re starts I get a message saying "Display Driver Stopped working and has recovered.
I can use the computer for a little while, and then I get the same problem again. I took my computer to fix when I started experiencing this problem. All they did was clean the fan they said the video cards was good. I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9339 bought in June 2007. Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 4 GB Ram 32 bit Internet Explorer 7. I know a few people here had the same problem. Did someone found the fix for it?
i just joined this forum in hopes of finding an answer to my problem, i have also searched the posts relating to my problem. A few days ago my pc was dropped of a stand with the monitor and everything connected. The onboard gfx does not work anymore (nVIDIA 6100 Geforce 405) and the plug is loose so i installed a nVIDIA 6200 Geforce PCI card, everything is fine till i go to run a high graphics game like WoW or SecondLife.
They work for a few seconds then the screen gets all messed up then goes off and back on, then a Hazard Sign in the System Tray pops up that says "Display Driver has stopped responding and has Recovered". Now i know enough to solve certain issues but this has me stumped, i've updated my drivers, even lowered the resolution to try to get the game to work but it does the same thing, now ive had this card in before a few months back, worked fine, then i took it out and went back to the onboard gfx. now the PCI card is giving me issues.
I have seen a couple of threads talking about similar topics but none of them provided a solution. My vista 64 home premium worked fine until last week. All applications started without problems and I was happy. One day, I tried to click on some recently launched applications (such as Firefox which is my default internet browser) but this time, it didn't launch When double-clicking, nothing was happening...
I tried with many other applications, even the Windows Vista ones such as media player and... the same... VLC media player, Firefox, Avira (my antivirus), IE 32 bits,... nothing launches! The only apps apparently not impacted are IE7 64bit, Notepad and Comodo (firewall). Both Windows Defender and Firewall are up and running but nothing happens when I deactivate Comodo and Windows defender/firewall. Still the same. I don't know if this is related to a previous update installation (it's on automatic) but I can't make use of my laptop in such conditions.
