PC Freeze During Capture With Windows Movie Maker
Jul 18, 2005When I use Windows Movie Maker to capture from my DV camcorder, the CPU is at 100 % and the fan is always working. Then, after approximately 5 minutes of capture, my PC freeze and I have to reboot it. Then I see that a 39 MB video file (.wmv) and a 468 MB .tmp file have been created.I have a notebook 2.4 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. I have ordered a notebook cooler but it will come in about 2 weeks.I tried to capture my video with the Samsung software coming with my camcorder, it worked, the CPU was low during the capture but the video

Jul 7, 2005easiest way i can capture video's off my DV Camcorder into windows movie marker and if i can, have it automatically split the clips up into 4.2 gig sized movies..(the reason being i have a movie thats 8 or 10 gigs long, and i want to cut it into slices that will fit just right onto a dvdr) there is a check box when your recording the movie that says "make clips when finished" or something like that and it just seems to split my movie in half i think? i'm not really sure...Also does WMM copy the information DIRECTLY from the tape digitally to the computer so what i have is an EXACT copy of what was on the camcorder? (i.e. the FPS and screen size and image quality are the EXACT SAME? no gen loss?)..

This error is driving me nuts.
Not matter what drive I select, no matter what files I use as a source, I STILL GET THIS ERROR.
I have 2 hard drives, one with 35 gigs free space, the other with 90 gigs of free space. I have 2 gigs of RAM. AMD 64 3700+ processor.

Now, my o/s (Win XP Pro SP2) and Office 2003 has all the latest updates completed (no failures). Why and how would I download SP2 with Movie Maker 2.1 when I already have SP2? When I connect it to my PC using either the fire wire or USB connections, and commence video capture using either WinDVD Creator (Version 2.0B014.183C2W) or Nero Vision Express 2, I get lots of audio breakup as the video is being captured and during playback in the editing function. When I use Movie Maker, I do not get the audio breakup (unfortunately MM doesn't allow me to create DVDs).I defragged my HD with no effect. Later this week, my brother will be bringing his Sony camcorder so I can see if I get the same results using the same tapes. In the meantime, does anyone have any idea why this is happening? What's frustrating is that I did not have this problem when using the same PC, software and a DAC-100 capture device connected to a VCR.

I'm having some jitter in the capture of video through VIVO that I'm attributing to too many services running at once and using up so much resource. I can see it well enough in the final DVD production being played on a home DVD player that it is annoying. I can easily suspend the usual programs like anti-virus and such but there are a boatload of other services that run. Sep 24, 2009I have a Dell Inspiron 5100. Its sevice tag # is H65WK31. It's been running really slowly and had a bunch of stuff on it. When I tried to dfragment and stuff it shut down. In the end, I decided to just strip the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP (which is what it had.) The reinstallation went surprisingly well since I don't know the first thing about computers. At first it wouldn't play sounds or let me add or update Adobe flash or anything. I went into Device manager and found yellow exclamation points beside several thing and updated drivers and that fixed everything except beside Other Devices, it has the yellow exclamation mark. Underneath that, it says Video Controller (VGA compatible) and has a yellow exclamation mark beside it. It won't let me update the drivers. It says "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software." I have a CD that I may or may not have come with this DELL (I have several over the years.) It says it's from ATI. I tried to put it in and go through the cd to update the drivers. I get a message that says the same thing. When I got my computer, it seems like I had an upgrade on the video card, but all that was done before my computer left the factory. As it stands, I have a picture, but it looks like I'm in safe mode.
