When I use Windows Movie Maker to capture from my DV camcorder, the CPU is at 100 % and the fan is always working. Then, after approximately 5 minutes of capture, my PC freeze and I have to reboot it. Then I see that a 39 MB video file (.wmv) and a 468 MB .tmp file have been created.I have a notebook 2.4 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. I have ordered a notebook cooler but it will come in about 2 weeks.I tried to capture my video with the Samsung software coming with my camcorder, it worked, the CPU was low during the capture but the video
captured was of poor quality
I have Windows Movie Maker version 5.1 and it just simply does not show any options for file type in the Save Movie Wizard settings. I do get options that affect file size/resolution but no "Other" settings. Do I have the wrong version of WMM? I'd like to save my movies as .avi files
easiest way i can capture video's off my DV Camcorder into windows movie marker and if i can, have it automatically split the clips up into 4.2 gig sized movies..(the reason being i have a movie thats 8 or 10 gigs long, and i want to cut it into slices that will fit just right onto a dvdr) there is a check box when your recording the movie that says "make clips when finished" or something like that and it just seems to split my movie in half i think? i'm not really sure...Also does WMM copy the information DIRECTLY from the tape digitally to the computer so what i have is an EXACT copy of what was on the camcorder? (i.e. the FPS and screen size and image quality are the EXACT SAME? no gen loss?)..

i made a slide show using windows movie maker and saved it to cd but the cd wont reed in my dvd player the disk i used is a dvd+r i dont know if it makes a differance or is there a certin format i need to use if so how do ichang format and to what?
Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the source files used in your movie are still available, that saving location is still available and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again.
This error is driving me nuts.
Not matter what drive I select, no matter what files I use as a source, I STILL GET THIS ERROR.
I have 2 hard drives, one with 35 gigs free space, the other with 90 gigs of free space. I have 2 gigs of RAM. AMD 64 3700+ processor.
When I go to Microsoft's site for this program I read that it needs to be downloaded with SP2. Now, my o/s (Win XP Pro SP2) and Office 2003 has all the latest updates completed (no failures). Why and how would I download SP2 with Movie Maker 2.1 when I already have SP2? How can I download Movie maker 2.1 on its own?
I recently upgraded my XP to SP2. I have since that time upgraded my hardware and software programs to work on XP2. However there is no upgrade for my movie making program for XP SP2. I lake SP2 since I have worked out the bugs and would like to keep it. Can I Reinstall windows XP on another partition on my hard drive so I can boot to this installation when I work with Adobe premiere(my movie making program) and Pinnacle DV500(my capture card) And if so how big of a partition should I set-up.
I use XP Media Center 2005 Edition and was watching TV while editing a video with Movie Maker 2.1 on the same screen. After several editing the Movie Make became slow and then stopped responding. So I'd like to restore the Movie Maker but it comes with Service Pack 2. Is there anyway the Movie Maker program alone may be deleted and reinstalled without deleting and reinstalling whole SP2 package?
I am using windows XP home edition with office 2003 professional on a Toshiba dynabook. I want to uninstall or disable the Microsoft movie maker, as it is interfering with my professional Adobe Premiere Pro software. I have found no say to this. Every time I plug in my i-link DVD tape drive, I get the absolutely annoying, pop window that asks which software I would like to use to capture from the DVD device. Unfortunately the software I want to use is not listed! I have selected no program and the use for every time check box.
I have been trying to make some family clips and found ou that windows XP brings Movie Maker. I have Windows XP Home eddition. I tried to look in the Accesories/Entertaiment/ folder for the Movie Maker, but it's not there. I went to add/remove windows components, but there is no option to add movie maker. I thought I did not have the software so I went to the xp windows microsoft downloads and look for the movie maker. I tried to down load the package that brings this software but it run and applation to check if I required the download, but it was already installed. So it looks like that it's already installed, but I don't know how to acces it.
Done 3 photo videos in Movie Maker. Two of them work fine. The other gets to one slide and stays there. Music continues to play. I have recopied to Media Player about 6 times.
There is a symptom that I would like to post for help with, but don't know how to do this.I am having trouble with proper font display, and the only way to show what the problem exactly is will require posting it.
until recently i was able to pause the video, press print screen key, then open photoshop and open the image there. now when i try to do it i get the media player, but the screen part of it is black.
Just bought a Canon ZR200 camcorder. When I connect it to my PC using either the fire wire or USB connections, and commence video capture using either WinDVD Creator (Version 2.0B014.183C2W) or Nero Vision Express 2, I get lots of audio breakup as the video is being captured and during playback in the editing function. When I use Movie Maker, I do not get the audio breakup (unfortunately MM doesn't allow me to create DVDs).I defragged my HD with no effect. Later this week, my brother will be bringing his Sony camcorder so I can see if I get the same results using the same tapes. In the meantime, does anyone have any idea why this is happening? What's frustrating is that I did not have this problem when using the same PC, software and a DAC-100 capture device connected to a VCR.
This place is quite active, and I am glad to see that. I own a Dell 4600 Demension computer, it was purchased about a year and a half ago. I recently reinstalled Windows on it, and reinstalled the drivers/utilities that were needed, with the help of a Dell expert. I have Windows XP Home Edition right now. I have the Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE for my spyware protection, and I have the AVG from Grifsoft for my virus protection. I scan my computer every night, and I keep all my databases up-to-date. Recently, my computer was infected with the Trojan Backdoor.SdBot virus, and I looked on the Norton Antiviruses website to get rid of it and fix the computer. So now, at this time, I believe my computer is clean.
I can be doing anything, so not even be around the computer and it freezes, could freeze on the screen saver, or when im on hte internet, or playin a game, or writing an email anything.... not an overheating problem because it has happened say right after its done booting, or 5 mins after running or say 12 hours after being on.... or jsut not freeze seems to be really random
I am new to movie maker. I am trying to capture video from my JVC compact VHS camcorder. I have it connectd via the S-VHS cable. When I go to Capture from video device it says that the device is currenlt in use.

i just got this audio capture device for xmas and i plugged it into the wall then i plugged the usb into my computer. my computer instantly froze then shut off. so i unplugged the device and turned my computer back on. it started booting up fine but then froze and shut itself off. now when i turn it on it sounds like it boots up normal but nothing comes up on the screen. also, when the computer is off, but plugged in, there is a red light on the cd drive and a red light on the keyboard. i think something shorted out but there is no sign of damage on the mobo or ram. im hoping its just the psu, but i really have no idea. here are the complete specs:
