I have windows XP Professional. When it starts it gives me an program error c:Progra~\mywebs~\bar1.binMWSBAR.DLL) is there anyway I can get rid of this. It causes no problem, just a pain.
View 9 RepliesMy friend was installing Norton and it froze half way thru and she ended up having to restart. When she restarted her computer (with WIN XP HOME EDITION) it loaded fine but now with a new problem. No program will load. I cant load Word, AIM, anything. I tried to do a system restore, but i cant open the program to do that. I cant explore the hard drive because that program wont open. I cant access the control panel either. The only thing that seems to work is IE, which is useless. I got the XP cd and performed a repair, but the problem did not change. I assumed there was something wrong with the registry, but i cant run regedit. Everytime I try to open a program I get a message that says "this file does not have a program associated with it for preforming this action" For some reason, no program will load, yet the computer starts up fine.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem with a CD burner program attempting to install when I "right" click on one of my drives (A, C, D, E, or F) from the My Computer screen.An install application comes up and wants me to insert a disc so a program can install.What I want to do is get to the properties tab so I can see how much I have on the C drive.I am sure there is another way to do that so my real problem is in correcting whatever is causing this install to start whenever I right click on one of the drives.I have right clicked on other icons on the desktop and that functions properly, as well as two folders in the My Computer "folder".

When I try to copy/paste files and folders in windows XP explorer (or in the desktop or a program's dialog box), windows wants to re-install one of the programs I have already installed on my computer or that I installed once upon a time.
Currently this is happening with Roxio Easy media Creator 7, but in the past it has happened with many other programs, such as MS Office, Roxio and some other shareware programs.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently when my computer boots, chkdsk starts running automatically. Thats ok. It does step 1 0f 3, great, does 2 of 3, however when it is doing step 3 of 3 its freezes at some percent over 50% and gives the following error:
"An Unspecified error has occured"
NOw everytime i reeboot my computer chkdsk runs and the same error occurs. I need chksdsk to complete its check because i dont want chkdsk to run at the beggining of every reboot it takes to long.
When I run applications such as new games (swat 4, Dawn of war, AOE3, Silkroad, or play DVDs, my computer stars... "Blinking, that is, it turns black and then turns on again. For example, I click my pc, then monotor becomes black, and then turns on again, with the my pc window open. When I restart, an error message appear. Its always the 2 messages "Windows has recovereds from a serious error"-and-"Wuauclt.exe has encontered an error and must shut down"

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have recently had Explorer ,Mozilla thunderbird,Hijack this etc not opening and the error message "This program is not responding ......"Click end now to end program .There is alot of hang time and then sometimes it all works like it should.To get Hijack to do log below I had to try 8 times before error message did not appear.I have run up to date Adaware pro , Norton Anti virus , Moosft The Cleaner and all clear(did have trojan Lodear but removed all threats.Pepper mill sometimes hangs on middle of screen for 5 mins before I can do anything.Have done a restore point but has not helped.Feel something in background clashing but not sure how to find it ??? Although I leave on most of the time computer takes an age to re boot ...dont feel like doing format but wonder if that is solution.

I set Windows to check my main hard drive for errors on my Dell E310 the next time it boots, so I shut it down and then rebooted. It started to load Windows, but after the loading bar went through 2 and a half passes, it just stopped. I figured this was normal for the error-checking program, but I left it for a couple of hours and came back. It still hadn't started, so I shut it down and booted to safe mode and did a system restore back to the beginning of yesterday. Right now I have it booting again and it stopped at the same spot.

I have been getting this error message for some time when OE tries to 'compact' my mail files after I close OE. There is no other program in use when this happens.

There is an extra space (where maybe the drive is supposed to go) and then the period. I've tried a system restore to a date before I loaded a new photoshop program with no success. I see the others have run a program called "HijackThis v1.99.1" == then copied that log into the post. I've never used that program -- where can I find it and then what do I do so I can give you better information.

With previous Windows versions, I could upgrade this way with no problem: I booted from the new CD, and at a certain point the install program asked me to insert my previous Windows CD to verify that I qualified for the upgrade., when I try to boot from my Windows XP CD, it says, "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." Does this mean I have to reinstall Windows 98 before I can install Windows XP? Or is there some other way to verify the upgrade?

In order to use anything, I must go find the program on my hard drive and then choose the program responsible for running that program. I've tried creating new shortcuts, but to no avail.
