On an irregular basis, in both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, text is suddenly selected that I don't want selected, sometimes covering the entire web page. I can close and reopen the browser and the behavior stops, sometimes for days, sometimes only for hours.

I'm running XP Home, SP3, and I have an intermittent problem, which I think may be windows based. From time to time, when I click on an icon on the home screen, all the icons behind it will also show as having been selected (and there will be a screen message saying that it will take a long time to load <number> programs, do you want to proceed?).

I want it to always stay on "larger".

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two pc laptops on one everything is great, in color and you can view everything as you would expect ie tab options and backgrounds. on the second (compaq presario 2200 laptop windows xp home) you cannot see tab options and internet page backgrounds, borders, tabs are all white and the text is in back or white text boxes (colour is also shown on the pages) i have tried to show axtive x etc and i do not have anything like norton oporating. i have been through nearly every setting but cannot work out why my laptop is veiwing its display like this and how to ammend it.

This isn't a problem with the websites as I've tried them on another PC and they come up fine.The info bar at the bottom says that the images are downloading but it's happening really slowly and even when it finishes there's still nothing.Before that happens it also says "error on page" then "done but with errors on page".

The windows explorer address bar is now 'refreshing' every 5 seconds or so.
Very unhelpful, as it wipes out the network location you are trying to enter.
It reverts to the previous address, and auto selects the full text.
When I open up Explorer it automatically dials my ISP and when I close it I get asked if I want to sign off of my ISP. This is a great feature. When I open Firefox it dials but it doesn't ask me to sign off when I close it. Is there a way to make it do the same thing for Firefox?

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer.
