Yesterday I took a couple of snaps as usual with my Olympus Digital 6.0 mega pixel 2.5 LCD.Used the usual cable to connect the camera via USB front port on my PC tower and the usual D: Removable dialog box did not show up on my desktop for me to choose out of several items what I wanted to do. I right clicked on My Computer > open, but the D:drive was empty. I usually choose to 'make a new folder on Picasa' > import and that is it.
So I then downloaded and installed Olympus Master CD that came with the camera, (Never needed before) but I thought I will try anything to correct this issue. Still the same, the D: Removable Drive is empty. I then booted up my Laptop on the same Network, enabled the camera in the USB port, up popped the AutoPlay dialog box, chose to make a new folder in Picasa, imported the pics, and using the sharing folder importing the pictures over to the PC. Certainly the long way around for me. So to clarify the Laptop works well with importing the pics from the camera, but the PC will not which is the new issue. Can anyone pinpoint what the trouble is on the PC that it will not recognize the camera and its photos for importing. One interesting thing when disconnecting the camera from the PC I used the "Remove Hardware option" the camera showed up for hardware to remove, so in one way the PC is recognizing the camera and in another it is not.
I have an ASUS laptop running WinXP SP2. Recently the autoplay function on my CD/DVD drive has stopped working. It still reads the cds and dvds but when I insert one it doesn't register it (i.e. display the name of the cd/dvd) and doesn't autoplay. I have checked the properties of the drive and autoplay is switched on for all cd/dvd types (I have also reset it to default settings to make sure). I have tried the Microsoft Autoplay fix for Win XP as well but this hasn't worked either.I can't think of any software that I have installed or uninstalled recently that could have caused this not to work and I can't think of anything else to try.
I just got a Samsung DVD/CD+RW and it's been working great. However, one thing bugs me. Auto Play will not work with it. I have options in the drive's properties menu to choose what actions the drive should take when a media CD is installed. I have it set so that any type of media is AutoPlay. There're no options for data discs. However, no matter what kind of disc, from movie to Windows XP nothing happens. I have to open up My Computer and then browse for the auto play.
When I connect a USB flash drive I want a window to appear giving me the option to run (if there is an auto.inf file), play music (if music files), open in a Windows Explorer window, etc. This is exactly what occurs on my two Windows XP Pro machines. Nothing happens on my XP Home; I have to get to the drive through "My Computer."Is this an XP Home limitation? Or can you think of some setting I've missed? All 3 PCs have SP2 and all Microsoft critical updates. I have no reason to suspect malware on the XP Home machine, and it has nothing detected by AVG (free), Windows Defender, Ad-Aware or Spybot. The registry key NoDriveTypeAutoRun is Hex 91 on all machines. The Properties on the USB drives are the same.
A DV device is treated like any other removable storage in XP and you get an autoplay prompt when you plug in the camcorder. When I bought my DV camcorder I installed some software that came with it. The software sucks, but before I came to that realization, I had already made it the default for DV autoplay. The problem is that once you select an app to autoplay, there is NO WAY to change it unlike with other removables (where you can right click on it and change it in it's properties). Trust me, I did a LOT of research online and could not find any way to do it.Finally, after a careful search through the registry, I figured out how to disable DV autoplay entirely.ALL the autoplay handlers are stored in this registry folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAutoplayHandlersHandlersIfound the app that was being autoplayed when I plugged in my DV camera and deleted it's entry. Now NOTHING autoplays when I plug in my camcorder which is just the way I prefer it. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution that allows you to reset the autoplay so that you can select another app, but this solves the problem for me.
When I had Win98SE I could insert a music CD in my CDROM and it would automatically start to play. Now with SP Home Edition [Ver 2002, SP1] nothing happens when I insert a music CD into either my CDROM or my Burner. I do have sound though, either playing wav files or other sound files, so the problem is not my sound card or speakers. In addition, in my XP I "used" to see a pop-up when I put a blank CD in my burner in preparation of burning a CD with my Nero. It gave me some choice which I never really looked at closly because I just closed the window and went to Nero to burn a CD. Now, I don't get that popup any more either. Confused, I hope not. Have described my problem as best I can. If you need additional info to determine a response, let me know.
I have an AOpen DVD Reader and a Samsung DVD Burner drive in my XP Pro SP2 system. My problem is that whenever I put any CD or DVD in either drive the auto play will not work, if I open up My Computer and click on the drive Icon it will open up in the folder list but there is no Auto Play option.I have run the CD Auto Play from K'K line 10 and also restore Auto Play Icon, line 17 but none of these have worked. I have also run the repair tool from Kelly's Korner line 234 right hand side but that is unable to repair the function.
My auto play stopped wroking after i installed a piece of software (not sure what it was) and i believe that it is just a simple registry fix needed to fix it.
A number of times during the day an Auto play window opens and the flashlight sways back and forth as if it was searching. I have no idea what this is or how to stop it.
When I insert a music CD, a window comes- up asking if I want real player or take no action. What I want is auto-play with windows media player and cannot figure this out.
Auto Run and Auto Play just quit working. I did the basic, went to the drives concerned, the Auto Play is enabled, looks like. The msconfig option is out of my expertize level. Would someone know what happened, and how I can get those options working again?BTW, the System Restore quit working, too. I tried to roll back to a good working setting, but SR didn't restore. I tried several times, different dates.
When I put a dvd in the dvd-player for a game or anything, it used to autostart that dvd. But suddenly, it doesn't autostart anymore. I have to start it manually, by clicking the drive and choosing "autorun". It is the same for other drives as well, such as cd-rom drive. How do I fix this?if it's possible, I would like not to install any programs. So are there any configurations or properties I can check?
OS : windows XP Pro sp3Problem : We have a machine that has lost Scanner and Camera wizard from autoplay a few days ago after we moved this PC from a local Workgroup to a Domain. After moving it to the domain with the new user, we copied the Windows profile from the old local user to to the new domain user. We currently do not have any group policies configured to disable auto play. When I log in with the username into the old local account the Wizard pops up fine. It is something related to the user/profile change. When we plug the camera into the computer autoplay works and recognises that the camera has pictures but there are no options to transfer pictures in the pop up box. i have tried a a few reg edits , we do not have Real Player, No luck with Windows autoplay repair wizard either.

I can play music, but can't play music videos.I get this error message:Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. In the Open URL dialog, try opening the file using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").I am also having problems with UPDATING Windows Media- I get a message saying I am missing some components. I cant go into the Microsoft updates webpage either- I get a message saying ''page cannot be displayed''
whenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.
I have a couple thousand midi files broken into smaller folders. I click one to play with Media Player or there was a link that said PLAY ALL. That doesn't appear anymore and I have to keep selecting tunes each time one ends. I looked in the window drop downs but can't find how to bring back PLAY ALL.

Problem is, if I load a CD or DVD into the Drive they dont auto run they just spin up, and to launch I have to do it through explorer, Similarly with my Digital Camera, when I plug it in its supose to ask me what i want to do with the files but the same happens the Nikon program does not auto run, have tried the solutions mentioned here bon this board but still no go.
Whenever I start up IE7 "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" pops up. The problem is my internet is working for SOME programs. Firefox is working fine, but IE7 is not. Also Steam, Ventrilo, and AIM work fine, but programs such as, UBI Internet, and Gas Powered Games Internet, and almost all games do not work. It says Winsock error problem, but I have fixed the registry keys and followed all instructions.
I have a Gateway CX2618, w/ windows XP tablet edition 2005 version 2002, sp2. And wanted to wipe it clean and reinstall just the things I use. Plus my Tablet side of things hasn't worked in a long time and I was hoping the clean install would fix that. But my recovery DVD isn't working (could be user error). I DO have apps that I need to keep and I think I've backed them up to my external HD correctly.
my computer recently started logging off automatically as soon as i log in under any of our user names. It doesnt matter if its in safe mode or regular mode. I dont want to loose the data on the hard drive if i fix it some other way.
