I have a new xp64 machine, and when I'm away from my machine for 10 mins, I have to re-enter my password to continue working.How can I stop this auto-logout?

my system is XP Pro with two drives CD and DVD writer. My CD/DVD auto run suddenly stop working. It was working before last week. But now when i insert any CD or DVD in my drives, i won't get auto run prompt window anymore. Who can i make it work again?

I went to the control panal and checked in the "sounds" and the login sound worked when I tested it there plus I checked the sound mixer and all sliders are active and pulled up. View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks I've had a problem logging off from one user id and then on to another (not just switching users).When I log off from the first user id the normal XP login screen is displayed but when I click onto the password box for the new user the cursur doesn't appear in that box and I can't enter the password. If I select a user id that doesn't have a password then I can log on as them, the problem is only with user ids with passwords. Restarting XP then allows me to log on to any user id as normal.

Then select your account from the list, and uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". I tried to the user enter a username and password I unmark it but it couldn't type anything on it. Bob Augello isn't highlight either.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen booting up (XP), I get to the screen where I select the user name and enter the password. Then I get my usual wallpaper screen but no icons, start button, task bar, tray etc etc. I can't right click on the screen.
I CAN do Crtl+Alt+Del and get a run prompt up and browse the various drives (and even run software through this, e.g. internet) but the desktop is always completely blank. I have tried Safe Mode and restore last known good etc but neither works both same result, get to wallpaper but no icons.
I have a standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse which do not work as I try to enter Safe mode. As I am on Windows 2000 Pro, I need to log on as administrator. I am not password protected, but have no way of clicking the Log in button.There are no settings for Keyboard or Mouse in my BIOS setup

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I took a couple of snaps as usual with my Olympus Digital 6.0 mega pixel 2.5 LCD.Used the usual cable to connect the camera via USB front port on my PC tower and the usual D: Removable dialog box did not show up on my desktop for me to choose out of several items what I wanted to do. I right clicked on My Computer > open, but the D:drive was empty. I usually choose to 'make a new folder on Picasa' > import and that is it.
So I then downloaded and installed Olympus Master CD that came with the camera, (Never needed before) but I thought I will try anything to correct this issue. Still the same, the D: Removable Drive is empty. I then booted up my Laptop on the same Network, enabled the camera in the USB port, up popped the AutoPlay dialog box, chose to make a new folder in Picasa, imported the pics, and using the sharing folder importing the pictures over to the PC. Certainly the long way around for me. So to clarify the Laptop works well with importing the pics from the camera, but the PC will not which is the new issue.Can anyone pinpoint what the trouble is on the PC that it will not recognize the camera and its photos for importing. One interesting thing when disconnecting the camera from the PC I used the "Remove Hardware option" the camera showed up for hardware to remove, so in one way the PC is recognizing the camera and in another it is not.
Resetting it in properties for the drive has no effect. When he puts in a cd, nothing happens.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS laptop running WinXP SP2. Recently the autoplay function on my CD/DVD drive has stopped working. It still reads the cds and dvds but when I insert one it doesn't register it (i.e. display the name of the cd/dvd) and doesn't autoplay. I have checked the properties of the drive and autoplay is switched on for all cd/dvd types (I have also reset it to default settings to make sure). I have tried the Microsoft Autoplay fix for Win XP as well but this hasn't worked either.I can't think of any software that I have installed or uninstalled recently that could have caused this not to work and I can't think of anything else to try.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm having a bit of a nightmare trying to get my copy of XP to boot.Every thing was working fine and then I tried to make a back up image of my drive using Norton Ghost 2003. I have a 200Gb Wester Digital SATA drive and an Asus A8n-SLI mobo. I think that there might have been some problem with the nVidia IDE/SATA drivers as ghost crashed half way thorugh the image making process. Now when I try to boot I get a "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

Toshiba A105-S4134 XP SP2 MCE 2005 Intel T2400 Duo Core 2 GB RAM1. Two days ago I had a glitch - a bunch of browser windows were open and the system just sort of froze up. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings
I'm unable to login to a computer.
1) WinXp splash screen is presented and a user login shown.
2) Click on user name.. and message "loading settings" then almost immediately.. a message "saving Settings" then back to login selection.
3) There is from time to time a brief flash at the desktop background .. then it appears to log out.
I only have one account on my windows xp, but from the past few days, windows has started asking username and password everytime it starts up, it's strange why it suddenly started happening and also that i don't have any password for the account, so each time i have to press "enter" to come to the desktop. I want to stop this?

Now, anyone who types in a wrong password can reset it. In other words no matter the password you enter it can open my account. I'm the only user on this computer, no guest , admin, nothing. View 3 Replies View Relatedive just noticed within the last couple days that my sreensaver isnt kicking in. i did install a new mouse this last week, bu ti dont think that would affect it. i wasnt quit sure what was meant by adding the ss to the front of the name, but the only name i could think of is that folder that the pictures are in. the screensaver has worked for years, so i cant think of why it would just stop working, and thats what lead me to believe that the installation of the mouse could have affected it.
