i have XP Home OS laptop pc playing games .whatever he did i don't know he insists he closed it down properly but when i have come to start it up this morning everything on the welcome screen is upside down.is there a quick way to rectify this or is a system restore to previous point the only solution

I was just typing along in a word document when my whole screen on my laptop flipped. File, Edit etc are across the bottom and start and all those things normally across the bottom are on the top - but upside down. The mouse is working backwards as well. MAJOR PAIN. When I restart it, the Windows screen comes up correctly but from the login screen on everything is flipped. Well here is a way to send instant messages to your friends over such networks as long as you have their ip or the name of the computer on the network. An easy way to find a computer's ip address is to type cmd in the run box on your start menu. This will start the command prompt. Type "ipconfig /all" with a space between "ipconfig and /all".That will list the computer's ip address along with other network specs. Now that you have the ip of that computer, you may send instant messages to it.Go to the run command in your start menu. Type cmd in the box which will open the command prompt just like above.Type: net send "ip address" message. If the computer you were trying to send a "Hello" message to had the ip address of 127.10.1.1,you would type "net send 127.10.1.1 Hello" Additionally, it is possible to use a wild card such as * in the ip address parameter. Example: net send * message
The above command will send your message to every computer on your subnet. This is great for system administrators to send out messages to all windows computers on the network notifying them that you are going to be taking down the server or something. However, if you are a student and feel like pulling a prank at school by sending some message across the school network, you will screw yourself. With today's zero tolerance policies in schools, you will be suspended possibly even expelled. Trust me; it's happening all over the USA.

Sorry for the inconvenience. in the middle of my screen It appears on boot and remains there .If I click close ,the desktop icons disappear and reappear and the message also reappears several seconds later,In those few seconds things seem to operate normally but after it appears, things on the screen just blink once when I click on them and nothing else happens. If I click something , and then click close on the message, it clears the desktop and reappears the previous click is then executed and the lockup is back .I can do things one at a time by repeating this closing process and the application on the screen does not close but reappears also
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows XP Professional, an Intel P4 with 1.0GB Ram, nVidia GeForce FX5700 graphics card. Microsoft's Windows Defender Beta 2, Nod 32 Antivirus program and eTrust's Pest Patrol are running on my PC. I also have Windows Firewall running in the background. On starting the PC and before the Microsoft XP's welcome splash screen, I get a blank window. Not always, but 99% of the time. The only way I can close this window, is to click the OK button that appears on the screen. Clicking on the red X button doesn't help close it either. Once the window closes, the welcome screen appears and then the desktop with my icons, folders, shortcuts etc. appear and all is well with the PC. Most of the time the window is blank except for the OK button in the middle. On some occasions, a single file path(different each time I start the PC - examples listed below) can be seen on the dark blue band on top of the window and occasionally, inside the window:

I am having a problem with my computer.When I try to close applications like internet browser, real player, dxdiag there comes a blue screen and it says something about memory dump error.
